Such a deep harmonic dive, thank you! Could spend weeks trying to process and still barely scratch the surface. And that on top of KD's incredible articulation and phrasing, which I can't even begin to comprehend. Damn.

There's a lot to learn from this masterful KD solo. Sadly he was very underappreciated while he was alive and even had to work in a music store to make ends meet. Ross Russell said some unkind things about Kenny in his (otherwise very good) Parker biography which possibly had a negative effect on his career.

Love your channel. Have you delved into any of his sideman stuff with Joe Henderson (maybe the album In and Out)?

Regarding the Cmin7 to Bdim7 transition near the end of the first chorus, could he just have substituted Bmin7 for Bdim7? The C#, B, and F# notes he plays fit Bmin7, but the C# wouldn’t fit a F half-whole diminished scale diatonically. Great video, by the way!

I play the acoustic guitar and take heavy influence on horn players (Rollins, Henderson, baker, etc) for learning to improvise in a jazz setting. Would u think (at an amateur level) establishing the 3rd say of the chord and the 7th of the next chord and work on connecting the dots in various ways? Managing the chord changes while becoming proficient in creating lines?

I been having braces for about 4 months, so far I sound the same since I got braces, which is very bad. I have a lesson which he has been helping me alot, but I feel like I'm comprimising time. So I'm wondering if you got any tips. Thankyou (Btw, I'm a freshman)

Wow what a great solo. I can't help thinking that his melodic flow is a lot like Chet Baker but with twice as many notes.

Definitely more notes, but definitely some similarities in terms of melodic contour. They both had their roots in bebop, so there's probably a lot of fundamental language in common. Some day before long I'll do a Chet Baker series and we can compare them!
