Recorded 03/05/2018. Ken Boxer Live welcomes our next guest, former 1960’s-era groupie, Pamela des Barres. In introducing her I quote Katie Bain from noisey.vice.com:
“Pamela Des Barres is most often remembered for having sex with Mick Jagger. And Jimmy Page. And Keith Moon. And Waylon Jennings. And a bunch of other rock gods in between. Des Barres carved out her place in rock ‘n’ roll history as one of LA’s most prolific groupies during the decadent era when the members of Led Zeppelin rode motorcycles down hotel hallways and musicians got crazy rich off of record sales. But she also made music herself as a member of The GTOs (Girls Together Outrageously), a band made up of a bunch of groupies, as organized by Frank Zappa (Des Barres used to babysit his kids). In pictures from the era, Des Barres is an ethereal, glowing redhead in silk vintage wear-exactly the kind of woman you’d want to spend time with if you were a virile young rock star in town for the week.”
We all look forward to des Barres’s filling in the details with her incredible memories of those times.

I love Pamela. I moved to LA for her, I clean her house and bartend at her house parties FOR FUN. Because she is a wonderful, beautiful, genuine, loving, woman of gold. I am her groupie and proud of it. Also I'm in her let It Bleed book and it's a milestone of my life. I love her......my life changed drastically because of her.

I adore Pamela Des Barres! She's such an icon and an inspiration! I've kept a diary and been writing and making zines and scrap books since I was 13 because of her books, and I hope one day to start publishing my own writing.. I was also inspired to study fashion partly because of the GTOs! Pamela has had a massive impact on my life and overcoming my anxiety.

I did bodyguard/security work for bands in SoCal area for about a decade. I've experienced the Pam's of the world many times, not a put down, we've had a lot of fun, and some of the lady's are real sweethearts that I'm friends with to this day. Morrison however, for as beautiful as he was to her had a reputation for being notoriously unhygienic (as many practicing alcoholic/addicts do). I'm just curious as whether he'd showered & brushed his teeth recently when they'd met? I'm assuming she got lucky and he must've.

Sean Connery was notorious for never bathing, although he always changed his clothes several times a day.
@discernment8963
@discernment8963 3 года назад
@@selectiveoutrage6617 I suppose anything's possible, but a couple of things. That's the 1st time I've ever heard such a thing about Connery, things like that get around, plus running around stinking just doesn't parallel with being a lady's man whether you're a local nobody or a well known person. Whereas both Morrison himself as well as the hippie addict lifestyle are well known for that behavior.

I read Pamela De Barres books I'm With The Band and Take Another Piece Of My Heart back in the eighties and nineties. I absolutely love her but this guy is the worst interviewer I ever saw. Learn about the people you are interviewing, I knew Jimmy Page was one of her boyfriends by reading her books when I was a teenager. No she did not date Robert Plant. This is a fascinating woman with a fascinating life. Dude learn about the people you are interviewing.

Love Ms Pamela, but this show sucks. It sounds like they invited an army of real life Homer Simpsons to be the audience, and then gave them control of the mixing board.

You have to grudgingly admire a woman who has turned a few years of sleeping with 60s rock stars into a career spanning fifty years and more. Without those names to drop, she'd have absolutely nothing. God bless America for forking over cash and notoriety to skanky women with no actual accomplishments of their own--and the Kardashians for legitimizing this sick trend.
