Kenny Barron is one of the finest pianists in jazz. I remember him as a member of Stan Getz quartet with Rufus Reid on bass and Victor Lewis on drums. That was really something!
This piece done by Mr. Barron is so classy it's a total smoothie. Now I need a warm breezy beach and a fresh peach daiquiri so I can decompress to this. Gentle quiet surf in the background is perfect.
Kenny Barron is one of those musicians that everyone doesn't know about but the people who listen to his music know that they have heard something special.
@@tinnimac There is a lot of very good stuff "hidden" but preserved on youtube. Millions of homes have old vinyl records tucked away in boxes or closets.
@@robertl6046 I didn't know about him until I heard him on the internet and I played gigs in the fifties, sixties, seventies. It may seem strange; we were both born in Pennsylvania and I'm only 4 years older than Kenny but I've lived in California for more than 75 years.
I loved the dynamic range. It was so refreshing to hear playing that allowed everything to be clearly heard without any competition or attention seeking. Such a change from rock!
I'm Brazilian jazz singer living in Birmingham ,and I really enjoyed your guys marvelous performance redemption of Antonio Carlos de Almeida Brasileiro Jobim song.Thank You!
I listen to a hell of a lot of jazz, Kenny's influences etc. I've seen him live, I've seen other great pianists live. No one comes within a mile of the guy. I can spend hours at the piano trying to play the first couple of bars of this like he does - he makes the thing sound different. Buddy Rich, James Moody, Dizzy Gillespie to name a few.... the guy is gold.
Classical musicians from all over the world travel to Brasil to work with Brasil composers. Triste is a superb piece of music this trio has done it justice.
Drummer got perfectly the "samba-swing". Very rare to non-Brazilian drummers to get. Now, Mr. Barron is an icon in Brazil. He is a master in any language and style. Mr. Bergeron is good; he probably has listened to a number of Brazilian bossa players (Tião Neto, and...) but also to Ron Carter, who loves to come over to Rio from time to time and play joyfully with locals.
Are you from Brazil, Sir? What ist music scene like today in Brazil? Is it still possible to listen to some good, authentic samba, baiao and other styles?
Elegant, beautiful and such a wonderful pleasure to listen to again and again. He just has such a special feel for the music he is creating. Thank you for posting this special music.
I own 2 of Kenny's cds The Moment and Other Places. I got turned onto him on his tracks with Getz. I'm glad there are still dozens of Barron recordings out there I haven't heard! Great pianist.
One of my top ten favorite jazz pianist of all time! The bassist took such a lyrical solo. He doesn't sound like Paul Chambers, but he did remind me of him. And the drummer was very tasty!!
Simplemente MARAVILLOSO !!, esa música y esos músicos llegan al alma, muy virtuosos , puro talento ,.Gracias por compartir esto , buena vida , saludos desde Buenos Aires , Argentina......

funny how much more comfortable this song is in Bb. You learn this in A and you feel like you've never seen these changes- learn it in Bb and it's super familiar.
El tumbao en el minuto 2:50 envuelve al oidor en un armonioso viaje de suavidad y sabor.... El maestro dizzy gillespie no se quivoco al incluirlo en su quinteto Exelente
