im just now moving here and learning all this has been interesting! Never been to a pay lake but i am glad im aware of the bad ones. there is not much being posted on these issues. Thank you for your service to the community, it is invaluable.
Fish and Wildlife needs to post wich pay Lakes that got busted if we get caught doing anything they post are name's in the newspaper so why are they any different
So first off… I’ve been fishing paylakes for a few years, have yet to catch one that was skinny, or sick, or even beat up at all. I’ve caught HUNDREDS of them and they look just the same as they do out of the river lol. So to guys hating on paylakes and paylakers alike. Kick rocks!!! The fish get plenty of food
There are a handful of lakes that get farmed raised fish and feed them, they are the few respectable owners. However, it's still like fishing in a bathtub. It's great for kids, disabled and the elderly.

Most paylakes in Kentucky are farm raised fish (channels cats) but there is river fish that do get stocked of both at certain places and most of the big fish come from out of state where they're considered a invasive species like maryland and other places out west
Most big fish are from the Ohio river here in Kentucky, and yes, these fish get taken to other states as well raping our river of quality fish. Also, farmed raised catfish cost more when stocking, however they do buy some from farms to have the paperwork to show law enforcement when needed. Most restaurants don't even buy farmed raised catfish in most cases because of the cost, they get them from the river.

Paylakes catch the fish, starve the fish, and do everything but put it on the hook for ya. Easiest way to catch a fish and no honor or respect given by real fishermen
