“Everybody gon respect the shooter” if i point a gun at you i hold the power in the situation, you'll suddenly respect what i have to say. “But the one in-front of the gun lives forever” meaning the victim is remembered and cherished through friends&fam, while the shooter is despised and forgotten after a period of time.
Its actually a gang mentality he is referring to, kind of like a rite of passage in the hood when you "catch you first body" (kill someone) you get respect thats what he means by everyone is gonna respect the shooter.
This album is like a movie. Basically the album is about Kendrick growing up in Compton. Imo one of the best albums in any genre. Also listen to Songs from To Pimp a Butterfly which is in my opinion the greatest rap album of all time.
In the context of this album, this song is even more amazing. “Freeze that verse when we see dollar signs” he’s talking about how he was in the car freestyling with his friends (Backseat Freestyle) and they stopped rapping to rob someone (Art of Peer Pressure). I see this song as like a slow motion narration of what’s going on during this day in the storyline.
when he say "Everybody gon' respect the shooter. But the one in front of the gun lives forever" , he is referencing people he knew who were shot and killed, and basically is saying that the shooter gets all the attention, but he basically thinks the victim deserves more. This song is supposed to be a lot about the victim
Keep in mind that rap stands for rhythm and poetry meaning it’s more about lyrics and the flow of the artist I believe rock focuses on the instruments more so but yeah im ready for your journey 😁
@@jerellmccall8868 Yeah man it's really cool to try something completely different than what I'm used to. I'm gonna try to look up lyrics a lot more since it's so pivotal to what makes rap what it is. I really appreciate the kind words and I'm happy to bring you guys along for this! :)
Thanks so much! And oh okay, I'll look into doing that one. Yeah I think I'm gonna try to get into the lyrics a little more on this channel cause they can be really important to a song of course. I appreciate you watching! Expect more reactions just like this one :)
Hey I appreciate you sticking around! I'll have to try that one out in my next batch of recordings, his verse in this really stuck out to me. Thanks so for the support you guys give me man
Yeah but that song will go right over your head if you don’t know Kendrick’s music. You have to listen to it in the context of the album to understand it
Money Trees is the perfect shade means if you have money you will be protected against say, Police Brutality. Like in the lines “everybody go respect the shooter…”
this is awesome to see man! Rap is a great genre filled with amazing and not so amazing music just like any other genre. Glad to see you enjoying kendrick, one of my favorites. I'd love to see ytou react to Earl Sweatshirt - Grief
rap is great for picking up the bits and pieces of the lyrics. Some of it is so layered i'll be picking up new things even after i've listened to the album 100s of times.
Yeah I'm starting to get what makes it so great as a genre, it was one I just never bothered try until now :D And I'll see about getting to that song! I get lots of requests but I'll definitely add it to the list of ones to do. Thanks for watching!
Yeah man a lot of modern rap is centered around how good the beat is and how good the rapper can flow/add to it. If you want to check out a song with some interesting production listen to: 90210 by Travis Scott. It's on one of his older records, really unique track.
Yeah I am starting to get it a bit more, I'm really looking forward to listening to more, thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that one a shot pretty soon. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch man
Another great vid man 🔥. Would love to see u continue with rap songs. J Cole - G.O.M.D, Kendrick - Alright, and Logic - Everybody. Just a few suggestions for u.
Thanks so much for the compliment man. Yeah trust me, I'll keep the rap reviews coming! I appreciate the suggestions, I finally know where to start with this genre because of you guys 👊
Plz more rap, I grew up with rock and rap. But I have to appreciate rap more bcuz I learned rap presents more depth, more sounds, and more complex structure in my opinion but great reaction !
Those who die will live on forever in our memories. In gang and American culture “shooters” are put in a pedestal with attention or props form fellow gang members and media glorification
gotta do "Sing about me" from the same album Kendrick himself even says it's his favourite song cause it's based on stuff that he witnessed in real life.
Heyy if you really like lyrics that make you think you should definitely check out lil Wayne. One of his songs that I really like and would like you to react to if you can is Blunt blowin. Wait actually can you please react to Tech N9ne first E.B.A.H, Wither, and straight out the gate.
They are Hifiman HE350, got them on a site called massdrop where they are no longer available. You can find them used on Ebay for 60 to 100 bucks if you search them up though! Any HiFiMan headphones are GREAT from my experience :)
They are Hifiman He350. They are no longer being made but you can find them used on ebay for 60 to 100 bucks! They are really a great buy for some decent open backed headphones
@@bonesylikesgoodmusic3401 oh thats a great price, i'm familiar with hifiman products but didnt recognize them on sight. I'm super into audio stuff so I was curious. I have sennheiser hd600's with a dac and vacuum tube amp and they sound beautiful. Maybe i'll add these to my line up.
@@bloodblitzowns11 I have a pair of sennheiser Ie80s, those are my absolute favorite earbuds on earth. I'll probably be using those again on the channel once I get a new chord for them :)
