Originally, this was going to be one of the songs you would hear at the beginning of "Good Kid m.A.A.d City," but sadly, they never got the sample cleared, so they couldn't officially publish this song with this beat. Also, despite this being a fan-made music video, Kendrick saw it and I think he said in a tweet that this is the official music video for the song.

I'm a 80's baby, & the cartoon selection on Saturday morning was elite. I would have a big bowl of Cocoa Puff's & watch my favorite's (The Smurfs, Scooby Doo, Where are you?, ThunderCats, Inspector Gadget, Cap n' O.G. Readmore, School House Rock, Animaniacs, The Bugs Bunny Show) followed by Pee-wee's Playhouse, Solid Gold, American Bandstand, and my personal favorite Soul Train. Then after watching all that, we'd go outside & play...those were the day's. 😊

Eh I feel like that might be an opinion cuz I've been a fan of gunplay for a long time and some of his best verses were on his old mixtapes. The one where he raps over a Wu Tang beat, Bible on the dash had some dope lyrics, ghetto symphony verse wasn't bad, the mmg remixes back then gunplay killed every one of them. he's not bad as far as gangsta rappers go

@LiquidDreamz93 gotta hit his mixtapes cause from your list I only remember Bible on the Dash. And it didn't hit for me. He has great beats but he doesn't kill his verses. Like Bucket List for eg. Amazing beat, he was good but he didn't smash it. Cartoons is the only Gunplay verse that I feel

Wasn't because of clearance issues..it was because 50 had beef with gunplay at the time. Kendrick was showing loyalty and after the Drake beef...50 runs and wants to work with Drake...smh. Kendrick should drop this remastered on his new album to slap 50 in his NY face

My favorite Kendrick song of ALL-TIME. Back in 2013 he came to my college right after GKMC dropped to give us a concert. This song was the encore song and the fist time I ever heard it. He brought a Q-Dawg from the crowd on stage to perform it with him…it was all ENERGY! I’ve been hooked on it ever since then. Whenever I had to pull an all nighter I’d have this on repeat. Hearing it now at 32 years old just takes me back to those times 🔥

I hope all reactors start going back to react to these classic Kendrick songs. They missed so much fire even before GKMC. You could see hear as early as his Kendrick Lamar EP when he made the change and started to intertwine his bars with story telling, concepts, playing with different voices and flows etc. Him and J Cole are aliens because even in their early work you see the amount of talent they had. Cole's mixtapes are classics as well

Classic Kendrick track. And in the 2nd verse a lot of the duck and dark wing duck references is in regards to him with his last name being duckworth. “Darkwing duck….lost service”, he saying when that incident happened he was in true shock and the cartoon was on went off due to the craziness, love that imagery.
