She needed a retrograde burn after munar exit to align with a low kerbal orbit? Fucking amateur, you can do that aim on the exit burn if your escape angle is right.

1:23 Actually for a more efficient flight plan, You can combine both steps into one maneuver in low lunar orbit, such that when you leave the mun's SOI your lunar escape obit parallels the mun's own retrograde vector and has enough relative velocity to enter straight into an eccentric kerbin orbit with a periapsis at the target altitude. Burning on your apoapsis and periapsis exclusively can simplify the calculations, but it'll only save you delta V in a few circumstances.

I am somewhere between val's experience and the space center director's experience. By train of thought getting off the moon is: Burn away until you are no longer close to the moon, then burn to get rid of your momentum.

OK. You guys seriously should try out the same thing with Dwarf Fortress. Basically the same jokes, but with dwarves, mining "incidents", booze and murderous fauna.

Yes, this is literally how I feel. I'm still too dumb for this game....

I'm not surprised that Val actually did the job without being told, since she's the most sensible of the four. What I am surprised is that Val didn't know how to land a four-man capsule on Kerbin. I actually expected Jeb to try and hog the spotlight and ruin everything (again). Sadly, Val was killed in a Mk. 2 plane crash. As soon as Jeb and Val were done surveying Kerbin for a contract, the jet ran out of fuel over the ocean. Fortunately, the cockpit had an ejector mechanism for situations where landing was impossible; you activate the decoupler and then several radially-mounted parachutes deploy, slowing down the cabin to a safe velocity. Since that method saved its occupants many times, Jeb decided to exit the cabin and do some skydiving with his EVA chute. He assumed that Val would be fine since there were no previous deaths attributed to the ejecting cabin. After the recovery force picked up Jeb, they proceeded to get Val out of the capsule. However, to everyone's surprise, she was dead. Bill wept for days; not only was he going out with Val at the time (she had recently broken up with Jeb), he was saddened that his ejector cabin failed to save her life. Bob blamed Jeb for Val's death since, statistically speaking, over 80 percent of the program's accidents were caused by Jeb's shenanigans.

Understanding 1:30 actually feels nice

1:35 Well, you can't just burn until two orbits intersect and hope that you'll be anywhere near your target unless the insanely overcomplicated amount of pre-planning was involved... Normally what you want to do is burn normal or antinormal at the next ascending or descending node to remove the difference in inclination, then get into an orbit which is "more or less" similar (same eccentricity, Apoapsis and periapsis +/- 5-10%) to the target's orbit and then plan the burn to get an actual rendezvous within a few kilometres.

That is a 1 person capsule that all 3 of them are stored in

Val's rendezvous checklist: 1) Burn prograde at munar periapsis until the apoapsis was out of the Mun's sphere of influence - CHECK 2) Wait until getting into HKO (high Kerbin orbit), then burn retrograde at apoapsis until her periapsis intersected her target's trajectory. She forgot to mention a few things, like: * waiting until the ascending (or descending, depending on the case) node to match her inclination with the target's. * burn prograde at your periapsis or apoapsis until your eccentricity is zero to form a circular phasing orbit. * wait until the right moment in her phasing orbit to burn retrograde (and/or radial or anti-radial) and do her Hohmann Transfer at the time when she will be expected to get within less than 250 meters from her target. * match her orbital velocity with that of her target's (speed relative to the target should be zero when done) at the closest approach * slowly approach target - DO NOT HIT IT.

Ahhh .. nothing more entertaining that strapping a set of boosters to something with wings taking off and watching the wings rip off the craft as G forces climb ending with the Kerbel crashing into a mountain. Though strangely enough I've found if they open the hatch, exit and jump quite often they survive the plunge … lol .. I guess physics do not apply to kerbels themselves?
