they said 450kw battery, but that's not feasible (p100d is 100kw, current tech is about 1kg per 250whr, so that'd be a 1800kg battery). Assuming it's 45kwhr, normal driving is about 250whr/mile. so 180 mile range driving it easy. With 600hp it can burn 450kw/hr wide open, so about 6 minutes of full throttle to kill the battery. It can't thermally handle that, and with transient/light braking it's more around 20-30 mins. The IDR used 25kw to get up pikes peak in 8 minutes.

There is a lot of confusion about what "protecting the environment" means. Tires don't emit greenhouse gases. The particles emitted quickly fall to the ground in minutes. Particles emitted by brakes are tinier and can stay in the air for hours or days. Particles emitted by combustion engines are both greenhouse gases that will go into the atmosphere and particles that will fly locally. Electric cars don't protect very much the local environment, but for sure if the energy is produced in a proper way they don't contribute directly to climate change as they don't emit greenhouse gases.

@@1969cmp true but racecars still need 1 set of tires each race and after the race this set will be thrown away no matter the usage. On this field, the difference between electric and petrol cars is not really significant as the quantity of tires thrown away after every race is the same. If we speak about road cars, the tire usage difference is much smaller thanks to different software settings that can control the power transmitted to the tires in order to minimize consumption.

@Daniël Stuurman true but rally is very ideal for electric cars especially compared to other racing series where the cars need to last a much longer time.

In my opion not really cause for me the most exciting parts of a race whether it be le mons, or rally cross is the sound of cars blazing past you is thrilling, smell of race gas,rumble from all the engines.

What makes evs more environmentally friendly regardless is that the only time they may pollute (depending on how your electricity is produced) is during charging. The sound of high horsepower race cars with internal combustion motor cannot and will not ever be replaced with electricity and the sound at a race track is a big part of the thrill .

The guy is an actor who has gone thru acting school and knows how to mimic different expressions with his face. All rallycross cars has 600HP so no difference there in the speed around the track.

@@chev555 wouldn't the car lose power that way. cause as far as i know if you have an inverter, with rpm feedback, driving the motor the torque is ideally pretty constant.

@@siroviplatipus2950 I mean up to a certain point, and if you aren't using top of the line motors, generally the torque dips off fairly quickly. Also having at least a 2 speed would allow you to have an even higher first gear to give you even better off the line torque and a lower second gear to help stay in the torque a bit longer and have a higher top speed. And technically once you have a 2 speed you can just kinda keep on adding gears with minimal effort. Plus, you can eliminate so many systems from traditional gearboxes with electric motors. Like technically you will never need a clutch as the motors can perfectly rev match, you don't really need any physical connections to the gearbox so the gear forks or whatever the gearbox would use coukd be extremely compact, you technically don't need a bellhousing since the motors are much smaller than a normal engine, you could integrate the diff into the gearbox in a longitudinal setup meaning you can keep the durability of a longitudinal gearbox while dealing with a fraction of the power losses. And then you theoretically should get much better range at higher speeds as the taycan has proven. Also it wouldn't be much bigger or heavier than a tesla's diff while being only slightly more expensive and just as ever so slightly less reliable (just as reliable if done right).

Lithium is the current technology for out battieres. But Elon is working on a new battery type. It's smaller and can hold more charge for way longer. It's the MaH hours that matter. Milli amp hours. Aka how long can the battery last under average use, NO USE idle, and excessive heavy use. Next would be the shelf life of said battery. What good would an awesome battery like that be if it only lasted a year maybe. Expensive to replace as well. It's a balancing act while maintaining profits for greedy companies. Once its made, others will want the technology behind the new battery and will compete to offer similar at a lower price to gain customers. The material they dig up just to make these batteries pollute the earth way more than traditional cars do today. That's what they don't tell u. They want u to think u r saving earth with a E-car, while they want u to have the electric car for control. They want the ability to shut off your car at will if u don't comply. They can't turn off a cumbustable engine but an electric car they can.

For me its the ev conversions, especially rich rebuild's ev hotrod, the motor and 3 speed gearbox combo sounds absolutely incredible together, or ev wests ferrari 308 ev with the 5 speed manual.
