Thank you for the great help! Excellent useful video! Do you know by chance the parameters or marking/model of Hall sensor on the motor? Sensor is faulty but I can't find neither marking on it nor any description. It's too expensive to replace complete motor assembled because of faulty sensor.
I'm looking at buying a Kenwood cooking chef very cheap but it needs a new induction coil. is it worth risk? parts are £50 and I think I'll be able to do the repair. only issue is other problems cropping up. do you know if its a simple swap out?
Hi - I have an 8300s which has a tap light switch on the top and suddenly stopped to work. I think it is either the lamp around the mixer holder to be replaced or an internal fuse. Have you seen this before, please? Just asking before disassemble everything and the issue is triggered by another faulty item that I cannot handle. Thanks.
Thanks! This is a very helpful video to dissemble the Kenwood. I have a Kenwood Cooking Chef KM020 and need to change the small drive pulley. I cannot find any opening to release the tension pin. Does anyone know how to loosen the small drive pulley from the turning shaft?
Thank You for detailed and informative video! One question: when comparing COOKING CHEF XL (latest) and TITANIUM CHEF XL (1,700W, old model) - is the motor the same ? - is the planetar/reduction mechanical module the same ? Thank You a lot!
This is an excellent video. I disassembled a KM001 6 years ago, took some photos and still have associated screws in separate boxes, I ordered a new electric motor then and now my wife forced me to put this all together. Thanks to this video the task was possible. Thanks a lot you saved my world! ;.) Kind regards from Germany!
A fault that is not easy to find. If the machine does not run or has bad power then you have to change the blue capacitor. Designated on the circuit board as C1. During operation C1 loses its capacity. It must have the capacity 0.47µF.
Hi, Having problem with same mixer Titanium KM030 runs for exactly 7 seconds then cuts out have to turn power off at plug then try again runs for exactly 7 seconds ,have replaced Power PCB assembly ,Timer PCB, Speed control and new motor checked that all parts are connected correctly last chance for it next step is in the bin
Thank you for this excellent video. I used it as a guide to dis-assemble the top part of my Kenwood Chef Major Titanium KM020 to find out why oil/grease was leaking out of the gearbox. The cause was that the little (screwheaded) bolts + nuts that hold the 2 parts of the gearbox case together had become loose. After I cleaned all the leaked oil/grease away, the fix was to remove each bolt and its associated nut, clean the threads on the bolt + nut, put Locktite on the nut threads, then put the bolt + nut back into the gearbox case and screw it tight. The Locktite will stop the bolt + nut from vibrating loose again. NB: final tightening of all the bolts must be done evenly in small turn increments in a cross-hatch pattern to prevent distortion of the gearbox case, and more leaking of the oil/grease
@@kipperbassbox I am in New Zealand and bought the grease from a local internet appliance store. I found my local store by doing a internet search using the words: kenwood chef food safe grease
In my km040 if I press the "start" button it turns on, but if I press it again it DOES NOT turn off. I also had this problem in the past and after a couple of weeks it disappeared. today, after a couple of years, he has returned. I have a similar problem: if I press the "start" button it turns on, but if I press it again it DOES NOT turn off. I also had this problem in the past and after a couple of weeks it disappeared. today, after a couple of years, he has returned?
It's not clear how to unmount the fan (11:50). I figured out its good to have something long and thin to use it as a lever close to the axis. I was not able to do it by hand.
Also ein Dankeschön.
@@irinadobrotvorskaya6867 Hi, is the "white plastic part" on the high speed outlet of the motor just plugged on or do you have to loosen a screw somewhere? Thank you!
Hi the speed Bouton dropped. Off when I stop my mixer! Is the speed button attached by a little metal line? Because if so this has gone inside the machine!! How do I get to the speed control without undoing all the appliance, Thanks a lot!
Hello, my problem is in the front planetary sealed assembly. I cannot get it open without removing the large white plastic gear on top, and I have no idea how to get that off to reach the last screw underneath it. It is the one thing you don't seem to disassemble in the video. Can you tell me how to do this?? Thanks, you're my last hope before I buy a new one but this is such an excellent mixer.
I have a Kenwood Chef KM001 of which the gearbox looks exactly the same as visible in this video and sadly I'm also stuck with the same wheel which lead to a search which lead me to this video ... I tried to pull it off, no success. There are access holes from the oppsite side so I'm wondering if Kenwood was using special tool to access that screw from the opposite side - but that would appear mad unless the goal was to make that thing unrepairable - and there are easier methods, say welding :) It seems a gearbox for the KM030 including shipping will set you back around 95€, my KM001 gearbox would be more like 55€ but I still haven't given up on disassembling it :-) Any progress on your side?
It is possible to remove the large white plastic gear on top. First remove the belt from the gear. Next insert a strong metal screwdriver (or similar tool) into the front slow speed power outlet (this is the one used for mincers, grain mills, etc) so the slotted metal shaft in this outlet cannot turn. Then try to turn the large white plastic gear anticlockwise by hand - after some resistance it will unloosen and can then be unscrewed off its shaft by hand. This gives you access to the screw holding one end of the gearbox case together so you can tighten it up. The large white plastic gear is re-attached tightly by reversing the above process.
MfG Wilhelm
Hi, may I ask how long you've had this mixer? I was thinking of getting one, but I saw another comment elsewhere with a similar problem. For the price they charge, I hope they would be durable. Thanks.
hello Crossfader X- my Kenwood works perfectly BUT was missing some parts for the lever assembly. I see in your video @ 5:42, this peice is missing. I just bought all of the lever assembly parts from a Delonghi servicer in the US but didn't include this part. The issue with the mixer is that it does not lock down into place. I think this part keeps the mixer into lock position so that I can use it. Right now it just bounces open. I sent your video to the servicer but they are not responsive to my requests. Would you have that spare part available or any advise as to what mechanism locks the mixer?
@@CrossfaderXT Hello I didn't see your response until now. It actually runs on all settings but doesn't stay in the locked position. I may have assembled the spring incorrectly. It works while holding it down. I did take a video of it but may have erased it.
My Kenwood KVL60 (Chef XL Sense) also stops after a few seconds turning. I can turn it on again, but stops again and so on.... Sometimes it still works longer, I found that when leaving the powercord connected to the wall, the problem is worse. I'm guessing maybe a bad capacitor on the Power PCB? It is using this PCB www.4kenwood.co.uk/chef-range/kvl6000t/power-pcb-assembly/product.pl?pid=4746140&path=590704,71679&model_ref=11531684 Or maybe something is wrong with the 'Sense', that it measures to much load somehow and stops the engine? It even shuts off when free running.
Hello, thanks for your tuto. I would like to test the motor without disassemby. Which are the black cables on the white connector to put on 220v? Thank you Maxime from Corsica Island
Hi, would this disassembly be the same for my Kenwood KVL60 (Chef XL Sense) and is the full disassembly needed to replace the motor? The Mixer keeps cutting out and smelling which i'm guessing is the motor going.
Hi, Great video. I have problem with the same kmc 030.What was the problem you had with the mixer? My mixer just cuts out when speed controll is over position 4. When it is turned to position P runs for 2sec and cust out. I have noticed that when motor is turning the lcd timer gets dark. What I shouls replace. Motor tested by direct connection to the power - works ok.

Thank you very much for sharing the procedure; it's a lot of work and expensive tools. If the cause was the dust on the board, why did you need to go to the transformer?
Danke Dir
I have the Kenwood Cooking Chef KM080 and the motor began to behave erratically yesterday while it was kneading dough for a pie. It also became hot, there was some smoke, the dough began to cook, and then it would no longer work at high speed for other things. There was also a burnt smell once I stopped it. I suspect the motor is kaput and needs changing. Thanks for the video. The problem is I live in the US, and, while Kenwood makes great products, it also has the lousiest marketing strategy I have ever encountered in a major company. For this reason, they left the US. Again. So I am stuck with a product that would normally be under warranty, only there is nobody to service it. I am livid, will be complaining to the appropriate US authorities, but in the meantime, this needs fixing. I hope I can get the part from Canada, but I am not very hopeful they ship to the US.
@@CrossfaderXT Thanks for your reply. No, I am not planning to buy a used motor. However, it is impossible in the US to order the part, I tried Canada. Unfortunately, Kenwood failed (again!) to capture the American market, so it is only possible to get support in the most unorthodox ways. Right now, it works again, but I think it won’t last long.
Hi ... I live in Canada. Until about 5 years ago, we saw the Kenwood mixers in the stores here. Now we see none of them. Only Costco.ca seems to have a Kenwood mixer, and the Kenwood Canada page has very little of anything. May I ask how long you've had your Cooking Chef? For the price they charge for these machines, they should last longer, but I've seen a few complaints. I've also read that the service with De'Longhi is horrible.
hi my titanium chef stopped working all of a sudden one year after its warranty ran out. showed it to a guy who apparently deals with kenwood appliances here in the city i live in. and came back to me with a whole spiel about how the part it needs is no longer being manufactured....i am just wondering should i give up on the machine, it is such a waste tbh i am really in a huff i bought the thing with the understanding they are for life and that usually means nothing goes wrong with them and if it does its fixable. Any how i wanted to confirm if that's the case or should i seek out some other repair person as well....thank you
I was thinking of getting a Kenwood Titanium mixer, considering the bad reviews I've been reading for KitchenAid mixers. But now I wonder if Kenwood is really any better. Is your mixer repaired and is it reliable now?
@@sashineb.2114 I'm in the same boat, apparently KitchenAid went down hill in the last few years and even though they have metal gears they are not very good ones and teeth break off and also issues with leaking things into the bowl, then I watch the disassembly of this one and see it is chocked full of plastic gears too. Apparently you just can't have nice things these days.
@@sashineb.2114 In the case of KitchenAid it at least seems like the easiest to fix, with the ability to buy parts with no issue. All someone would need to do is make a good set of hardened gears to put in the KitchenAid Pro Line's or commercial and it would probably be a good really good mixer.
@@legallyfree2955 Yes, that's true. With Kenwood not being available much (if at all) in North America , how would one get replacement parts? My KitchenAid was made with the Hobart specs, and they are very solid machines. But if a gear finally wears out, or if it needs a new motor, I don't think I would bother getting a current replacement part. I have a suspicion the parts they use today are not as good as the older ones.
Great video! After i plugged all the electronic components back together, the lcd lights up around the edges but doesn't display any digits and wont respond to any of the buttons. Could the timer assembly need replacing? Thanks
Same issue here, but this directly happened, after the overload protection was activated. I plugged the machine off, waited for a few minutes. After I plugged it in again, the lcd lights up, but no digits show up, exactly as you wrote. Also waiting for hours didn't change anything, so I disassembled the whole thing today (this video was very helpful by the way!). Now I tested several things: - The engine works, if directly connected to power. - The Thermo resistor in the motor housing seems to be also OK (do not know what the correct values shall be but the electrical resistance decreases about 50% if warming it up with a hair dryer) - The magnetic switch, which detects if the machine was flipped up is also doing it's job correctly. - The speed sensor seems to be OK as well (although not sure how to measure this correctly, but upon rotation a current is measurable) So something's still preventing the machine from working :-/ Did you get your Kenwood working again and if yes, what did you do to solve this? Thanks
@MikeLin4th : Got it! You need to replace the main Power PCB as well as the Timer-PCB. (Sparepart Numbers KW715253 & KW714103) It looks like the IC on both Modules got somehow damaged (or accidentally flashed? Who knows...) About 70€ material costs with shipping (to Germany). So in my eyes woth it. But I'm worried how this could happen as a side effect from the overload protection (if so). The Machine was only about 6 years old! And for my buying decision, it was the electronic overload protection from the Kenwood to not buy the Kitchen Aid instead! Now I'll be more carful in the future and better avoid any overload...

Thanks for this video. Really helpful. One question though. The motor you take out at the end, there is an eggshell white cog on the top. Can this piece be removed/replaced?
I have the same problem removing the belt pulley ( where the blender fits) from the driveshaft. Is it glued on, and need heating like you did in the other end? Is it possible to change it without removing the entire engine?
