I’ve been riding the El for 2 years from city hall to Fishtown. It is still not great. Maybe 20% better. Maybe. I won’t take it when the sun has set. Once in Fishtown it is fine.

My local Fidelity bank branch had a nice MAC machine. It later became CoreStates, First Union, Wachovia, and then Wells Fargo.

I’m so old I remember eating at the restaurant on the top floor of the GSB building on City Line ave and having a GSB little rubber squeeze change holder. The MAC machine was a revolution at the time. Before that u had to go in and fill out a withdraw for $10

Yep...its Lomax Jasper property has tenants included as an investment deal with 3 properties So the tenants there dont have to move out, its guaranteed income.

My dad's old house sold for $172,000 a year ago on Birch Street, it will be in a few years. The block on Stella Street between Emerald Street and Frankford Ave have 3 story houses on that block.

Lomax Rug the owner use to yell at my dad when he would park on Jasper Street next to the building. My dad lived on Birch Street before he moved to Port Richmond, very nice house, had to leave in 97 neighborhood went down, not safe. There was a big sweep clean up on G Street near Allegheny, the 24th District X Page had it. Septa Cops have been arresting and ticketing people left and right at Allegheny, Officer Petty aka Kojak is always on it down there.

I don't live in this area or even in this state (I live in neighboring NJ) but I know the longing to clean up the blight in an abandoned urban area. It's looks like progress, but where did the people who hung out there go and what will prevent their return without impeding their constitutional rights? Especially in this latent authoritarian era, do we really want a police state?

They went somewhere. Here in Chicago, there's been many campaigns to clean up the riff raff. They always go somewhere. West Side riff raff want to Oak Park, a once upscale and tony suburb. To this day they sling heroin on the streets. South Side Housing Authority riff raff went to Danville and Rockford, as well as into city neighborhoods. They just become someone else's problem.
