The 2023-2024 Kentucky Rabbit season started out really really slow and ended on a high. The winter was mild and bow hunters took advantage of it and were in stands on the weekends. Another area we hunt was overrun by locals and although we had permission it wasn’t worth the hassle dealing with them. In our search for more property to hunt we ended up with an old friend who joined us and things changed pretty quick. Now as far as the hounds they did awesome. We added two to the pack for seven dogs running at the end. Shooting on the other hand was horrific. In Will’s case he hunts with a 410 and he ran out of 3” shells early and the 2 ½ were just not doing it. I on the other hand blamed all my misses on rabbits being out of range. Well that may have been the case on the 2nd or 3rd shot but I should have connected on the first. I easily missed twice as many rabbits as I killed for the season.
Well, I was able to sort through over 200 video clips and put together some decent hound runs. If you like the sounds of beagles in chase you should enjoy this video. For Will and I it’s all about the chase and not the kill. We love to hear the hounds running.
