I just can’t believe how old lightly you seem to fret those notes. I have to wonder what the action on that guitar is like? Such a simple exercise that you make looks so easy. I sure wish I could get that light of a touch
He’s referring to chord tones, or the numbers from the major scale that build chords. In the G major 7th arpeggio he starts with, it is based off the G major scale: G (1) - A (2) - B (3) - C (4) - D (5) - E (6) - F# (7) When he says to play the 1, he means G. When he says to play the 3, he means B. When he spells out the arpeggio as 1, 3, 5, 7 it means the notes are G B D F#. The reason for referring to chord tones instead of the notes is that it lets you say the same concept from a different starting point. Like when he switches to the A major 7th arpeggio, he can still say to play 1, 3, 5, 7 and the notes become A, C#, E, G#
