the reasonw hy ther is live 2 times in the titel is because the name of the show is vrienden van amstel live. the first live is to indicate that this was live if that makes sense

Glad you like this one so much! You really should listen to their song St Helena live😁 You can hear his amazing rockvoice in this one! Someone's mentioned the one from Pinkpop, or maybe the Ziggodome 2017 one on their own RU-vid channel. If you like to check out the live, front row vibe for yourself, just check out the Ziggodome 2019 vids on my RU-vid channel😃

It is a very emotional song, it is about a friend they lost. He was the brother of the guitarists (Casper). He didn’t come home after a party night, he was drowned😢. RIP.

Kensington is quite succesfully in The Netherlands. They are the first Dutch band to sell out the Johan Cruyff ArenA in Amsterdam with over 50.000 people. They also managed to sell out the Ziggo Dome (17.000 people) for 4 nights in a row. Fun fact, they are streaming an online concert tonight from the Scheepsvaart Museum where you can buy tickets for.

Hoorah another Kensington vid 🥰! Love this version, the original doesn't have the strings, but esp. in this magical live version it really adds a little something. Your comment on mainstream music and bands not being picked up my mass media is interesting.... Kensington is THE biggest band in the Netherlands, definitely very well represented in media, they score hit after hit after hit and sell out Holland's biggest venues within minutes. That makes them hated by quite a few people, for some reason bands or artists lose their appeal to some people once they become successful, I'll never understand it, but it seems to work that way, unfortunately💁‍♀️. Because you aren't aware of their success in the Netherlands, your reaction is very pure, and I love that, your opinion is based on what you hear, not on their status.... and for me, a Dutchie, that is so refreshing! Btw, I'm not in any way suggesting that you personally wouldn't listen to songs with an open mind😊. Because they are so successful (in Holland anyway), it's also safe to say they're very much loved by a lot of people. Beats me why they're basically not known anywhere else in the world, they're ambitious enough... it looks like they're trying to conquer the world step by step, like they did in the Netherlands once. They do European tours and play at festivals all over Europe. I love them, clearly, and I hope they will, some day, be known everywhere!

@Detrucci
@Detrucci 4 года назад
Yes, I understand the idea of bands losing appeal when they become successful. It happens all the time :) Some people prefer to love the underdog. Its just part of life, Everyone loves a good underdog story and so when a band passes that threshold then they are no longer in that catagory I geuss :) My lack of knowledge on european bands and especially popular music in general is maybe an advantage when it comes to these reactions. But thats what a reaction is right? To hear a band or song for the first time and to discover a new culture and talent. I think if they are able to be smart to use social media to their advantage and not against them then they will get very popular outside of Holland.
@ndekamper
@ndekamper 4 года назад
@@Detrucci I hear you, a good underdog story is always good. For me personally though, I either like a band, or a song or I don't... couldn't care less if it sells or not. And I just get slightly enjoyed if people bash my babies, just for the sake of bashing them🤣. So again, really appreciate your reaction😊! They don't have millions of people following them on social media, that's for sure.. I think, ideally, they want to reach people by letting people see them play, and not so much through social media... which is a choice they seem to have made quite consciously. They conquered Holland bit by bit, by playing A LOT. Before they became really big, they played at like 100 festivals in the summer alone. There are more people see them play live in one year than they have insta followers, which in think is pretty cool!

Kensington is about as mainstream a band you will find in the Netherlands but I guess coming from another part of the world you are looking at it through your perspective. If you really want to check out a band that is truly doing it for the art while still playing big shows for their fans then check out the British band Marillion and the videos they have posted online of their show at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Interesting fact: you might have heard about crowdfunding but guess what, it was Marillion who basically “invented” it within the music business when they asked their fans to buy an album upfront without having heard a note, to trust that the band would do their best and make an album free from t the constraints that record label put on them. And it worked and they have been able to do so ever since.
@Detrucci
@Detrucci 4 года назад
I have heard marillion a long long time ago actually, my uncle had one of their songs on a CD of his. But wow that is interesting. Good on them for doing that. I will need to check them out :) I have heard alot about them and actually quite a few people have mentioned them within my comments so far.
@ChrisEchoes
@ChrisEchoes 4 года назад
Detrucci Thanks for replying. Marillion is a band with a very interesting history but the one overriding theme is that they always respected their art, their music AND their fans. And that respect is reciprocated by them. I don’t automatically like everything they do and sometimes they deliver music that doesn’t do much for me but in most cases I end up getting something out of it anyway. A big part of the Marillion world these days are the big conventions they hold. The flagship one is here in the Netherlands where an entire holiday park is booked with fans coming from all over the globe spending a long weekend together. And together means that during the day you might bump into band members as well enjoying the stay with their families. And again, band and fans respect each other and fans don’t bother them too much. Over three nigths the band plays three totally different shows (no song is repeated in any set) usually including at least one complete album performed in its running order. Sometimes there is a shorter Saturday afternoon set as well called Swap The Band. Fans had the chance to audition for that and can take the place of one of the band members in a performance of a song. And in all cases they do a cracking job. There are plenty of songs on their own Marillion RU-vid channel and I suggest you look up the song Go live at Royal Albert Hall as it is an accessible song that has all the trademarks of a classic Marillion track (passionate vocals, interesting lyrics, great tune, stellar guitar solo) plus it has an awesome moment of audience interaction.

If you want something pure I suggest All in Vain from Di-Rect, De Duif Sessions is in my eyes the best one as it has an extended instrumental part that I like (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8JHGiwIn7i8.html). But yeah, we are blessed with some very talented musicians here in The Netherlands. Of course we got our over polished musicians, but a lot are just awesome on their own without all the polishing. Have you had a chance to see Danny Vera yet? Roller coaster is amazing, there are some live versions on RU-vid of him playing that song. Live @ Stenders Platenbonanza is used the most :) think you'll like it
