Kenmore Elite Fan Error Code Er Rf Refrigerator Repair Model 795.72043.316 

This is the life your gonna live if you buy Kenmore Elite 795 (LG). The compressor failed after 2 years and they didn't honor the warranty, I had to pay to replace, and I have to do this "defrost procedure" every year. My old Frigidaire ran for 16 years without a problem, but the wife said it was too small, so this POS was bought from Sears which is now bankrupt - that's no coincidence. So usually I just hear the fan rattling against the ice, but this time it says "Err rF", and only the bottom of the top compartment is cool. I'm hoping it's just the fan blocked by ice, will update this comment later.

Thank you so much for the vid. We have already had to do this 2 many times. We bought this frig in 2019 and Sears already came out in 2022 or so to fix the monitoring piece and it still has to be defrosted every year. Most annoying thing that you have to take it apart so much lame. Frig cost so much when we bought it. Should have kept my old frig. All because i wanted the stainless steel and now its out of fashion lol. Lesson learned. 😂

This worked for me. I opened up the back and used a hair dryer too remove the ice block on the cooling fins and off of the fan. Thanks

I got this error and am working on a fridge this morning, but we suspect the little fan at the top with the blue LEDs, as it was making lots of bearing noise. Will report back. UPDATE: the noise I was hearing was actually the fan down lower which was on a big block of ice that was preventing the impeller from turning. That was making a grinding ice sound up the channel out the other fan. I melted the ice and got it back and running. However, these fridges apparently do this without packing the fridge shelves with food. The fridge wasn't really packed to cause this. The gasket sealed fine and didn't show any signs of leaks or condensation. I did research and found that these fridges are designed with a flaw which prevents proper airflow. You can even see how the gaps under the produce drawers don't give enough airflow. Bad design. And my parents are never happy with the fridges they've been buying lately. I am GLAD I still have my 17 year old appliance. It is made better than any of the new stuff. GUARANTEED.

never use a heat gun that gonna melt wires, uses a steamer from harbor freight. You also can warp the cavity of the unit which is not fixable.

I did it today 1hr ago and I melted all the ice which I had the same amount like you in this video. I no error code now BUT I'm not sure if it works because I don't feel any cold air going into the fridge.......does it need like few hurs to generate cold air again or something? Before I started defrost it was blowing cold air thru that little vent at the bottom but now nothing.

I have the same error code as you do but mine was not iced up. What do you suggest for me to try next

sucks that this happens on a regular basis. I bought mines in 2013. This happened in 2017 and again this year in 2021. So it seems once I fix it this year, im gonna need to fix it again in 4 years.

Always wear gloves when working with the radiator. Getting cuts are annoying.

This was an excellent video. Thank you. Can’t imagine the cost if I had to call service provider + perishables in the fridge. Sharing some of my own hacks: I used gloves to help with the sharp blades. Also, I used hot towel (wearing gloves) for my melting process. I didn’t remove the right panel as it didn’t interfere with pulling the back panel out. Also, I didn’t need to disconnect my wires. Any idea why this sort of thing happens? Thx again.

It appears your refrigerator lights were off - did you unplug it? I ask because it appears you still have food in the freezer? Thanks in advance as Im about to do this with the same issue (food in freezer)> and wondering if I need to unplug and remove food.

Our Er rF error comes on intermittently during the day. Do you think it still could be where defrosting is necessary or is it more a control panel issue?

How long did it take for the fridge to reach normal temperature after defrosting? Also should the little fan on the top keep spinning even with the doors open?

How will you know if the heat damaged something I recently did this with my freezer and now it’s working fine but I’m scared 😅

NEVER EVER EVER use dry heat to thaw your refrigerator. Use hot WATER or STEAM

Sears is telling us the compressor but I don’t think so.

Its called an evaporator my friend not a condenser
