I have come to find out that diesel fuel has different blends depending on what part of the world you are in. I have had limited success in this whole process. Figuring out what blends are out there is not easy to understand and how it effects the burn blend amounts. I am happy that the video was helpful to you. Based on my limited understanding of this process, I cannot be of any more assistance other than expressing my finding and my results. It appears other people have varying results and so there must be other variables that are not being considered here.

Thanks for the comment Chris. Diesel works well in these stoves. I know of several people using them but they burn kerosene.

@@Tobinindustrial I’m sure it works the only difference is the oil content. Pure kerosene doesn’t contain the oil and will burn cleaner.

Thanks Kurt. Do you use kerosene heaters by the way? I use diesel in my oil lamps. The diesel lasts a very long time in an old oil lamp.

@@Tobinindustrial Yes, Andy, we use kerosene heaters, I have an appreciation for the warm, silent heat, and love the soft, radiant glow the heaters provide. I grew up with kero heaters. I even have a few Aladdin kerosene heaters ( from the 20's I think ) pasted down from my grandmother. Our home is in the Blueridge Mountains at about 2500 feet, winters are long and cold, and the house's primary heat is propane, very, very expensive. We would only use propane in an extreme emergency. However, the kero heaters make home life very comfortable at a much, much lower operating cost than propane gas.

This unit should keep an insulated 300 sq ft area nice and warm. I am so sorry to here about your heating woes. The woodstove is the way to go for reliable heat. If you can manage to get some firewood by yourself or get some cheap, you will be toasty warm all winter. An american gallon here at Canadian Tire is $33.00 and tax. I'd love to find 5 gallons for $60.00. My main source of heat in my home is wood heat. I did a few videos on my Drolet HT3000. I just had a heat pump installed and it is working well. I am told it won't drive up the power bill much. We will se how it goes this winter. It also cools in summer so that is a bonus.

Did you flush out the old kerosene and put in fresh?

@@sailawaybob Yes, I think your wick is fine. Get rid of the stale kerosene and make sure the new wick is saturated with new fuel. Fill the tank once drained and cland and let the wick soak up th fuel for about 30 minutes. It may take a bit for the old kerosene and water to dissipate and it should clear up. Bring the nit outside. the only other option is to remove the old wick and clean it and let dry. I think option one is the way to go.

I use the same amount whether I use alcohol or conditioner. I do think the alcohol is much better as it is very cheap to buy.

@@johnmisrahi9922 Yes, I did use both at one time. I ran some tests and determined that you can wean the additives down to about 2 tablespoons per 10 liters. That being said, I am pretty sure if you double that amount, you will see a slight increase in performance. I have seen where some folks are adding much more than I am but I am trying to be a economic as I can about it. In fact, I have found a cheap source of 99% isopropyl alcohol that I could use a 1/2 of a bottle per 10 liters while still having a big cost saving. I have not tried it but I am told that the stove will perform even better. I don't want to muddy up the quasi science of it all but I may try it one day by adding half a bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol and see what happens. Keep me posted on your findings if you don't mind.

@@johnmisrahi9922 Agreed. Kerosene is way overpriced.

The particles typically flick out of th chamber. The wick makes a prettyntight seal in the chamber. If you remove the wick, you can do a better job by gently beating the wick to free up the material and allow for better fuelk wicking. This procedure I did was just for light cleaning. If your wick is getting bad it needs to be beat at edge to ge back better capillery action, trimmed and adjusted a biut higher (unpinned) or replaced.

Yes, indeed. the carbon buildup prevents the natural wicking of the fuel. Removing the wick and soaking it in isopropyl alcohol and then letting it air dry will help too. removing any water from the wick or tank is a good idea too

I am suing the original wick in this unit. I don't use it every day but it has burned many, many tanks of diesel conditioned fuel without any issues.
