He was the king of irony and wit. Kenny was at his best, when he was given the freedom to be spontaneous. Great entertainer and comedy innovator. RIP Kenny.
I bloody love Kenny Everett. I knew him from TV though and lately I keep hearing about his cutting edge radio career that I apparently missed out on, so thanks for this priceless morsel.
OH! how I wished I'd kept my old recordings. Memory modules, God squad, fiddly classical bits, kremmen erm---AAAAGGGHHH it's so long ago now those golden moments are fading in my memory. I feel culturally deprived.
He was truly a comic genius, both on radio and Television. Couldn't he just come back to this world for one day or week even....and give us all a laugh again?
You don't know what you had till it's gone we are so lucky there is all these sound bits out there for generations to enjoy what we grew up with. The man was ahead of his time just think what he could produce today god bless cuddly ken our radio friend x
Thank you. I'm currently researching Kenny for (what I hope will be) a series of articles, so it's great to find these radio snippets of the Kuddly One, and not only that, but I think you did a great job of finding images to go with the sounds.
This is a wonderful selection, and I'm now just realizing how brilliant the slideshow is; it's a very important component of this RU-vid. Just linked to this on my newly relaunched blog.
Ohhhhh Cuddly Ken! Those were the days my friends, we thought they'd never end. We'd sing and dance for ever and a day. We'd live the lives we choose, we'd fight and never lose, for we were young and sure to have our way. Nostalgia fest in full force.
my fav bit? when harry Nielson makes up a song live on air with kenny's backing track at 7:46. two geniuses! Honestly, radio just cant touch this today....
I really miss Cuddly Ken. I thought it was a bit of a coincidence that she passed her driving test first time as well. This is a comment for the terminally old ! Thank you for sharing this x x
We cant possibly have such individuality and genius on the radio or TV it might frighten our advertising clients. so now we appoint management to deal with the entire employment / screening of potential presenters.
it would be awesome english subtitles. I'm not from UK/US, and Kenny Everett's stuff caught my eye. He had such a pompous flamboyant accent. It's a little bit hard to understand(such as almost all those old stuff from BBC)
WOW! Brilliant stuff and brilliantly edited (makes my efforts look like rubbish!) Congrats! I have some Kenny on my channel and also on mjvatloppers. I WAS going to do "Moment Of Terror" - with the belch thru a Watkins Copycat? - but it SHOULD be on VinylFun's "Capital Radio's First Birthday Record" - I'll go check and if it's not there, I'll post THAT sometime. Keep up the GREAT work!
