Restoration continues in this episode as we use the spitwater hot water pressure washer to wash the Kenworth truck and the tray or flatbed we are fitting to it. We then use the tractor crane and forklift to remove the tray from the International Transtar and sit it on the Kenworth truck.

Hey Steve i remember back in the 70,s twin steer trucks were big here in Adelaide a lot of Atkinsons,Fodens,Volvo G88 89s,i remember their big draw back was the 40 acre paddock you needed to turn them around ,but still they were great ,i remember the early Road Trains were twin steer with dollies and trailers behind a big Rigid,.Clark shoes had a factory on Richmond road here in Adelaide and ipec had twin steers picking up and running to melbourne all 2 stroke GM,s ,they also had twin steer single rear MAN,s and 1418 Benzes,this was in the late 60,s early 70,s best of times i recon and your keeping it alive Thank you Kym Adelaide

Steve, awesome pressure washer. Is that a steam washer? Ever since I saw your twin steer I always watch our highways and never saw one in Connecticut. I honestly don't know much about them but I'm guessing that twin steer can take more weight than a single steer axle. Glad to see you are making good use of the zetor and tilt trailer. I love seeing the old tractors being used. If I were the old tractor I would want to be put to work. I bet if you looked at the front of it carefully you would see a smile on that grill in fact yea mate I saw the smile when you drove off with it. I see that smile on all your trucks and tractors. Be good. Your friend from Connecticut. Jim
@stevesplacedownunder
@stevesplacedownunder Месяц назад
Hi Jim. Yes mate it is a steam washer. Works great. I’ve heard there aren’t many twin steers over there, apart from crane carrier trucks. Yes that’s right, they can take more weight. Very common here, they are even putting another lazy axle now with the two drive axles, 5 axles in total, to get even more payload. Yes the old tractor has come to the right place mate indeed. All the best Jim and check your emails. I sent all my details again

@alandawson2813 Месяц назад
Could turn her into a 10 wheeler😀😀😀 put a third axle in the back end. Seems to be getting popular over here so it ups the pay load. Most 8 wheelers over here are max 15 ton, the foden was 14.5 ton, Think with 10 wheeler now they can get up to 16 maybe 18 ton max payload, Saw a photo of a 22ton excavator on a 10 wheeler the other day, looked like it was a tight site to get into and it was there only choice. If they got caught on the road the company would have been in a heap of trouble. Keep up the great work.

Was the tray bed (Flat bed body to us in the UK) that was originally fitted in the first video, not suitable for what you needed Steve, and why ? Eight 'leggers' with flat beds were extremely common to British Road Haulage from the 1930's right through to the late 1960's. The configuration is still in use on Bulk tippers and Cement mixers today.

I was slashing in one of my paddocks here Steve and I got stuck between two trees. I selected low range and tried to push the tree out in front of me. In low range those Zetors have that much power that you can shred tyres. Anyway the arse of the old girl sat down then Booossshh and all this water came out from under the tractor. I thought "There are no water pipes in this area that I can damage. As the arse end sat down I realised that I had busted the tyre open and all the water was pouring out of the tyre. I took the tyre into town to the tyre shop and was asking about the best brands. I told the guy that I didn't think much of Barum tyres as the back tyres had only lasted 40 years. He gave me a nasty look. I cracked up. I bought my Zetor originally as I have had a BRNO rifle which are made in Czechoslovakia for 50 years and it is as good today as it was new. I reasoned that if they made their tractors like they made the BRNO it would be plenty good enough for me. It has never let me down.
