Listening on a Sunday morning on my TS 870 (built in the end of 2003), using an End Fed wire antenna, installed horizontally 7,5 meters high, in the East Midlands area of UK.
Nice radio for cw, great built in keyer and the variable bandwidth is especially good, not so much the DSP it's a bit useless..if you can find a well looked after example second hand at a good price, well worth it!
Hello. The Noise Blanker works very well compared to other transceivers, the Noise Reduction not so much, distortions a little on the audio, but we have to notice this was the first transceiver in the market with DSP on IF, so we can`t ask for much... you can activate Noise Reduction/ Beat Cancel/ Auto Notch only one at once, not several at same time, even an TS 590 does much better of course... but still it`s a great radio to enjoy a lot! @@m0kyw115 i have TS950SDX and TS870,both are good radios, 950 have dsp also,but 870 more advanced one ,but 950 is hybrid using bunch of filters ,on 8.83mhz and on 455khz if ,then there is also dsp,so you can achieve good selectivity,for last line of defense there is if shift.
