Video of Kenny Chesney fighting the tears while trying to sing "better as a memory." So the fans help him out by singing it for him. Very emotional moment
People, it wasn't the song that made him cry. It was the realization of how far he's come and the end of his tour that hit home for him. It just happened to be during this song that he choked up. He is as humble as they come and I love him for that.
Every time he sings "There Goes My Life" I cry. I was just 17 when I had my son. I dropped out of high school to be a single mom. A lot of people thought I threw my life away because I didn't put my son up for adoption. I just couldn't I had to break the cycle. And after seeing his tiny little face on Ultrasound I couldn't. That baby showed me what unconditional love meant. He and I grew up together. So when this song came out it slammed home and reminded me... I gave him life and he gave me life too 💖💖💖
God Bless you and your choice. Our first child was born in 85, we were 16. by the time we were 26, and moved 3 states away from our hometown, we had 3 girls and finally my baby boy. Long story short. Our son was murdered 3/14, we have 3 beautiful girls and a great daughter in law, total of 6 grand babies. You did the right thing young lady!! Stand proud!!
I cry every time I hear it too, especially when my two beautiful princesses three and six sing it with me and they know it by heart! Keep up being a beautiful soul inside and out
Now that's an artist who cares about his music and has true meaning behind those lyrics and not singing for just the money and fame. GOD Bless Kenny Chesney!
When I was in high school, Kenny’s concerts were always the one that everyone seemed to go to and talk about. I never cared for country music. In my thirties now and wish I did back then bc man his music is great.
And even as a seasoned and true entertainer. I great. Song always hits home. Like the song written by phil vasser "sound of a million dreams" recorded my david nail
I was there also. Very emotional night. I will never for get it. Kenny Chesney will u marry me? Hey it don't hurt to dream. Didn't you all him him talking bout dreams?? Well I did. Don't judge just keep dreaming....
When singers can fill stadiums they've reached the people with their songs. When an audience sings along like that you know they love the singer and his music.
True! I’ve seen things like that at @Tim McGraw, @BillyJoel, @AlanJackson, & @GarthBrooks concerts. Some of the best ever concerts though are Jimmy Buffett’s concerts! Not only does everyone sing along word for word, heck, they throw the craziest pre-concert parties on the parking lot, usually starting the day before! They have beach balls, fins on their cars, even margarita machines/blenders in the parking lot, etc. The list goes on! All of these guys & their music are soooo loved by their fans, & they truly seem to understand how lucky they are to have that.
@@JaimeDornanLady I first saw Jimmy Buffett in 74 in St Pete. There was less than 200 people and it was just Jimmy and another guy playing guitar Roger. Jimmy picked on him good naturedly all night and he had just released his first album. When he played He Went to Paris It went straight to the heart. The last line became etched in our hearts. Some of it's magic and some of it's tragic but I had a good life all the way. Then he did God's Own Drunk and played for over 2 hours. Will always be one of my favorite concerts even though I've been to his others. Kenny Chesney has done similar things at his concerts but I haven't been to his yet. He made the video at Tampa stadium for Can't we all get along and I wish I'd known. He includes the Bucs pirate ship which is perfect. Huge Bucs fan too lol 😂 Lots of awesome concerts at that stadium. Didn't mean to get lost in nostalgia but Stull love the memories.
@@LilliePatrick LOL! It was the last concert of his tour that year. They were taking a break for awhile. His emotions got the best of him. It was a great concert, We were there in the nosebleed seats. LOL
@@Geminilee79 he talks about it at the beginning of the video. This was his last concert of the tour. He realized in that moment how blessed he was and his emotions got the best of him.
We went to the 1st show of the 2024 Sun Goes Down tour in Tampa on 4/20 !!!!!!!! The level of energy in the crowd was absolutely incredible!!!!! And the crowd including myself and my girlfriend sang every song at the top of our lungs and we never sat down ! We did have happy tears ! Kenny is an incredible performer and he totally connects with the fans ! He’s our absolute favorite and we have 3 more shows to go to this year !!!!!! And we will be there singing and dancing like crazed lunatics !!!!!!
Yea that was really awesome and cool to see how they all got louder and sung it with/for him because he couldn't hardly do it. Instead of making fun of him or ragging him or just standing there they just did it with him. That was cool. I can only imagine how he felt for that
Yes I can tell you real men cry i going through a hard time right now with court so I'm able to see my son I love him very much and I miss him dearly but my mom stepped in after the situation was under control and now I have to fight to see him 💔
@@mikeyv73 He was burned out from being on the road so much. He decided it was time to step away from music and take a much needed break and wasn’t sure when he would come back.
Damien Cross love love Kenny since the first time he sang..always knew he would be a great country star..good luck keep going..how about a TV series???? Merle
Love Kenny and his music. He's a super great guy, humble, appreciative, great performer, great artist. But.... The greatest country artist ever? Noo, not close. That's impossible when you have artists like George Strait, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks. Again, love Kenny, mad respect, just definitely not the greatest. But I certainly respect your opinion.
Thanks for the love and support. I decided to take out time today out of my busy schedule to get close to my fans and know their thoughts towards my career and I came across you through my official RU-vid CHANNEL insight.
I remember seeing him perform at the Electric Cowboy Bar in Denver in 1993. He was covering Hank Jr, and George Strait and talking about how one day he hoped to go big. Glad he got to realize that dream. Went from playing at bars with maybe a hundred people to selling out football stadiums. Such a great guy!
BackwoodsHunter.243 when I was in the army I went to a friend's house in Tennessee and he was playing. he came around with a huge pretzel jar collecting tips and selling CD for 3 4 dollars. same thing with brad paisley
This is four years old...And my husband is singing Kenny's song tonight! I adore him even more after seeing this! It just shows how much the music and fans mean to him.💕Luv ya Kenny💕

The whole place was singing his song. I bet this has to be the very best feeling for him that he ever had. He couldn't even do most the song and I think it's cool how he let the crowd have there moment. This is a awesome video.
+wildpackTV yes, I think too this will be a treasured memory for Kenny, he will reflect back on this one song, this crowd and how they completed him when he could not go forth.
+wildpackTV As a singer/songwriter hearing a crowd singing your songs back to you is the best feeling in the world. I played a sold out show (376) in my hometown and hearing them sing my songs was the best feeling. I can only imagine 60,000+
I've played small bars for years, and when 10 fans (drunk bar goers) learn and sing along to my songs I feel like I'm on the very top of the world. I can't even imagine what it feels like for an entire stadium to carry you through. Awesome.
He doesn't only sing , but he means every word and he doesn't take his funs for granted. I once used the words of his song..Good stuff to help a young man who was struggling with his young marriage...
How precious for him to stumble and trust in his fans to pull him through, to feel comfortable with his talent and manhood to put that faith in thousands of people he has probably never and will never even look in the eye. Touching to say the least.
The emotions that must have been going through his mind had to have been overwhelming. Every emotional song and moment, it's amazing he was able to still sing that good! Kenny is one of the few modern country singers that I like listening to!!
Jt Howard I Can Relate To Every Word Of This Song.. Country Music Is Real.. When You Come Across The Rite Song. Your Feelings & Heart Melts In The Song You Actually Feel and Listen To Your Life Journey I’m Better Off As A Memory 👊🏽
I love a live performance when you can feel the love being projected to the audience and then they project that love back to the performer. Real men do feel their emotions and real men do cry.
I remember when Kenny’s early career took him to Holdrege Nebraska 2000. Great show he jogged throughout the town and played basketball in the parking lot with kids
@KennyChesneykc hi there cowboy.....how are you doing tonight??? Not sure how to use the number you gave me...... email address maybe?????? Or just a text????? Too many numbers for a phone number......help me out here.....would you??????? Never mind I got it!!!!!! Number for .....
it seems all the true legends never take their gift and music for granted. here is just another example of how honest the music is and how it is from the heart!!
The power of music in this video and performance touches my heart. It's absolutely beautiful. I've been in a Kenny Chesney concert crowd before and it's powerfully moving. He gives his all and doesn't take a second of it for granted. I feel truly blessed that he is a member of country music!
I've seen so many GREAT country artists in concert--Reba, Tim/Faith, Carrie, Brad, you name it. I'm not even that big of a KC fan, but his concerts are just a different level than any other I've been to. He is just mesmerizing onstage, you stand, sing, dance, hug strangers, and have the time of your life from start to finish. It's just hard to explain, but somehow Kenny makes you feel connected to him AND to everyone else at the concert, it's a huge party with thousands of your closest friends. I've been to 4 or 5 now, always the same. He's not the best singer, not the best songwriter, but he has a gift for live performance that is rare indeed. If you ever get the chance, GO!!!
Jacob McCarty Seriously, it truly is a gift some artists have, and idk what it is. It's not that all the other concerts were bad, they were great performances that I really enjoyed, it's just that Kenny and some others have this gift of making everyone feel personally involved. You're not sitting there watching him sing, you're connected to him and the crowd and you BECOME part of the show, too. That the best way I can think to explain it, and even that's not exactly right. Ya just gotta be there yourself if you really want to know. It's a little bit of magic, and I highly recommend it!👍👍👍
How awesome to have fans to sing back to you..your own words! Fell in love the first time I saw him live. Still one of my favorite live performances, ever!
God keeps him humble. I just cant wrap my head around how they do it all, everyone, the crew, the drivers, all around him. Hes truly my favorite guy ever. I hope hes enjoying himself at the end of the tour, thinking of the next adventure.

If that was his last show ever and I’m not saying it was because I don’t know 🤷♀️, I can say well done 👍 to the man for his career! He can’t top that!
And to think at my first Chesney show at Gillette, he pulled up to me in a golf cart and asked what I had in the garden sprayer I was carrying? I said it's margarita but you can't have any because you're driving. I had no idea who he was until after he says " that's awesome!". As he drove off I saw the second cart with the video guy following him then the 200 or so girls chasing him. I laughed my ass off.
He is the real deal. Kenny should be an inspiration for all. Dreams do come true. You have to dream them first then chase them with reasonable expectations. Sooner or later they will result in life changing results. Just believe in yourself.
To the people who were saying that he wasn't really crying is a load of BS, I see the light glistening on the tears on his face. If you can't see that, you're blind.
MetalGirl4Life100 I've seen singers fake tears, without even looking at his face you can tell this isn't fake. You can tell a mile off just by listening to his voice.

Me and you was a song I played for my grandfather. I remember meeting Kenney for the first time 1997 him and Mila Mason at Walmart in Round Rock Texas, they signed my guitar and this very day I still have, I can't believe how much people want to pay me for it. I followed you bot,. Kenney you have kept my dreams going. No one has the same dreams as us talented gifted individuals. I have been singing since I was very young. when my Grandfather moved away to Mexico I remember what he told me, don't let no one shoot your dreams down, or keep you from singing and writing your music. My Grandfather Tony and I would jam on our guitars, I am proud to be a Latina with who loves and desires country music. My grandfather said Miya you have always loved music it's okay to be a dreamer you need to grasp on your music and sing your heart out. Miya never forget where you came from, I am so much wiser I understand. Thank you Kenney for being the Man that God has made you today. Sending Love and Light your way and wishing you a amazing life you deserve you worked so hard, on your diets and working out Go Kenney. You are very blessed and you make everyone proud and as well as my Grandfather Tony. Thank you for touching other people lives, wishing you the most comfort of joy and happiness. Just keep on singing and writing because their are many Angels watching you and looking over you. always "Jeanette Perez" Known as Gigi Perez.
When I hear THERE GOES MY LIFE, I see my daughter, her husband and my 3 wonderful grandchildren moving to a new and better life in another state. I miss them terribly but they are doing wonderful away from here. They are building their lives and wonderful memories!!
Adrian Avila I've always been a kenny chesney fan. An love to hear him sing in concert over the years. He has a heart an cares about his fans that support him on stage an his songs. his songs come from the heart. An he sure can bring out a crowd .An he is a good caring guy.an not like others I have known. u can see he is real an not fske. I always like kenny chesney an his songs & men wth a heart like kenny will cry.an that's the real side of men we don't see. An kenny chesney has love in his heart an for others who said those was fake tears. It's wrong for them to say that a him. kenny is real an not fake an he has helped so many who has needed help in the world. He gives from the heart. An he said in one of his interviews he is a lover not a fighter an I can see that in him..an he works hard for his songs.an he wants his fans to be happy. & wanted country music to be about what's in his heart that he writes an sings about. that's what it is all about an it means something to him. I hope to go see him in concert this summer coming up in may. I have been wanting to go the next time he comes to town in concert. I hope to get to go this time an don't want to miss it this time.
I get goosebumps every time I watch this video. Music and words can change the world and bring about the most powerful emotions in all of us. I know this first hand.
I have never ever been so touched as I am right now listening to Kenny trying to sing Better As A Memory but the tears got to him. His fans carried him through the song as all of his fans sang word for word Better As A Memory. Wow. Still crying. See people how fans make it for the entertainers. Without the fans their would be no career for the artists we love. We carried them through the good and bad.
Thank you for the love and support. I decided to take out time today out of my busy schedule to get close to my fans and know their thoughts towards my career and I came across you through my official RU-vid CHANNEL insight.

nothing but absolute respect for this man, I'm not ashamed to be a huge fan of his, I love his music, and his passion for his country and music. I'm canadian but I can still appreciate his love for an awesome country, and I can say we have some of the greatest neighbours in the world living south of us.
This man! One of his songs I've lived in. Cry every time I hear it! So glad he made the "big time" this world is a better place because he is in it! This was really moving.
Kenny has always been and always will be a kind generous beautiful soul. Very first time I heard this song I was going through a devastating trauma and man oh man did I bawl like a baby. 10 years later I still choke up hearing it. Lots of love to the one and only KC
Sums up why I'm so fond of this guy. He is real. Rather than struggle to compose himself to carry on he kissed the humbling moment, blessed it and let it go for what it was. It's no wonder why his fans are so true blue and didn't mind stepping up to carry him for a round, or two.
Wow... that was beautiful... Kenny has been my FAV since mid 90's. My oldest daughter grew up listening to him with me and now my 7 year old daughter loves his music too.. He sings from the soul and his music has always touched me.
