You provide such a great resource with these videos, Master Seabrook! Thinking about the left hand I would add that having the left hand raised as a positional check also chambers it as ready for opposing forces as you prepare for the right palm strike.
Good morning Mr Jamie! As I have practiced thrusting salute for a very long time love this technique ! But I've always pictured it against someone who's not an experienced kicker ! It's Friday night at a bar and 300lbs buba has had one too many beers and thinks he is a Jean-Claude Van Damme ! The kick it's self is lunging thrusting kicking step! Favorite part of the technique is that thrusting heal palm to the head! Thank you as always for sharing!
Yes, it will likely be a sloppy front kick lunging forward from someone with no training. I agree with you that this is a great technique. Thanks for your comment.
@@SeabrookMartialArtsAcademy I alter the groin kick to for a push kick for sparring. It’s fun to see what Kenpo techniques can be compounded with Kenpo freestyle techniques or Kickboxing/Muay Thai techniques.
@@ryandemarest3202 Nice. I was going to show how to substitute the right front kick for a right knee to the groin and the right heel palm for a right inward horizontal elbow (similar to Gift of Destruction) if the opponent is closer but there is only so many things I can focus on in a short video.
Have always loved this technique ! After the kick and you deliver that Palm strike to his jaw with everything behind it you won't be able to do the extension because you just knocked his head off !😂
Thank you for your comment. When you say it is different than the Ed Parker version, and that it is a lot shorter, I am curious what specific lineage you are from. I have seen countless lineages perform this extension and almost every one end at the exact same spot that I do, so it is definitely from Ed Parker. The foot maneuvers in Thrusting Salute help show variations in foot maneuvers with Unfurling Crane, Circling Fans, and Entwined Maces.
@SeabrookMartialArtsAcademy I'm sorry if I sounded like a troll. That wasn't my intention. Here's a link to Mr. Parker's writeup of Thrusting Salute in his 1st brown belt journal. drive.google.com/file/d/14bPnLuxXmKN2UXH_WTYtFpmAD-nDyW-i/view?usp=drivesdk Maybe I'm seeing things wrong, but this extension has a right chopping punch, after the left inward elbow, and you do a straight punch? Am I wrong? Isn't a chopping punch palm up, more like an Uppercut? And after the chopping punch, Mr. Parkers version has two more looping strikes. That's why I left my comment. Do you have the journals? I thought you intentionally altered this technique. It actually looks pretty good.
No worries at all brother. Most of the Kenpo seniors that I know do a horizontal punch exactly like I teach it, not a chopping punch (despite what some of the manuals say), especially if you aim your punch to hit the top of the pubic bone which lines up perfectly for the horizontal fist. I used a punch higher up on my uke but I could have struck the pubic bone also.
Nice! In my application, I have decided to go with a crescent step rather than the front crossover, unwind (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qFQrDETvx94.htmlsi=m_0jnjAI5sRe40AQ). Keep them coming!
