Kenworth W990 

My boss surprised me with a W990 2 weeks ago and I've received so many compliments from all types of people and other drivers. Heck, I even had driver in W900's checking out the truck and even giving my thumbs up. Goes to show that non bias people and opinions think totally differently about the W990. When Kenworth said it's Bold, they were right. The truck has this awesome look to it even though it shares the same cab as a T680 and T880. Say what you want about the truck, but from my experience in driving it down the road and the compliments and looks I've been getting says other wise. It's definitely rides better than the T880 that I just got out of and the 2 trucks are similarly spec'd. Kenworth you get 2 👍👍 on this truck!!

I'm sorry but this will never replace the w900. It looks a lot like the Freightliner Coronado. I can't believe kenworth wants to replace a legend with this.

i have never had the opportunity to drive a W900, my assigned truck is a 2017 T880 day cab (i drive milk truck, home daily) . i will say i feel the some things should never change. the W900 is one of these things. iconic American styling.

The filming is great. It shows the quality of the product without saying anything.

What a disaster it will only make the older W900 379 389 more desirable . Owned a 1994 w900 and then 2002 w900 and they were great trucks , would have bought another Kenworth but went with Peterbilt 379 . Sorry Kenworth but l would choose a 680 over the 990 or just stick with Peterbilt been o/o for 25 years and only owned w900 and 379 just love the long hood classic look .

For those that like the look, that's fine. Personally, I would prefer the W900. Decades ago my company had W900's, They were a great truck. Back then they had a N14 Cummins with a 13 speed, they had a great ride. Then they switched to T800 with a bit smaller wheelbase for maneuverability. Now the company is starting to buy freightliners. They gave me a new Cascadia, it's got polished everything. But, that does not make a truck. It is such a dog. No power. They didn't spec. it out properly. I still think back at those W900's, now those are real trucks.

this truck looks better than all the other modern trucks on the road cause it has all the classic things like vertical Stacks, Drop Visor and much of chrome . But it can't beat the W900.

I mean it's not a bad looking truck but it sure as hell won't replace the w900

Kenworth power ,durability and quality was already tested in ice road truckers,i think that Kenworth is one great truck,such a shame that there is no such truck here in Europe.

Looks like every other truck on the road now. All W900's are bold, powerful, have huge air breather's, massive square hood, ride tall, laugh at miles per gallon, have respect, and mean you made it in the trucking industry. Sorry Kenworth you missed every point mentioned and just drove up the prices of all used W900's made before 2018 because that is all people will buy. Sure, trucking fleets might buy these like TMC, MTL, etc... but not owner operators.

I drive a w900,this one ,no way ,looks like a international with a touch of coronado.When you drive a w900 you look for that classic look,theres not a classic touch on this one!

I like the styling on the T880, but I'm not sure about this. That front end is a little funky looking, the headlights especially. And they're still halogen reflectors, I'm sure people would appreciate a more modern LED projector option on a truck like this. I do like the factory under-cab lights though, and the interior is incredible with all that contrast stitching.

I'm not even a trucker nor from the States, but isn't this just a T680 with less aerodynamic body ? The whole front console and interior screaming T680. It's like you just strip a T680 of its aerodynamic body and put some square-ish body on it, there, we've got it. This is just an insult on your own W900.

So many negative comments. About the only difference between the W900 and W990 is the headlights. Don't you know the square headlights are nearly obsolete and already getting hard to find? I don't have a problem with it's appearance. But the only reason it's not selling well is because there isn't much of a market for "large cars" anymore. And just because the W900 has been a tremendous success, doesn't mean KW needs to keep building the same model til the end of time. Times change, get over it.

We all knew this day was coming.. The W900's been around since 1968 or 1969 and the last redesign on the hood took place is 1991.

I agree. I see a lot of Coronado and 9900 influences in the design. I’m sorry you can’t beat the w900L. But I still would drive this truck though

For those thinking this is replacing the W900, it's not. That would be suicide to sales numbers. It's just another option

Ohhh and for those who say it looks like those other trucks. Well, let's just say I pulled beside those trucks and I ask a coworker of mine if they looked alike and they were like " no way!"

I feel they should just make the w900 more up to date, like why not a standard 90" sleeper? More space in the driver, passenger area other than that if it ain't broke don't fix it

Was looking to order one when they started taking orders but found out you can't get the studio cab. Why would you put out a replacement product for the W900 and not include the best cab that is available for the truck? You can get Cummins engines in all the brands of trucks so the cabs are the selling point and you leave off the best cab. You should have something that competes well with the Volvo cab, it's great. That's Peterbilt's issue, great truck on the outside, dash is very refined but the cab stinks compared to others if your looking for a single bunk truck with good cabinets.

Quick question I have a 2010 kenworth truck my question is when I’m sitting at an idle at I want to bring the Rpms up through the cruise control it automatically goes to 1500 rpms. Should I leave it at 1500? The only thing I could think is it goes to 1500 automatically because of the regen system
