I hadnt seen his interstellar playthru until a few months ago. I watched just about all of it. It's amazing that this game was able to be modded that much that long ago. Pretty sure it was a 32 bit game which only used around 4GB of RAM at the time. It'll be awesome once modders get a hold of the new game and get to work on new content for us

highly doubt as a video series and doubt in KSP2 with rapid changes and rapid mod breaking (if there are any). Also he made it clear that his audience changed and ksp videos bring very few views for very much work. MAybe as streams.

Docking turned out to be my largest hurdle in KSP one. Took a while to get it. This time around, I'm not expecting to come across any huge hurdles until I attempt Jool. I got KSP2 on day 1. I am running a i5-10400f, 16gb DDR4 ram, RTX2060 6gb and installed it on a 4TB HDD. Game runs ok at 23PFS on high settings. While flying a basic rocket with 2/3 stages. I had to turn the settings down a little for more complex rockets. But keeping around 30fps. But the 2060 runs at 98% and 72 C while I play. CPU is not an issue at 70% and around 47C My Rooms ambient is around 20C. But a fully modded KSP 1 with Mech JEb, KER, galactic scale etc. Runs at a solid 60 fps with no hiccups on the same machine. I hope this info helps people. My suggestion for anyone wanting to play KSP... Get the original and learn. KSP 2 is very demanding and not feature complete yet. Hardcore KSP players will probably enjoy KSP2. KSP 2 is a long way from "ready" But it is still great to play it for me. I love KSP.

The week after I return to work, my project team will be hosting a large group of NASA folks as we try to refine the techniques needed to built the heatshield for the Earth Entry System of the Mars Sample Return mission that will be playing out over the next decade. It's the coolest thing I have ever had the pleasure to do professionally... by far. First of all, they built the entire game from scratch to a higher standard. The game as it is now has much more than the original had when it came to early access. And what you see here isn't all they've been doing. They've already been working on all the new features. They already have other star systems and interstellar/colony parts. They just haven't polished it all enough for release.

I'm sure changing game engines and remaking all the assets was complicated, but the gameplay shows the same parts and planets I've been flying around with for over a decade. Outside of a brilliant graphical upgrade thanks to a game engine change, it is less than the game I bought for 1/4 the price in primary school.

In software, the first 90% of the work gets 10% of the result, but once you have the infrastructure, you can build the rest up. (Unless you're doing slapdash demo work, where you spend 10% of the work to get 50% of the functionality and then hit a wall where it can't get any better.) Best to wait to see how it all fleshes out and whether it is worth it to you then. Early access is too early. On the other hand, as a new player, much of my initial experience will be learning and messing around with the basics, and the current features are likely adequate for this purpose. See, I've always figured that something like Mechjeb was more realistic than some of the non-automated methods of maneuvering. Autopilot landing etc... I used mechjeb to land on some of the more difficult planets back in the day, before learning how to do it on my own. A helpful little add-on mod... which i wont have access to for quite a while in KSP 2😂 The tutorials look highly detailed compared to the original. I imagine that if your kerbal should suffer a heart attack, the tutorial could bring you down safely with all souls accounted for. I'm hoping that the game launches with the satellite relay parts at the very least, but i may have to adjust my plans. Unsure.
