Ken Page performs Oogie Boogie’s Song during The Nightmare Before Christmas Live Concert to Film on 10/29/21 at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
I think this concert is spelling that out. Ive watched that movie Idk how many times since I was a kid and just found out Catherine O'hara sang the Shock part on 'Kidnap Sandy Claws.'
Like holy shit, he's no doubt a great singer, but there's so much more to his performance then just being a great singer. The characterization he puts into the performance... I honestly don't know if there's anyone else who could be Oogie Boogie, it's just so undeniably Ken Page's performance.
Oogie has always been one of my all time FAVORITE villains. In fact he is the reason I like jazz just because of this damn song. I love Ken's voice. This is one of the few songs I can sing from memory and I can never resist singing along whenever it comes on.
His performance is pretty much the closest to the recorded version in the movie! Like spot-on! It's cool to have nuance in live performances but super impressive when it sounds exactly like the version you know! ❤️ I was really little when this came out so it will always be nostalgic!
Me never looked for who was doing The Voice of M. OOGIE (my fav one for my 10 y.o) ! Me discovering his Voice is a black man right now : YAAAAAAY 💚💚💚💚✨✨✨✨✨✨😍😍😍😍
Not sure what it is but villains in musicals voiced by black performers seem to be very memorable. Keith David, Levi Stubbs and Ken Page are all incredible.
Every year I tune in to see a new performance of this song by the one and only Ken Page! You can always tell when an actor loves his role and Ken has been relishing this role for nigh 3 decades!
