I first visited Kep Beach ⛱️ 2018. I'd planned my retirement there. I arrived 11 days ago, devastated at the FILTHY changes, but worse are the locals attitudes here at Kep... tourism has created a Satan spawn attitude, cheats, liars, scamming evil Landlords have festered. Decided to return to Siem Reap, genuine friendly, trustworthy people I know there.
Interesting, I have only visited Siem Reap once and that was when I was a tourist back in 2000 - 2002 ? It was pretty low key them days. Especially walking around Angkor Wat etc. There were no barriers or laid out walkways back then. As for the town.....seeing on many videos and the introduction of Pub Street these days. I think I'd hardly know the place and looks...mmmm different to say the least.
Hey just wanna say I new to your contents about Cambodia and I love it. Please keep making more and I will sure keep supporting your contents. Thank you buddy 🙂
Oh wow! I was at the Kep crab market in 2017. It looks like a different place now! I am planning on going back in February next year with my wife and 2 year old son. I hope the beach is still there! Great videos man. keep it up.
I see my post is not up from when I posted on the day. My internet was up and down. I obviously don't know the changes of Kampot or Kep like yourselves but I enjoyed it for 22 days from Phnom Penh.(expat) As for the crab market and what I saw of the development of the beach road from PP and the expansion of the beach by the crab market on the way was in development and was pretty impressed. Slowly but getting there. The new pavements being laid in Kep promenade was impressive and the palm trees were just being uncovered as the construction of the walkways was being completed. That looks like it will be a major destination and beautiful place by the sea. I was only in Kep for that one day. Some great statues and monuments with a nice beach. (Last month.)
Yep, big improvements happening. Especially in infra side. In 2-3 years will be great once most of the stuff is completed and plants / grass grown a bit back.
I was there feb2022 I stayed just at the other end of the restaurants and I loved kep and Cambodia except for the rubbish just left . I’ll be back again soon
Do you have any more information as to what they're building there? I was there in 2018, but if that was done at the end of 2022 that is scary fast that they've filled that part and sad. I'm sure there's a whole lot of building going on at a relatively fast pace over there since I've been. It's taken almost a decade and a half to build an above ground train line where I live in Canada, but that's due to regulations, communicating with municipalities , and working with the public on limiting how much construction is done so it wouldn't effect peoples everyday life. I plan on returning to Cambodia to chill with some relatives and I hope the many changes are beneficial to the folks over there. On a side note : You're videos are assisting me in brushing up on my Khmer. ahhaahah thank you for this channel!
This guy speaks and I reckon can read khmer too and he has no idea what is happening there? lol Anyways the works has been going on there since 2021. Most of the area was just bushy seafront. They are building new public beach and public park. It's done with private money mostly. The landowners are paying it. They get 50 meters new waterfront land and city gets new beach road, 100 meters of park land + beach. The area around Crab market is just re-doing the old crowded crab market basically. And also brining infra (sewage etc) to 2020 which has been big problem there so far.
@@pp-bf2ec.... Kep Beach is dead, it's finished, it is ruined forever, they should not have touched it. Locals might think it is great, but foreign tourists will not go near, Cambodia has just lost Million$ in tourism, I was there last week, I see the plans and construction, it's a huge joke, I'm an engineer, the tidal damage they will be caused in near future will not be repairable, not one person in charge has used a brain to research the the physics of tidal shift. The whole thing is embarrassing, I still can't figure the sheer STUPIDITY in the design, anyway, the range of damage to come will keep tourists away like a plague. How could any engineer on this project be so low in IQ
...and very saddening for me, I had lovely memories of the 2018 Kep Beach ⛱️, now it's just a FILTHY disgusting place, it definately would be unhealthy to swim there, I only walked to knees and immediately washed off the filthy sea water, it stinks 😩
There used to be an American family that lived in Kampot for many years. Before the tourist hordes arrived. In 2004 everyone said their family was in the witness protection program. The other story was that the father was involved with the mafia and fled the U.S to Kampot to hideout because there was a hit out on him. Have you heard that story?
@John Taliburton we were the first "white" family to move to Kampot around that time. Then another missionary family moved in 98. The Coggins I mention because they moved to Kampot around 2004
Hey Patrick Just saw you get out of a tuk tuk near the Russian market area. Apologies for calling out your name but we were excited to see you drive past. We were on our way to a yummy Khmer buffet dinner. Enjoy your night Patrick
I used hang out with Khmer Krom people in Vietnam and have lots of Cambodian friends here in America. After years of learning and understand Cambodian culture, you'll have the idea of why Khmer empire collapsed, and why Polpot committed genocide of 1/4 population with the help from China. Khmer people don't look into the future, live for the future, but they live for the past of the old imaginary Khmer empire. They hold the grudge against neighboring countries for what happened in their failure. 1000 years of being Chinese slaves, 100 years of being French slaves, 10 years of brutal war between Vietnam and America, but Vietnam already moved forward and don't hold grudge against anyone. Cambodian people need to learn from the Vietnamese how to forgive but not forget for a brighter future. Not to mention that the Japanese committed a genocide of 2 million people in Vietnam back in 1945 but not a single Vietnamese person despise Japanese nowadays. Past is past. One more thing I like to add that the Cambodian people are very easily being manipulated. The only thing that the Cambodian have forgotten was how China helped Polpot that caused the death of 1/4 of their population, but now they are voluntarily allowing China to colonize them. Not very smart!!!! China soon will turn the entire country to look like Sihanoukville soon. Just wait.
and Vietnam is not a muppet of China? or Thailand or Laos... I don´t think they have a choice down there. better China than USA. at least the new gov made a decision on not letting them built Casinos in Kep/Kampot. so there is hope they will not sell it all...
@@mezzanine3362 You need to read more history of your own and Vietnamese history. NO country on this planet could ever win a war in Vietnam and Vietnam has never submitted to any country. Vietnam defeated China countless of time, latest was in 1979. Khmer empire invaded DaiViet a few time during their prime time but got defeated and then backfired that led to the diminish of the empire. Polpot was even dumb enough like the rest by invaded Vietnam and took over Phu Quoc and Ha Tien for a short time but then paid for a price. Even the unbeatable Mongolian empire tried 3x to invade Vietnam but all fail. Vietnam is too strong, too smart, and too arrogant to be a muppet of anyone. China is a pure evil country.
