Why would people expect Kendrick to break down the battle and actual diss records in HARPERS BAZAAR WOMEN'S MAGAZINE?? 😂😂😂😂😂 dude gave an explanation of what the statement Not Like Us means to him...maybe he'll go in depth about the actual songs if or when he speaks in or on a HIP HOP platform...a lot of these hip hop journalists are just salty that the stars don't want to talk to them but then you get on your platform and give the answer YOU wanted from him talking about you don't like his response...now why tf would he talk to any of ya'll? (except Hed who I feel should get the interview)
The editor-in-chief and the creative director of Harper’s Bazaar are both Black women. The first time in history for any mainstream fashion magazine. That’s why Kendrick did the interview with them.
Soooooo basically they have 2 Black emomoyees..Yall hyped over everything. THOSE 2 women own and control nothing and are paid to do what they are told. 😂
How are educated ppl who write and analyze all day dismiss Dots answer.. NOT LIKE US is literally claiming who is and isn't and he's telling u who identifies with being like him. has specific qualities.. . the divide he kept highlighting during the battle ...the whole battle was about character wtf is west coast Wilson chatting about...break it down from the bottom - the type of women drake likes, the type of friends he has, his actions, his awkwardness, his lack of identity, his lack of cultural awareness, and taking simple rap battling personal from the Big Sean record.. sensitive rapper in his pajama clothes... HOW CAN YA'LL MISS THE POINT I really can't understand
@@KingKCAyou’re right. It’s really not complicated. The implication he’s making is drake doesn’t have any virtues, principles, or morals. Idk how this managed to go over so many heads. He doesn’t have to say drakes name to subtly shoot at him. It’s literally the same point he’s been making the entire beef.
@@KingKCA How is this giving him way too much credit? He literally said this stuff throughout the whole battle and in the interview. If you think basic media literacy is "too deep" please read a book that doesn't have pictures in it for once in your life.
Elliott is so angry about Kendrick 'Not Like Us' response via his interview w/ SZA you'd think Kendrick canceled artists shows, gotten folks jumped, had his friends doing a media tour threatening artists. Where was all that energy then. 🥴
@@DisclosureTV1 he is obsessed with Alister Crowley. Hes always referencing him in interviews and songs. Ab-Soul practices a Luciferian religion called "Thelema".
Wait so are we not gonna talk about the fact that the Editor in CHEIF of Harpers Bizarre is the first Black woman of the magazine and she had discussed doing this interview with Kendrick Lamar for 2 years!
@@mil1042 oh well heres some hiphop journalism. I did not know! Very cool 😎 loved the shots but not the interview so much. I mean it was good but very vegan. Like there was no meat, yet!!
Once i saw Ab Soul dropping i knew 100 percent Kendrick not dropping anytime soon until after. Kendrick is not about to drop to outshine or step on any rollout for Ab Soul ever
After hearing that AK was joking about sexual assault against a minor I hope that Elliott will no longer promote him by retweeting or liking any of his social media content. Toxicity mustn't be rewarded.
Been with TBP since the 1st episode. Elliott, we now 23 episodes in and you STILL pettily interrupt whenever someone else is trying to speak their piece. Please 🛑.
1:10:43 Reading comprehension has become a huge problem these days. He was asked what "Not Like Us" means to him. He said It's the energy of who he is and the type of man he represents(Which he went on to elaborate). If you can identify with him you're part of "us". The explanation addressed the meaning of the phrase. The reason this question was so important is because certain groups of people had interpreted the words differently. Those who aimed to portray Kendrick as discriminatory, or sought to promote discrimination against others, had interpreted it in this way: 1. They (Biracial/white people) are not like us (black people). 2. They (canadians) are not like us (americans). 3. They (toronto people) are not like us (The west coast). This bothered me very much because I felt this was never Kendrick's intent. There are people in those categories who love and identify with his messages who would feel slighted if that were the case. I always believed that it was exactly like he explained it. The "Us vs. Them" theme was all about character, values, and behavior rather than superficial divisions. So, in the chorus, in relation to the whole song, if you support or embody the type of behavior he portrayed Drake and his crew as having, then you're not like "US" (Kendrick and whoever identifies with the type of man he represents). His words in Watch The Party Die also reinforced this idea: "And so it’s up, if you ain’t one of ours, it’s bad news" I liked the way Genius broke it down: "This lyric reads as a warning. Kendrick Lamar is drawing a line between those who are part of his circle or share his values and those who do not. “One of ours” implies a sense of allegiance, likely referring to those who align with his idea of integrity and vision for the future-as laid out in the second verse. Those who are not aligned will have to get in line or be left behind as Kendrick continues to reshape the culture.” He released this song the following month (September) after the Bazaar interview in August, by the way. He gave us his thoughts on the beef and the current state of hiphop. Atleast consider that. “Why reason with these niggas if they can't see the future first? Why argue with these clowns if the circus is well at work? Just walk that man down, that'll do everyone a solid It's love but tough love, sometimes gotta result in violence” “Influencers talk down 'cause I'm not with the basic shit But they don't hate me, they hate the man that I represent”
Hahahahaha Jeremy!! That was smooth AF bro, props to Gina for playing along and keeping it tight! But... I think Hed is going to make this, take this to whole other levels(I hope he does). But remember, you shall NOT back down. In your words, "You can't go back now!"
I missed Elliot telling hed to SMD....yeah I officially don't like Elliot. He's a clown and I'm glad most people disrespect him when they speak about him ....he doesn't strike me as a man worthy of respect.
@@bgmck349 I think it's ok to dislike ppl. But imagine the show without him? Would you like it more? Perhaps I don't know enough about him. But I love how transparent he is, how all of them are in different ways, while keeping it in line. And I can't deny his contribution to Hiphop, plus he's a producer of the show and this is the best Pod. So he is doing something right, with a lot of quality, I just cannot deny it.
This is disrespect and out of line. I am amazed how people sit behind a phone or computer and believe it’s okay to be disrespectful. If you don’t like the show or a person you have the choice to switch to something you enjoy. You don’t know these people. If there was a remark you disliked, point that out, let’s not take it personal.
I don’t think Elliott realizes that Kendrick has been saying Not Like US for a long time. It wasn’t something he just made up. He said in the song he did with Jay Rock I think it was Wow Freestyle
this is simply the best hip hop show out in 2024, no lie. its everything: vibes, humor, fantastic banter and of course yall bring the important updates. everything joyous about hip hop is happening here and i really hope yall grow this in 2025. we need more JOY in hip hop!
@@HumanityInCrisis agreed. Plus I think Elliott would put personal preferences to the side. He’s a professional. Also, it’s not just Elliott. Joe Budden was close with Drake and I think he would still do a professional interview. But I’m still not going to my OP’s former friends first. That’s just me.
Elliot Wilson is such an hater...truth is this fool never believed in KDOT from the get go, he literally said GKMC was not a classic yet thinks every album drake has a album. FAKE
I think DJ Hed has finally admitted to being a journalist. He does research for the interviews he conducts which are conversational all the while building trust with the artists. This is the way. In a world full of Aks be a Justin Hunte. Looking forward to the discussion with Gina about Shenseea on Effective Immediately. No shade being thrown at Elliott though. He does some great interviews on The Elliott Wilson Experience, but do y'all think he can borrow a couple of the mics from this set for his show? Secret message music while Jeremy reads Hed's phone would be great for future episodes. Also if Hecht is missing for a few episodes everyone will know that it's probably because Hed got him back. This episode was very educational too. It could probably be chopped up and made into a bunch of PSAs. Until next time stay on stream (SOS) y'all.
Elliot saying it like Elliot does time n again. Elliot goes overboard with his hubris and should have more perspective than to say its BS and 'that's the truth'. Man, you're speaking on the artist here. Elliot takes 1 step forward and 2 steps back, his darkness being a drake stan for decades has left him with a few recurring disorders which shall pass with him hangin more with real people like Jeremy and DJHed. Man said 'YO JIK'! hahaha it's incredible to see the extremity from the depth of DJHeds verbiage levels to Elliot our very own AK saying 'I poured my heart out' after a near mindless rant with his mouth quivering trying to get his point across, Wayno couldnt have been more quaint, READ MORE ELLIOT!! And yes and no Elliot, Punch is talking about you, when you stoop to AKs levels. P.s.DJHed's patience is magnanimous.
Elliott: Why won't he give the answer that I wanted him to give??? Also Elliott: Why do these rappers not wanna do interviews with HH journalists anymore?!? Also, SZA asked bro about the phrase "not like us", which echoes the conversation that was happening when the song dropped of who "us" was...this is legit just his answer to that convo...she did not ask him about the song, which is where I think people are getting confused
I appreciate the fact that y'all just stick to music topics and don't deviate. These other music shows be tryna delve into politics and entertainment in general and don't nobody got time for that
Why is Jeremy not able to understand that Kendrick answered the question about the phrase/title “not like us” and what THAT specific phrase means? 😂 It is so obvious. Yes, he didn’t want to talk about the beef at all and that’s why he answered that way. That’s ok, he’s not on that anymore. He was even worried that SZA’s follow-up question was going to be mean to Drake. 😂
@@jeremyhecht Hi Jeremy! Sorry if I thought you’d read my comment I would have worded it differently. 😅 That was just my immediate interpretation of his answer and then I saw all the kerfuffle about it and found it strange.
In my opinion, Kendrick wasn't answering what the entire song meant to him, he was answering what the phrase "not like us" means. He is defining who the "us" is in that phrase. I think maybe SZA was asking about the entire song but he chose to focus on what that specific phrase meant instead.
The fact of the matter is, Igor did number so hip hop tagged along for the numbers…CMIYGL was a straight RAP album with drama on it…. This album sounds like he’s going back TYLER and it’s gonna turn off a lot of people who just want him to “be normal “
Elliot hasn’t figured out that Kendrick calling him a rat means the whole TDE x pgLang x BOF x MackWopTV might think he is one. Also, if KDot heard it, that means the narrative is floating around - West Coast. Him riding on his Drake interview don’t hold water anymore.
18:20 I heard that the Broccoli excerpt is the entire song, in fact it's not a song, he's naming the titles of 50 different songs that Drake stole from - Anyway, that's what I heard
Hip-Hop media/journalism is indeed cooked at this moment in time. The big platforms in hip-hop media are all trash (minus maybe Budden on a good day). Everyone on big platforms usually talks around the music, delves into street stuff (that has no business being displayed to the public), pushes disinformation and/or misinformation so blatantly in order to maintain relationships, & lastly l...most dont even know enough to talk about the music they are "covering" or the most part. Look how the Dot-Drake battle & Diddy case have both been covered....coverage has been in poor taste with the lack of integrity. Now watch how Durk is being covered. The integrity of the big dogs is being placed under the microscope right now. It's in the smaller platforms, where you can actually find great hip-hop media/journalism being done. Hopefully the big dogs recognize this.
The Tyler album has a lot of Halloween vibe to it and Halloween is on a Thursday so if he gets 2 days for people to digest the album, and its played at the Halloween party and the weekend after he gets a boost in sales to make up for lost days
See nah yall ain’t peep that Jermey saying he’d inherit the beef😂..ak better be shook that’s white bwoy way to smart and nice I bet he could either someone if need be
