We were in Goat Rocks wideners on Sep 12-16, actually the air quality up in the mountains was much better than Packwood. We felt so graceful that we went on our hiking to avoid the smoke. Good lucky guys! You guys are awesome!
Holy smokes Roadkill, what an amazing episode! You made me realize there are so many unexpected challenges on the trail. No way you could've seen that coming. I figured once you got past the dessert area it would get easier. Boy was I ever mistaken. Glad to see you are safe and well. Appreciate your pearls of wisdom on the trail and in the parking lot (look out for cars!!!) LOL. Love your can-do attitude and common sense hiking stories. You and Goldilocks are an inspiration to us covid couch potatoes and we wish you both the best.
Looking forward to seeing your video of you guys tagging the terminus. You guys have had a very challenging hiking year. Not just you but all the hikers. Be proud of how much you guys have accomplished.
Sauerkraut and bratwurst pizza sounds amazing. I love traveling and having a kitchen so I can eat good and save money. You are wise to hold off your hike with all the smoke. Last thing you need is to hike in the thick smoke, let alone get caught in a sudden fire. Here in CA a fire near me just jumped the ridge, which is not normal. But this is not a normal fire season. I know it’s not the hike you planned but you have had an amazing adventure this year. I’m so glad I could experience it with you. I know that this is not the end of your trail adventures. You two are awesome!
Thank you for the kind words and support. Yes, this has been a challenging year to hike the PCT, and not just because of the fires. We learned a lot and had an amazing adventure...and it's still not quite over. The Northern Terminus is waiting!
Packwood is my happy place from tri cities. The one thing you couldn't see was now mt rainier between the tatoosh (the mountain with the peak) and Hinkle twinkle (the other mountain). So glad the welcome committee (elk) greeted you at the hotel.
Hearts pass sounds like a great option! It’s a relatively pleasant trek to the monument. I’d love nothing more than to see you guys hit it. Weather is going to get better... it’ll still be an amazing moment when you guys get there. I promise.
Wow. Last year was a very high snow year and a lot of people bailed at KM south. This year it was the forest fires. Next year? Who knows. The PCT is a tough trail, but I appreciate your determination. Good Luck and Hike On!
Looking forward to your new videos. I think it was safe for you guys to do what you did in getting off the trail. I was worried for you guys at that time as we were smoked out in Seattle. Today, is 09/25 so I’m assuming you’re both back on the trail. All the best to you. We’ve got some serious rains these past few days so thinking of you both. Hike on and God Speed. You’re an inspiration to me. 💕
Hi Jules. Our original plan was to get back on trail yesterday (9/25) but the weather forecast predicted strong winds and snow for yesterday and today so we've postponed our start until tomorrow (9/27).
I've been thinking about you guys thru all these fires. The trail may have ended but you all are safe. The trail will always be there for you to return to. 2020 has been the year from hell. All the best and will still follow you and your goat trail adventures!
Just found your channel and watched the last 5 videos over the last 2 days. I watched a couple other PCT hikers tag the border before all the smoke. Wondered how the smoke and fires were affecting other hikers still on trail. All the fires is so sade to see. Glad your safe.
Thanks for watching Cheryl. We hope you enjoy them enough to go back and watch some of the earlier ones. Returning tomorrow to make a run for the border.
Thanks Lee ... but the adventure isn't over just yet. We're returning to the trail tomorrow try to tag the border before the snow closes the trail for the year.
Other than the cost, Packwood looked like a nice little town, but when your goal is to reach Canada and then move on with your lives, it does start seeming like Groundhog Day. The pizza sounded interesting. Somehow you need to make that final section and tag the terminus point. That might give you some satisfaction and sense of closure on the trip. I hope you continue at least part of the rest to tag the border. I saw Skippers post that she was off trail. Wishing you all the best and will be looking forward to your next video. Trek On my friends.
What flavor are those sodas at 10:55? I'm guessing Skipper's is a Cherry Pepsi; you and Goldie's...? All I see is the letter "C". Cream Soda? Seems a little dark colored for a cream.
