Kendrick said a long time Ago no matter how much they like him or fw his music this is a competition and he’s gunning for anyone who says there the greatest
@DOPPELGANGR RnB and pop music is right there for you if you want weak shit. This is hip hop. Pac and Biggie died for that crown, ain't no tail tucking round here unless you a bicth!! You go get that shit and tear up everybody in your way ain't no alternatives!!
If this is a diss track, I'm glad to be an old head. Back in my day, we knew who had beef because they said it in the fucking song. I gotta fucking research what's going on
it's just clever lyricism, coming for their neck but it's personal, he's dropping references to past works and disses and referencing things die hard fans and the target will understand. instead of just saying fuck j cole he said fuck j cole and anyone else who thinks they're the best, and used the bars to say it
Exactly I’ve hardly heard anyone say something about that, like bro this is just the setup, imagine a 3 minute song or a couple more verses on features
The Prince reference isn’t just about him actually out living MJ, it’s how MJ although being commercially successful never had the respect of his piers like Prince did and does, also Prince wrote all his music and played all his own instruments, Michael had a lot of help. Kendrick is the Prince to Drakes Mike Jackson
No 😂 Prince and MJ are lightyears away from these dweebs. Prince and MJ actually had talent, these mfs got lucky from buttons. Bunch of grown men crying about nothing, none of these mfs are even in the league of being a great MC. That will always be 2Pac, Biggie, Em, etc.
This bar so loaded 😮 “Fore all your dogs gettin' buried That's a K with all these nines, he gon' see Pet cemetery” •that’s AK with all these 9’s(9MM) •that’s a K (king) with all these 9’s (black jack reference stronger then any card with value less then 10) •That's a K with all these nines(K9), he gon' see Pet cemetery (Pet Sematary) is a 1983 horror novel by American writer Steven king. •"Fore all your dogs gettin' buried That's (AK) with all these nines, he gon' see (C) Pet cemetery" AKC most well known dog registry.
Fore All the Dogs is a reference to Drakes album… that’s a K with all the 9’s as in Canine (Dog) 9’s (dog’s plural) slight dbl entendre but your breakdown is superb
“Clickin’ up” is a bar referring to B-Legit and E-40 being apart of a rap group called The click that goes back to the 80s to now. Hence “B-Legit no 40 water”
I mean he's so right 😂 Drake shouldn't even be in the same conversation as Kendrick. Drake just sells the most because he appeals to the lowest common denominator.
@@VIP__Lizanot trying to argue but I'd say someone who wanted to authentically express themselves through an art form would not be concerned with appealing to as many people as possible
Drake isn't a rapper, he's an artist who raps. In my opinion, Kendrick Lamar is one of the few actual quality rappers left on the highest podium. I would call a lot of modern rappers hip hop artists who rap, because it feels like the rap sequences are less important to them than the rest of the music. Actual rappers, who's focus in music is the lyrics they write, less the backing tracks, aren't generally as popular anymore in mainstream as rap has grown popular.
Yall missed the "DOT Money, Power, Respect" to his Backseat Freestyle on Good Kid, maad city album, when he emphasizes the RESPECT word last saying "RESPECT my mind or die from lead shower." And Drake did a feature on this album called Poetic Justice. I'm not over reaching. He is Prince reincarnate.
You the only person I seen on the whole internet who made that connection besides myself since this track dropped. Thats not a reach, thats you knowing your shit. I havent seen anybody make the connect between that Prince/Mike Jack bar and the verse that Kendrick did with Future in 2017 on the Mask Off track either, but I wouldnt be surprised if you know that shit too.
@@sozasavage-_-8714 Yeah, OK. Because we discussing bars that's got entendres 3 and 4 levels deep with references in them that go back years and years, but nobody damn sure ever noticed that Prince was really good at playing guitar. FOH dumbass lil boy
*correction* Prince outlived Michale artisticly, he kept making music and was loved and respected until the end, that's what kdot meant, he performed with Prince in 2014 and always praised him as the one and only
It's not a sneak diss if those were direct shots, everybody know who he was talking to, it's pretty obvious and he already diss them on Control by name but it was more for the competition but did Drake and Cole respond to that? Nah and Cole got smoked on Black Friday anyway.🥱
@@user-xi3jy7zt3yKdot made it clear who he was talking about, there was nothing sneaky about that verse, Cole and Drake fans are just to sensitive for real Hip Hop 😂
I’d like to see Cole & Kendrick go back n forth with some disses (friendly competition but not too friendly). As for Drake, I doubt he has the courage to go at Kendrick, who is a different animal compared to Cheek Mills
The Prince bar is also a comparison between Kendrick and Drake, Kendrick is Prince, an actual musician who writes his own material and gets critical acclaim but won't have the commercial success of MJ(Drake) who doesn't write his own raps but is a commercial juggernaut but we all know Prince is better
@@faisaskitchen7091 He’s not. Prince played all his own instruments, he was a better song writer, he had sex appeal, charisma, integrity, and he liked his partners over 18.
@@offense_a_byproduct_of_truthHe has never dissed Kendrick back it’s not his first time testing J.Cole pen as the goat Cole always saying he the greatest and he feel like it’s just him and nobody else well Kendrick is stepping up to the plate once again to show these bots are not like that
Thank you for translating! It is a TOTALLY different language to me! He is truly a magnificent poet! It sounded like he was speaking in brilliant parables to me as I’m not familiar with that vocabulary 😂 so, thank you 🙏 😊
@@TRAPLIFE4 When I first heard drake he was original, comeback season/room for improvement era, then the YM era came and he lost some originality but got super famous, then I'd say his run with Apple Music was definitely biting style era, but the thing is during this whole time, rap and hip hop turned to pop, literally the most popular music genre, so people stopped caring, obviously this is a stupidly condensed version but it's the comments section
@@otaku4204 how is he not better?? Bar for bar cole is definitely better, delivery better also Johnny ps caddy verse kills any Kendrick verse just saying 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ but you’re entitled to your opinion
Prince outliving Mike was the weakest bar honestly. Because yea that’s true but prince still isn’t better than Mike end of story like tf that made no sense.
There more to it, drake compared himself to Michael Jackson in multiple songs as well, including toosie slide and some others, and Kendrick compares himself to Prince as well
@@qoq4837lol.. so when you gonna explain what more to it there is? He told us mj died first.. that's it.. which is irrelevant because mj was still the bigger artist.. bar wasn't half as hard as ya making it seem
Drake have some ghostwriters and so did MJ and they're more popular but Prince was artistically better and versatile they were rivals of each other so it really makes sense, Kdot performed with Prince on stage and Prince supposed to be on TBAP but unfortunately that didn't happened, also in the mask off remix Kdot compared himself to Prince in a bar "something like let my hair grow like Prince" I can't remember how that bar said but it something like that, not only that but both MJ and Drake likes minors, MJ may be be better but Prince could also play any instrument so he's artistically better and better, don't get me wrong, MJ is still the king of pop and he's iconic, the only reason Drake is comparing himself to MJ is cuz they're both the biggest pop artist and that's it, Drake can't touch MJ's legacy but they are both known to like minors but all that flew over y'all heads as usual when it comes with black face Aubrey fans, it had more layers but I can't remember what I read in a comment breaking it down but all y'all comprehension for layered bars are limited and but again that's not surprising coming from Aubrey fans.😂
If Drake drops a diss track that ends up #1 on Spotify and the billboard charts he will automatically win this 😂 I’m sure Kendrick is already working on his 2nd diss track.
Anytime kendrick get in on a feature he make you forget who album it is. Thats not future song no more. Kendrick just stole the whole album. Its big sean all over again
kendrick and jcole are both lyrical masterminds so i’m curious to know how this happens. tbh but with how jcole raps im pretty confident he doesn’t need any help from drake showing kendrick who’s boss. ain’t nobody got them lyrics like jcole.
Kendrick and Cole, two highly influential artists, possess an abundance of talent and have the ability to create a hit song about even the most mundane subject, such as a butterfly. In today's music scene, there is no one who can compare to them. They undoubtedly rank among the top five rappers of all time. On the other hand, Drake has been accused of copying flows and not writing all of his own music. It is frustrating that people proclaim Drake as the best without any concrete evidence to support this claim. As an artist, it is essential to write your own material in order to showcase your true artistic abilities. This raises the question of whether Drake can truly be considered an artist or merely a product of a controlled environment. Now, shifting gears to Prince and Michael Jackson, my grandfather and I once debated about who was better. Initially, I sided with Michael Jackson, but my grandfather presented me with facts that proved Prince's superiority. Prince was an exceptional performer who effortlessly blended various genres. It was challenging to keep up with his musical versatility. Moreover, Prince has a greater number of notable albums and wrote his own music, unlike MJ. Prince was so talented that MJ even attempted to purchase his royalties, but Prince declined. This demonstrates that Prince was not only a phenomenal artist but also a shrewd businessman. It's time to reconsider who truly reigns supreme.
I feel like we forget to mention drake compared himself to Michael on other songs too saying he’s one away from mike and that Michael Jackson and prince also had a rivalry where they didn’t like eachother
I like how no one is acknowledging that the production metro put on this was ripped off memphis music from almost 30 years ago specially from dj Paul's and zirks catalouge smh
i could be wrong but "i still got ptsd" (kendrick) sounds like a response because on her loss drake said "you n* pushing ptsd" and i have heard people say that was a line about mr morale and tbs, sure there could be other meanings but in my opinions the dots connect
Kendrick not really on ppl playlist anymore. He had heat, then we barely hear anything from him for years, then he drop this for clout. This track decent, but cmon now..J Cole will mutilate Kendrick easily bar for bar
I wonder if Drake knew months ago he was gunna fall off with some ppl he frequently made music with so he made sure to get real close with Cole business wise
