Sincere thanks to Mrs. Teresa Reeve for allowing us to see this. Kenshiro Abbe was one of the teachers to my original teacher, Mr. Reginald Bleakman. He talked of his time with Mr. Abbe with much humour and gratitude and painted wonderful pictures of his time with him. I can see so much of what he talked about in this wonderful film. Thankyou Teresa, rest assured, I have not copied or saved the video, but I have enjoyed it immensely.

Wonderful technique, particularly the counters. Does anybody know of which clubs/associations in UK Judo still focus on the entire Kodokan syllabus. Kani-Basami, Kate guruma etc? I practiced Judo briefly at University in 2006 and having come back to it many years later am disappointed to see how much has been removed or adjusted to suit the Olympic vision.

You are correct.The technique is Sasae Tsurikomi Ashi.You should be able to see the difference in Abbe Sensei's technique from the standard Kodokan one. G.Gyngell 3rd dan (pupil of Abbe Sensei)

wonderful footage. I especially enjoyed the Do Not Copy notice at the beginning. It is akin to placing a fresh kill in front of a pack of wild, starving coyote and telling them to not devour it . A note to any who don't want something copied... don't put it on the internet. Thanks for sharing this with us but I'm sure that it has been copied countless times. And at this point why would anyone care? It's on the internet for heavens sake. why would making a copy of it be disconcerting to anyone at this point?

Thanks for posting this, I heard so many stories about Abbe, it's so great to be able to see him forever immortalised on film. He did so much for Welsh Ju jitsu.
