WOW! "I'll tell you how much a dollar cost, The price of having a spot in Heaven, Embrace your loss, I AM GOD" WOW is all I can say to that verse alone...just WOW
The lyrics explain Kendrick's encountering a moment of divine intervention when interacting with a beggar at a gas station, that is later revealed to be the Messiah in disguise, only after Kendrick, who has achieved great wealth refused to show the beggar kindness by not offering a single bill. The penalty for his lack of empathy is being denied entry into heaven after his death by God himself. I imagine a scenario where Kendrick's character would have had near-death experience shortly after the encounter (perhaps a guilt tripping, rage enthused car accident). He woke up in a hospital surrounded by family, not knowing what happened after the encounter with a second chance to life that set him on a more empathetic path. Matthew 16:26 (NIV): "What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?"
This song made me grateful I wasn't alone in thought. True story ish, you didn't ask for it, but here it goes; I was about 10 years old, (my mom passed at 12, but what she left behind. Blessings. ) we were in Brownsville, Texas. My pops was considering moving there for his job. He wanted us to see what life was like, unfortunately, like less than what we had at the time. Lower-middle class American ish, at the time, it was basically just whatever. Anyhow, he took us over a bride to Mexico. Children hustling...."Chichles!!! Chichles!!!" Excuse me if I'm wrong, them lil gum shits...but nah, lil homie came out ready to wash the windows...no lie, in retrospect, them shits was foggy AF, probably why my dad was mad at me for giving them my five dollar allowance 😂....point being..😢 the song hits.
Yo thanks for reuploading shit. Sounds tend to get watered down withen a few years and next thing ya know, can't find a song on YT no more. Appreciate friend. 1.
You're welcome, man. Let me know if there's specific stuff you can't find. Appreciate you stopping in to listen AND for taking time to post a comment. Have a great weekend!
Hey, Breeze. We posted links to Kendrick's official social media accounts in the video's details. Thanks for stopping by to listen AND for taking the time to post a comment. Have a great weekend!
“I never met a transient that demanded attention” “Sour emotions, got me looking at the universe different” Kendrick has a way with words for real. Poetry
As someone that spent a good portion of the first part of the year travelling around South Africa, you're right. So many on the streets asking for assistance/help. I went back and listened to the song after your comment and it hit on a whole new level.
Yeah, I do feel Kendrick is near the top on another level than most mainstream. Thanks for stopping in to listen, Rowwhan, AND for taking time to post a comment.
First time I listened to this song, I was captivated by the piano chords and the progression. Second time I listened, I figured out the story. Sadly, I feel the same when it comes to having empathy for individuals who are homeless or addicts in the streets, for I have none. We all have a choice and we all are met with struggle, but to those who fall and choose to beg instead of getting back up to keep fighting, its telling me that you forsake integrity and pride and instead turn to instant gratification by learning how much a dollar really costs.
You completely missed the point of the song lmfao. In the end when the homeless man says "The price of having a spot in Heaven, embrace your loss-I am God" he is saying that for Kendrick's greed and selfishness he will go to hell. He lost his spot in heaven for refusing to share a dollar of his riches, that's how much a dollar costs. Kendrick's character is in the wrong in the story of this song.
“this is a song that means a lot to me - it’s a reminder that money, wealth, fame, or power of any kind is a tragic waste if it’s not being used to help others and create a better world for us all. Especially with all that we see happening right now, I hope that this serves as a reminder to us all that choosing love and generosity over greed is what will help us create the world we want to live in.” You’re literally the type of person this song is speaking out against, stop being so selfish. Not only did you miss the point you interpreted the song completely backwards
@@user-db4lk7yg3oHell is not real. The beggars believing in manmade lies and terrorizing others spiritually are in a real hell. There is no afterlife. Rich people tend to have better quality of life therefore you can have a feeling that you're in heaven on earth that's my opinion
The name of the song and the original artist are in the title of the video. Thanks for stopping by to watch AND for taking time to post a comment. It helps a LOT!
Then simply truly believe in Jesus alone ““For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.” John 3:16-18 Believing and placing your faith in Christ alone is the key to eternal life And once your are in Christ Jesus there’s nothing you can do or anyone else can do to you that can make you lose your salvation because is Eternal is a free gift for anyone to receive and when you receive the free gift of salvation you receive His promise Holy Spirit that is promised to everyone who believes in Him but you must truly believe in Jesus that He alone is LORD and believe what He has done for you on the cross and what He has done for the world Believe who He says He is and that He rose on the 3rd day that He is the resurrection and the Life That He was God in the flesh “Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it.” Colossians 1:22-23 “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1 “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” Ephesians 2:8 “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:30 When you believe in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus you receive His Holy Spirit that indwells in you once you truly believe and when you have the Holy Spirit living in you You are sealed forever our salvation in Christ is a guarantee “Jesus replied, “I have already told you, and you don’t believe me. The proof is the work I do in my Father’s name. But you don’t believe me because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”” John 10:25-30 NLT The good news is Jesus Christ paid our depth of sins on the Cross He willingly laid down His innocent and perfect life that He may take upon the wrath of God upon Himself that we may receive His righteous through the richness of His Spirit living in all who believe Jesus is the way the truth and the life No one comes to the Father except through Him The key here is do you believe the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is enough to give you eternal life and if you believe He is enough then you are saved And He will begin to do a good thing in you But if you don’t believe then your depth has not been paid meaning you will die in your sins because you did not believe in who He says He is “Jesus continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You belong to this world; I do not. That is why I said that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I Am who I claim to be, you will die in your sins.”” John 8:23-24 “being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Philippians 1:6
You're totally right .. just listened to it again. I wish RU-vid allowed modifications to an already published video, but they don't, so there's not an "easy" way to fix it. I did want to comment and thank you for taking the time to comment. I know I make mistakes on the videos on occasion and it's great when someone lets me know. Have a great week!
