if youre all interested in a super in depth breakdown of TPAB, listen to the first season of the podcast, Dissect. Each episode spends about 30 min breaking down a song from the album. youre all gonna learn way more than you expect. fun fact i learned about TPAB: its original name was "Tu Pimp a Caterpillar" aka (TuPAC)
@@Jerome-Boateng Nah, DAMN. is definitely not underrated, Lol. This is his most successful album, all 14 tracks were on the Billboard and they all were RIAA Certified. Section 80. is the underrated album from Kendrick Lamar
I honestly don't understand why Too Pimp a Butterfly wasn't the one to win the Pulitzer. That album has so much more depth lyrically and musically over Damn. Definitely a far more "virtuosic collection of vignettes"
Check out Dissect Podcast he explains the concept of DAMN. and breaks down the lyrics. DAMN. is extremely underrated and misunderstood. DAMN. is also extremely complex it may come off surface level as a Pop album but DAMN. is super deep conceptually and lyrically is Kendrick at his most dense. DAMN. definitely deserve the Pulitzer Prize.
I personally believe Kendrick Lamar is The G.O.A.T, cause with his discography, cultural impact and skill he is arguably The Greatest, Hip Hop artist or Rapper. Cause if he was in the 90s and Died the Same Time Biggie and Pac died and had already accomplished what he has already, there wouldn't even be a debate. no cap told here.
artistically, kanye edges everyone for me. the way he pieces every project together he touches is amazing. a true perfectionist. arguably a top 5 debut album, his impact is just ridiculous. i obviously don’t think kanye is a better “rapper”, however he is the better “rap artist”
@@martinn5626 top 5 are permanent locks for me. 2pac, biggie, jay z, Eminem, & Nas. And I think Ice Cube and Lil Wayne are much greater, and maybe LL or Rakim
For me is still amazing and unreal how Too Pump A Butterfly was Kendrick second album, how can you make such a masterpiece when you are so young. He is just a genius, already an hip hop legend
Bro can yall even imagine wat his next album gonna be like? I get so excited for Kendrick’s music, thats how u kno he’s a true artist man. Take as long as you want Kenny, i know i ll be worth the wait.
When an album is so interesting that two years later, people are still making videos about its making, it’s REALLY fucking interesting. Great video, amazing editing.
"There is one quality which unites all great and perdurable writers, you don’t NEED schools and colleges to keep ‘em alive. Put them out of the curriculum, lay them in the dust of libraries, and once in every so often a chance reader, unsubsidized and unbribed, will dig them up again, put them in the light again, without asking favours." - Ezra Pound
Jadyn Padilla yes I was gonna say that but if he can track down the information imagine what we can learn. I know NOTHING about the album but if someone as dedicated as this can track it down that would be a WONDERFUL video
@@user-qd6im2hp2e do you really want me to name other albums that meets ur "classic" certifications? Kendrick my favorite rapper n i love damn but it's not a classic, didn't start no new trends, didn't influence nuthin it was influenced by trap and pop so it was following, and it didn't push any boundaries, so no. Ofc it was a big album it's kendrick.
This is a truly incredible video man. Gave me so much more respect for the album, and for Kendrick as an artist. You wove his narrative together beautifully.
To me his next album is his most important one of them all. I think if he brings it he is "undoubtebly"¿ one of the greats. Hes been too quiet so i believe he is cooking up some powerful shit.
iNdosOuL Vision Kendrick has already dropped two, arguably three classics. Why is this next album so important? What more does he have to prove? He’s already cemented himself as one of the greats.
@@Jerome-Boateng he has a lot to proof. Hes only dropped 3 albums, only damn is a classic and butterfly is kinda wack tbh. Section was a decent first effort.. hes becoming a legend.. he has a whole career ahead of him ... he has A LOT to prove ... fuck record sales and award shows bro.. we are talking hip hop
I love your content man, you’ve got my subscribe. And Bro, I literally can’t believe how high of quality these documentaries are. They’re literally amazing. How have you not gotten picked up by some sort of major company to make a doc for them?
The making of DAMN is so amazing and the time, resources, money and man power behind it is insane. I know he said they were all locked together for like a month or so to make it great and I can’t stop thinking about the similarities of Kanye’s MBDTF album when he sent around 3 months locked in a mansion and close to 4 million just to make that album also. Genius work and I’m grateful he sacrificed that much for a beautiful piece of art and history.
@@dondraper133 sure thanks man and don't get me wrong I still like damn alot . It just was inconsistent with tracks like yah, love, xxx and god that were very corny to me even as someone who calls kdot the 🐐. But tracks like pride, Duckworth, lust, feel, fear and dna were amazing. But for me section 80, gkmc, tpab were all more consistent, deeper, lyrically better, not all over the place etc. But even if it's his fourth best for me id give it an 8
@@ezraprzytyk I respect your opinion I think XXX. is one of my favorite Kendrick tracks ever and LOVE. is a great song about his love for his fiance Whitney and GOD. & YAH. are very complex tracks that interconnected with each other. But yeah I recommend you to check out Cole Cuchna's Dissect Podcast on October 1st 2019 he is an amazing music journalist who analyze classic albums and he is going to an immersive breakdown on the concept of the album over the course of 20 episodes. So check it out it's on Spotify next Tuesday and follow him Twitter @DissectPodcast
@2:30 I heard that album over and over and over again along with Future double Album of Hendrix you can put those two albums and I swear to you they are like musically coherent to each other.... yes as I never heard Kendrick say what he says @2:25-2:30 I mentally and thru energy knew that the album had a plan of being put together... I just didn’t know that but, I know it had a message and in the words of this homie Kendrick speaks of I had felt this was the plans about this album till nos but I know it bcuz in that time in my life my energy could connect to homies intentions with the album... the track: Feelings is literally how my mind tackled things to a tee as the way Kendrick wrote them and spit them... It’s crazy shit to think that I go thru things that homie must go thru and ponder things the same mind set and not know homie at all but relate to it as tho I was spitting those bars as tho I could rap and speak it the same... I’m not a rapper or close to his great talent to Homie Kendrick is (Kendrick Lamar is in my Top 5 Rappers I follow. Top 5 1. Tupac (Makaveli) 2. Above the Law. 3. Kendrick Lamar 4.Future 5. Early school East Coast Rappers and Crews..... I knew it had a meaning to this Album just by how it was set in order and listening to this album I knew this immediately in my core energy in my soul to say I was clearly THE ULTIMATELY UNDOUBTEDLY HANDS DOWN ON LOCKDOWN FOR THE WHOLE YEAR AND FOR THE MORE OF MANY MORE YEARS TO COME THE RULER KING DOMINANT ABLUM OF ALL TIME... RAPPER FUTURE’S DOUBLE ALBUM HENDRIX WAS A EVEN PIMPED OUT ALBUM IN SECOND TO DAMN... I got game on that... I should be part of the board even if my credential are display I know what I am saying when it comes to feeling music...
Netflix needs to stop fucking around and give this guy a deal to make a series this work is so amazing. This is video editing and documentaries I’d pay to watch!
Skillshare is a really dope place fr guys I’ve learned so much about audio engineering and have been making my own music. It’s really worth the time you put in to learn what you want.
Bro i wish Kendrick was my mentor but reality i know that the know he has discovered and uncovered was found through living and observing and paying attention in life and being real and honest so i know that to deal with my own cognitive conciousness i need to commit to it but still to get advice and tips from him would be the ultimate thing right now. It would be cool and nice to just sit down and talk to him talk with about life and experienced perception in and of and about this life and the millions of perspectives that we have imagined and the ones that in this world the beings and creatures here have not yet seen and or experienced and what theres still is to uncover
The making of his next album is really needed and i feel it coming. But would you do a the making of untitled unmastered and the making of to pimp a butterfly
