Hey! did you just follow those directions on Tsuki's mod page???? Don't! you'll end up with a weird artifact with the UI and washed out colors. HERE'S WHAT YOU DO! -Go back to the reshaders and uninstall the reshader! - go to @12:26 on this video and pause it! -reinstall the shader! -at the part where Tsuki says to just add his .ini at the bottom for the shaders. Dont! -Go back to this video -Look at the ones he has (Especially the ones in parenthesis) -Look through the shaders for the shades that are on this video @12:26 ! -Install those -Hit Finish
@@HeroInHisHead then let me be more specific in what I had to do. Currently if you simply install Tsuki's reshade, It produces really washed out colors and a weird mask that's out of sync with the UI. Maybe fiddling with the settings will fix it, but at the time I didn't even know you could do that. So I went through your video and found your reshade list and only installed the ones that you had checked. I ended up disabling vignette, and realizing that you can fiddle with the shader settings. so I disabled all the shaders and individually figured out what does what. For mine I started off with clarity and added from there.
i run on laptop so i doubt i be able to do this lol. dont want to burn up the pc..... but its cool that its possible. i think i did install one of these versions and did like the look but opted out due to performance issues. to be fair this game is so good. i dont notice the graphics after few hours i was lost in the world anyways.
Great walkthrough, I'm upgrading from 960 to 1080ti, which is below your level, but the changes (that I had to lower somewhat given my pc potato status) still give it a fresher graphical vibe. Thanks!
Never looked into reshade for kenshi before, just too weak a system previously lol. I'm excited because the lighting adds so much to Kenshi's vibe. I can attest, as someone with a 1660 and an $80 CPU, that lower shadows save me around 5-12 frames. There is a kenshi specific optimisation profile on nexus (only for NVIDIA afaik) that apparently saves a ton of load time. I haven't tried it out yet but the majority of the comments agree that it's pretty effective.
Just those two first applications had a superb effect on my pc preformance across the board, shut my fan up and stopped the shuddering on my mid range lap-top. Looks great and plays bloody good due to this vid!
What's your setup? With some minor adjustments it might to be honest. I made this video to show how accessible great graphics on kenshi can be if done right
had to drop a comment here since this video is what introduced me to your channel. Thanks a lot man, the reshade makes the game even more breathtaking than it was. Sometimes I just hide the UI and watch my vagabonds trek across the sand with the sun setting behind them. almost makes you forget the incredible violence in kenshi
@@EarthToSimo F7... If you are on a laptop it would be function and F7. I'm seeing some people say it doesn't work for them, but I loaded into my world and tried it out and it worked for me. This is game changing, I had no idea.
I highly advise caution using Ccleaner for clearing registry entries. This can brick your OS and to an inexperienced user will require a fresh install of windows. PC optimization programs is more like snake oil than beneficial. The best thing to do is minimize all background applications from running at startup in task manager as you said and also make sure you are not running any 3rd party anti virus programs as this majorly kills performance on your PC. Windows defender is all you need and is free and doesn't bog the PC. Tried the reshade and GFX settings and is running flawlessly on my 10850k and 3070.
As I have explained in other comments. I advise against using anything other than its default selections. I have used CCleaner for well over 10 years with no issues in the slightest. Issues occur when people try to customize the program without understanding what they are doing or customizing. However the same concept can be applied to manually cleaning your PC as well so I feel its a bit moot. With that in mind I do advise people to air on the side of caution and never use a program you don't feel comfortable with. However in terms of explaining my own optimization of Kenshi I found using CCleaner for registry cleaning to be efficient and effective.
Also was reading through posts and i guess you can pair tsuki with SSSAO so you can add shadows to alot of objects and make it look even better. Not sure what your full modlist is. And im sure a 3060ti would be able to handle it but i think if other ppls system is on the lower side itd probably best to avoid adding more shadows all together lol.
Thank you for helpful video. You can push most major terrain GFX sliders (view, terrain, building etc distances important for visual enjoyment :) to right further than in your video with RTX3000 series, but not worth pushing grass out further as it is not a real 'pop-up' problem. Upgraded from 980Ti to 3080 and all sliders now maxed with no loss, and yes, have run Tsuki for years. IMHO, setting ALL reflections is more of a performance issue, especially with very old game engine, I only have Landscape reflections. Browse Nexus, there are two new well-developed performance mods (not just snake oil!) released in May2023 that look very promising. Bandy here and Bandy at steam Kenshi forum, fun helpful community and well moderated.
I feel like this plus one of the FPS performance optimisers would par really nicely together and would allow you to have further view distance without it causing issues. Due to the FPS optimiser removing cluster that regularly causes lag. Im running just the optimiser at the moment and it made a huge difference for me. Im going to see if this mod plus the optimiser are compatible because i feel like it would make a huge difference. Thank you for the indepth description of what youve done!
Hello, thank you very much for this video. Works great even with V3. I wanted to also thank you for all the lore videos amazing. I want to reinstall the game and dive into the lore once again as I didn't much in my first playthrough. That said, do you have a mod list (I searched your videos but couldnt find one) or a recommended mods that doesn't really change the actual lore? Any insight would be great, thank you!
Literally redownloaded kenshi about an hour ago and am doing research to figure out what my ideal modlist would look like. One thing I'd like to say though is idk if cccleaner is really helping you all that much. Its most likely not doing any harm but i think most of the cleaning its doing can be done easily manually. And im not positive its going to boost performance for kenshi all that much. But if you have more insight into why it helps please lmk.
Specifically it helps with defragmenting your registry. Kenshi's engine is pretty outdated and not optimized for modern gaming. As a result there tends to be a LOT of redundant strings and endless scripts that run and cause registry issues. Effectively it means when you run kenshi the game has background processes that don't lead anywhere. Cause bloating in your save. And slow performance on meaningless tasks in the background. CCleaner is a easier way to Defrag than manually doing it and can alleviate those issues. It's not a HUGE boost. But it is definitely noticeable.
@@HeroInHisHead ahh that makes sense. I've been told for most things CCleaner handles its not really needed and even has the potential to delete what it believes is an uneeded blank registry key, but is in fact needed lol. But that makes sense. I would not want to manually go clear that junk out. I just built a slightly higher end rig so I'll probably skip that step for now. But if I start having performance issues I will 100% keep that in mind. Thanks! Was eyeballing this mod and I'm glad I came across your vid. Really sold it for me. I'll drop ya a like and sub while I'm here 🤙
@@sethwinters3556 I will say in my own experience. I've been using CCleaner with its Default Selections for 10 years and never had an issue. People have issues when they start selecting things they shouldn't. If you stick with the Default all is well in my experience
@@HeroInHisHead yeah my rule of thumbs is always to proceed with caution when using something like that, because it's not always possible to undo what's been done. Duely noted, and i appreciate you getting back to me man
Did you stick with TSUKI V2? I see a few comments on V3 that make me nervous, and your Kenshi is definitely one of the better Kenshi's I've seen. I think I'll install V2 for now.
wild guess... you're not running windows 11, are you? i was a big fan of the ccleaner in the past, but beginning with windows 10 and 11, i started to have major issues, wich forced me to reset windows at the end, because the way windows updates its programms interferes with some CCleaner doings, wich results in windows updates not propperly becomming installed. i strongly reccomend to make sure, to not harm your system more than you help it unless you have multiple gobacks in place to enable yourself to undo some changes if nessecairy.
Great video though for those of us with gaming rigs it's definitely overkill - I typically run the construction set in the background (the game doesn't like this sometimes but I prefer it for modding) and run Kenshi on max everything with max pop settings constantly bouncing between squads in multiple cities and outposts without any hiccups. I don't run hundreds of mods though - mostly just my own. So maybe that's why so many have performance issues...
Totally fair point. I mostly made the segment about PC optimization to assist those who maybe dont have an up to date rig. I wanted my graphical setup to be both asthetically pleasing and accessible to a wide range of people regardless of their hardware. But you're correct it is a bit much, although I personally don't think you can go overboard when optimizing your pc performance 😅 give me all those extra frames I can't even see lol
@@HeroInHisHead I was honestly surprised by people in the comments having potato rigs in 2024... When I started PC gaming floppy disks were still around... and my "first computer from my parents" didn't even have enough colors in the OS to play games that used discs. I had dial up internet through socal freenet (parents couldnt afford AOL dial-up!) -- tv? you had to turn the antenna pole outside just to get the 1 or 2 channels to have less static lines and hopefully you could eventually both see and hear the screen when you were done...then ofc you had to watch Seinfeld or Love and Marriage because that's literally all that there was.. I saved my lunch money (no lunch!) for 2 years (until I was 10) to buy my first real computer ($399 before taxes/upgrades). I paid extra to upgrade to a whopping 256mb ram...(using 2 sticks!) and my games still stuttered at minimum settings if they even started. Now it's 2024 and you can make enough in one week of gig work to buy a legit gaming rig... no sympathy there my friend.
@johnwoolman2513 I mean as of 2024 the cost of living has gone up 400% in the U.S and our pay didnt rise to match my man. Most people prioritize bills and keeping their families going before dropping $1800+ on a quality gaming pc. I myself as a kid had to focus on finding food and heat to much to worry about my PC and even as an adult I work in a upper level white collar position and still don't usually have a spare few hundred to drop on upgrades in good conscious. I get what you're saying, but I don't think it's a "bootstrap and save" issue.
I've tried installing this shader several times, but whenever I open the reshade menu I never get those settings and the only 2 settings that appear active are the UI mask settings, everything else is missing for me???
I simply have to ask. How the heck did you get your shadows to look so well or even work? xD I even copied your settings and my ingame shadows are... just awful. They just get cut off the moment they reach a distance or just look weird and unconnected to anything. Does the shader actually affect how the shadows themselves work or do you have something additional for that?
@@HeroInHisHead Hi! I got a 1080 monitor, so that might be the issue for all I know. The only way the shadows look decent is if I set the distance to max and even then it gets to look wonky depending on the direction of the shadows
Will Copying your settings run smoothly for me? Im on a 1440p with a 3900x cpu, 3080 10gb and 36gb ram also why am i getting long loading times when i split my party up and travel into new areas (reactive world mod)
You might need some minor to shadows or textures but your setup is beyond mine so to be honest you may be good to go even at 2k with my settings. I don't think it would hurt to try and see how long you can go without stuttering and crashing. As for longer loading times when your party is split. That's limitation of the engine. Granted this process will help thay TREMENDOUSLY, it will still happen on occasion as the game is essentially running the entire game (even areas you aren't at) mathematically behind the scenes, while simultaneously trying to actually generate multiple locations graphically. It can be taxing and the engine is pretty outdated as it is. Mayne try ticking the larger chunk loading box in your graphics if you haven't already? It loads larger areas at a time which can help reduce the frequency of stop gaps in load times Hopefully that helps and like I said. These steps should up your performance pretty significantly regardless of the old engine.
Thanks for such a quick response man, cant wait to try these and I Will let ya know it handles. Been a subscriber for only a short while but loving the content
@@sircalsiam9032 this game is heavily CPU bound to a single core/thread. A higher IPC single core CPU would greatly boost performance, a decent SSD for good load times and fast RAM. Use MSI afterburner and you will see your GPU will not be 100% ultilized. Your platform would get the most boost from a 58003d CPU. Great single core performance compared to a 3900. I ran this game from 1080p to 4k and my performance did not change indicating a CPU bottleneck. This is with a 10850k and a 3070 with hero's gfx settings
@@sircalsiam9032 forgot to add in the Tsuki mod page you will see other recommended mods that boost performance and speed up load times. I haven't tried it myself but the user reviews claim boosting loading and fps significantly with potato PCs
bro, i was having problems when the loading pop up show up, if i move the camera the game would crash, and now with cc cleaner and the razor thing is smooth, thx, now the game is great srry bad english
Hey, I'm here regarding a different series of yours, specifically the base building tips. I believe that a full-on guide like that would be great in video form! Have you already thought about this?
Ahoy. Been a while but I just remembered this comment and wanted to pop back to let you know I have 2 videos up right now of just that. If you haven't seen them, you may enjoy.
I play on a steamdeck and run on the very high graphic settings fine but doesnt look as good, idk if those programs would help with that or is it mainly cause of that mod. I still dont know how to download mods outside of the workshop lol.
It could be a resolution issues. I also haven't played with the steam deck yet so I'm not sure. Does it have a custom OS or does it run like a desktop? Can you file edit and what not?
I can jump without too much issue beyond load times. But that's not something hardware will fix as it's a bottleneck built into the outdated OGRE engine. Of you do it too rapidly however you do risk a crash
Its definitely not an incompatibility issue with anything I've told you to do here as the only mod being installed is related to the ENB. Everything else is base game settings and computer optimization. What's your specs because it sounds like a memory load issue. If your computer starts to exceed its memory capacity, it will crash the game. Try downsizing the shadow settings, and some of the flavor settings and see if that helps. Let me know
Absolutely my guy. In this video i was running a 3060ti, however I used this set up on a 1660ti with no issue at all so it's very friendly. A 4070 should tear through with no issues
Verify your game cache then and try a fresh install. It's likely a conflict on your end because I've still no issue with this setup nor has anyone else I've assisted with it. With that being said what's your PC specs. Could be a memory or processor issue as well
Current specs are an i7 with 16gb ram and a 3060ti 8gb GPU. However running this exact setup until recently I had a 1660ti 6gb GPU so it's pretty accessible
I use to play in other memory, I move the game to other one and now is saying that can’t save my configuration bc I need to put to write the tsuki.v2.ini Someone know what to do?
This comment doesn't really make sense for the application cortex is being used for. You don't need razer gear to utilize its booster application to free up background RAM. Which is what it's being used for in this video.
