I have just watched "Lolo and the Kid" and decided to go back here. I never had any true feelings about this song until I watched the movie and made me cry. I never truly realized this song is one of the best songs I listened to. I knew this song already and played or heard it hundreds of times, but this is the first time I actually truly felt feelings for, the first time I understand the lyrics, it's like I just listened to this song the first time. Thank you Kenny Rogers for making amazing songs!!!

I lost my wife of 44 years in February 2021, during our courtship & early years of marriage, we had a lot of difficulties & and adversities, but we had 44 years together, which I'm truly grateful for, I wished I had come across this song whilst she was around. Every time this song was played at a wedding we attended, I found my husband….or he found me….and we danced to this song. For so many years. Then….in 2014 he was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer….not a smoker…..and I find myself playing this song every few months….over 8 years and we’re still here…..our 45th Anniversary is in a few weeks…..this song is both of us….singing to each other…..I don’t know how much time we have left, but I’m grateful for every day……♥️

I had planned to sing this song to my adored husband on our 20th wedding anniversary. Two weeks before that, he told me it was over, completely out of the blue. We were the closest couple I knew. He said it wasn't me, he just wanted to be free again. Absolutely devastated when he divorced me 2 years later. 5 years on, I still pray every day that he will turn his heart towards me again.

In the 90s On Valentine nights we listened to this and songs like this way into the night, talking about our love, hope, and aspirations. After uni we went our separate ways as life happened to us. I hear she is married with kids now. And i, too, have also moved on with life. Whenever i hear this song, it reminds me of how innocent, pure, tender and wholesomei love was for me in my late teens. I'm grateful that in my lifetime, i experienced this type of love that can never be replicated in adult life

This may sound crazy but I chose this song to end the video we made for my mom at her memorial. At the end of her long and special life she had Alzheimer’s. I spent many hours and days sitting with her, enjoying her even though she may not be able to say a word. She was the best mom! It has been 4 years since I lost him and I have never stopped crying. He was the kindest and most thoughtgul man I knew . He died in April and he just turned 64 in February. I will Never love anyone again. He was my one and only until I pass from.This earth. If there is an afterlife, I hope he is waiting for me so that I can be In his arms again. A few strange things happened to me since his death and I am not afraid of these things. I just want him to come home again just one more time. so just want to hold him.and yell him how much in love with him I have always been . a that love will never go away.

Played this song and a few others for him during his last days in his bedroom in Quezon Province, Philippines 😢 We’d open the windows early morning to let him hear the sounds of tricycles, school kids talking while walking to school and he would even hear the taho (soy bean curd with boba and brown sugar) man yelling “Taho” selling his breakfast dessert. This was my late hubby and I loved song. I played and sang it while l was laying beside him after he left my heart. I put his arms around me, and laid my head on his chest wishing I could still hear his heartbeat once more. But it was over no more heartbeat. When I got up the doctor and nurses were standing at the door crying, It was the first time they had ever seen something like this. It has been now 27 months, still, sing it and cry.
