I saw a story about a guy trying to get a marriage license in DC and they wouldn’t give him one because of his New Mexico driver’s license. Said he had to be from the US. Whole population is getting dumber by the day.
Louisiana loves to keep its residents ignorant! Dumb residents make it easy for city, local and state officials to keep the corruption going and low paying wages!
He may have known the laws but! He can only answer the issue of the complaint for the call. Which was trespassing. He can't force the worker who is not well educated on US territories that should be allowed to rent without a passport. He could have informed the worker but that may not have changed their mind regardless. He could have handled the issue better and perhaps let her know he has valid id but can't confirm that is all that's needed because he can't override the employee nor does he work for Hertz. She could have called a superior to confirm though. It's a lack of education as well as proper training by Hertz!!!! Not sure why so many people have issues with Puerto Ricans lately. Like the couple and child flying out of California to Puerto Rico and would not allow them to fly without a passport????? 🤣😂🤣Once again, lack of education and training! In training they need to emphasize American OWNED territories. Not just Hawaii, but Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, US Virgin Islands which includes St. Thomas(🇻🇮), St. Croix and St. John......there are more but if you don't know then maybe they can tell you all of them in Training so everyone knows. I will let you guess which island I'm from? 😅
Police officer: "It is midnight. This is ridiculous!" You know what's really ridiculous? You not knowing that Puerto Rico is part of the U.S., something that even a third grader knows.
He's still there and they are still violating rights. If the government won't enforce the Constitutional rights of the people, it's up to the people to defend their Constitutional rights from the government.
Doesn’t matter because they won’t do anything to these ignorant officers. If you are an adult and still don’t know that PR is a part of the United States, then there’s probably a lot of other important stuff they either don’t know or are too unintelligent to learn
In the end, it was a civil matter between the customer and Hertz (essentially due to the Hertz employee's ignorance) but the officer could have handled the situation in a much more professional manner. He was very rude and he seemed bothered to have to show up and do his job. Perfect example of why many people dislike the police.
If that was Hertz's policy on rentals as she claimed, then why did the responding officer never ask for visible in-print verification of said policy before being an asshole?
Because its civil & he could careless. The issue the customer wanted explained is PR is part of the USA & the customer has same rights as himself & the Herrz employees
I have had the most unbelievably HORRID interactions with Kenner PD. They are disgusting. All of them. That entire department needs to be absorbed by other local departments and then they need to be SERIOUSLY and HEAVILY vetted by the other departments before they are allowed back on duty .
I want that idiot cop to have to at the very least attend some court ordered classes of some kind and have to pay for them. Maybe put him on a 90 day probation too. And also make him take 5-8th grade again. This is a typical cop folks. Most are like this, especially when they think you don’t have rights…
i just watched a video of kenner police officers assaulting a member of the public and not knowing the difference between laws and policy and then disregarding the behavior of fellow officers. Maybe investagte the entire department and clean them up from the top down.
How can you NOT know that Puerto Rico is part of the United States? Worse, do they hire police in Kenner after they fail the IQ test? Did that officer ever graduate from 6th grade.?
That Puerto Rican gentlemen is a saint. I would have sued both Hertz and the police department in that jurisdiction for discrimination. Ignorance of law or policy is no excuse. Plain and simple. What despicable ignorance at its worst. Both characters should have been fired. Hey, Hertz, I'll remember you the next time I'm planning to rent a car. This is one consumer that won't forget the story.
Hertz needs to create a more diversed location. As for the police officer he definitely needs training on diversity. Whether black, white, Hispanic etc he should never to talk to anyone in that fashion. Would he talk to his chief that way?
So the chief is now in possession of the glaring reality that one of his officers will never be in any direct danger of being mistaken for a Rhodes Scholar...and to add insult to injury,,,the officer's people skills are "lacking"..
Wait...Internal Affairs investigation? So the same people that the officer works with are the same people who are going to investigate it? Hmm. That's like if it were up to other criminals to investigate criminals. Really?
The problem is not the officer with the attitude ( that is his awful personality, we can't fix that). The problem is the lack of education of American history. Puerto Rico was invaded in 1898 by USA during the war with Spain. Through the deal of deal of Paris Spain gave Puerto Rico to USA as a colony. 1917 Congress granted USA citizen to all Puerto Ricans to send us to First Big War of the 20th century. As a Puerto Rican I'm tired of explaining myself 1,000,000 times. I've had been told " go home", you have an accent, and so much crap from uneducated people so many times. Hurricane Maria is when most American learned about PR not because history because we were granted federal assistance and people was complaining about it " Why we have to help foreign countries".... is a reflection of the poor and biased education system. I am happy this happens so you know what is to live in America when you are Puertorican. Imagine explaining your rights everyone an officer does not know his/her own history. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
When the officer said “maybe you can understand the words that are coming outta my mouth” or “I don’t care where you go” condescending and disrespectful. That’s a garbage police officer 🗑️. I will never step foot in New Orleans I’ve heard how racist people tend to be.
He already has. Didn't go well. He was assaulted twice by police and his rights violated. The city council then admitted to violating Sean's rights by passing a city ordinance codifying the "law" that they forced upon Sean.
He made this man out to be a criminal he really is disgusting yet again police violateing people's rights he needs to be fired and so dose the vile excuse who works for hertz disgusting
@@karinaz8756 Naw, blame it on dems! They keep you DUMB! Also, most teachers are dems! Remember, someone created the teacher's union to ensure the union would secure dem's votes! Meanwhile, republicans ARE more likely to be patriotic than dems AND knows that Puerto Rico is a part of the United States. This wasn't a critical thinking issue, but a government class issue.
Oh for christs sake. The reason the cops are in trouble was because the cop threatens him with arrest by border control. The cop had conveniently stopped his body cam when issuing those threats.
How could you not understand that Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States of which those inhabitants are United States citizens since the year 1917? Did the elementary schools in the state of Louisiana fail this ignorant Hertz employee, and imbecile officer that much? If they don't understand the simple geography of their own country and it's territories, what else don't these two know? I expect this from maybe a Hertz employee, but a supposed Officer of the Law? Incredible, not only does the officer lack intelligence, the way he speaks to the public shows he has absolutely no emotional intelligence, empathy, or compassion, all of which make up good Law Enforcement Officers. Hopefully the former Federal Officer shows this video to a high performing legal team and the City dumps this piece of garbage before he costs the Citizens more money and heartache.
Because you recorded us you will never rent with hurts ever?! Lmfao just because of that comment I’m not renting with hertz ever! Honest to god hertz should never be allowed in Puerto Rico after this bs!
The police dept is throwing the officer under the bus police will 99.9% of the time side with the merchant and ask the customer to leave , if they don't they will arrest the customer for trespassing even if the customer has already paid for a service that they did not receive.
The Hertz employee and officer are idiots! If your police officer doesn’t know that Puerto Rico is US TERRITORY that’s a big problem! They should both be fired.
Disgusting behavior from the Police Officer. Only will get retraining, shame on this Department. Minimum 5 days suspension with no ability to use vacation time.
Welcome to the Post-Covid age. where Police (who may or may not be U.S. citizens) conduct harassment operations for Mega corporations when polite, law-abiding American citizens (such as a retired police officer and mental health administrator) for asking why they are being abused?. And then charge them for being U.S. citizens residing lawfully in the U.S. When My brother was living in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands he raised hell on his radio program and the Miami Airport when he and about 50 other U.S. Citizens from St. Croix and St. Thomas were detained and denied entry to the U.S. for not carrying a passport. He said that about half of the Citizens detained started yelling "HELL NO! LET US GO!" As Loudly as they could and INS let them go. At the time someone was trying to ram a bill through Congress requiring U.S. citizens living in U.S. Territories treated as non-U.S. citizens.
That cop would not have done that if it wasn’t culturally approved, and that apology is BS, it would have been business as usual if it wasn’t for that video!
Now you just reaching 😂😂 this story is very unfortunate but I can assure you as the black girl was just ignorant the white officer was racist and didn’t even think the man could comprehend…but ya missed that
@@1On1NaturalRebel Again, my message stands. She called the cops. We already know & HAVE BEEN calling out racism from white people. You missed what I said. “Racism against Puerto Ricans from the black community is horrible. It needs to be called out. No more!”
