Kentucky District Judge Kevin Mullins, 54, was discovered dead Thursday with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Kentucky State Police.
Letcher County Sheriff Shawn M. “Mickey” Stines, 43, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the judge's death.

Our justice system is a joke. Everyone involved in this crime has/had too much power. Neither the sheriff nor the judge valued the justice system they both worked in. Sad.

Ky law states if you are over 10 years older than a person underage, Judge Mullins was 54 then the interaction is illegal and nonconsensual. Marriage is the only was the 10 year rule can be deferred but most likely a marriage licenses wouldn't be given anyway. So clearly a Judge who had been a lawyer his entire life would have known this. I know them both I went to high school with the Sheriff.

17 is a child..an adult taking advantage of a child is egregious.. period. Adults have the responsibility to not violate a position of trust or authority ie teacher/student, minister/congregant, employer/employee it against the law! Trying to say an adult male judge can violate a 17 and get away with and only be prosecuted if the victim is 16? Nope..still illegal and immoral.. don’t know the circumstances here..but an old man judge taking advantage of a 17 year old girl would trigger any dad.
