Correct .... great way of testing it... at Kenwood Service Center in Cerritos back in 2002 we've tested many of those. Best to get the service manual. Sorry would give you a copy but I'm on a long vacation in Asia. 😊😊😊 impressed how you got it working... we do have those parts available.
Hmmm have a similar fault, radio works fine for a while then only on 2 metres it fails. No power out, small increase in total current with key down and I suspect receive is poor with fault. Any brilliant suggestions ?
Did you ever solve this? I have a TM-742 sitting in my closet that has 2/70cm/6meter decks in it and it makes no RF on the 2/70cm decks. I've not tried the 6meter. I keep it around hoping to one day figure it out since there is nowhere to send it out to.
Yes... My issues was with switching between receive and transmit. Basically the radio was locked in a receive state and not switching to transmit properly. This was isolated to just the 2 meter module. In your situation, I would guess the issue is in the common control portion of the radio. Possibly one of the functions coming from the main IC chip that puts the radio into transmit. There is a very good video on troubleshooting this same issue on RU-vid.
