We've tried these in the past - a reasonable price for those on a budget - and perhaps for those with a smaller appetite such as elderlies who perhaps find cooking from scratch a bit of a chore - a near perfect solution. When you add it up you really could have a decent meal every day and with what's left over from £20 possibly could live carefully on £20 per week for meals/basics foodwise.
If you take the health and well being of older folks, one of the main issues is high blood pressure. Salt or sodium can be a serious problem as it can hype the blood pressure pushing it high. 😗The salt / sodium content on this is 56% ! One of the worst processed foods on the market and I would tell them to avoid at all 'costs'. 😗Most processed foods are generally NOT good. Additives, salt/sodium levels AND have little real nutrient / diet benefits.👀
You can tell you are ex army Gareth, that worktop is spotless!! Great to see. I worked with a lad when I was at ASDA HQ in Leeds who was ex squaddie and he was a super cleaner, he shared with a few lads and he kept the house immaculate. Love these reviews, I live on my own and not in great health at min, so quick and easy meals are good to see! Thanks my friend, best wishes to you and yours. Nick
My wife and I lived on those kershaw meals for awhile. Got them from farm foods they where at the time 5 meals for a fiver. Cheap as chip's needed to be as we were on a budget. Great video take care 🙂
Love these reviews . Nice to know whether to try something or not if you’ve not had it before . Not many reviews on RU-vid of ordinary stuff people actually eat.
Hi, Gareth. Thanks for another brill review. That looked decent value for money if you are on a limited budget and looking for a quick meal. We don't seem to get Kershaws up here in the supermarkets..keep up the spot on work. Best wishes from Scotland.
Hi Gareth had. One of these on Wednesday night. Did it in the oven for 30 minutes at gas mark 6. The pastry and the chips are better when done in the oven. In fact the best thing about the meal were the chips and the veggies .There were no steak pieces in the filling it was more like steak mince but I couldn’t taste the mince because it was saturated with salt. Also I payed £2.29 in my local grocery store.
At the corner shop across from work years ago you used to be able to get these for about £1.29. Prices really have shot up over the years. Same thing at the shop up the road from me now is nearly 3 quid 🤣
Was lovely to meet you Gareth! I've got my eyes like a hawk on that volcanic curry stock and I'm watching for new lines to come in so I will email you anything I find.
I have had these ones before. They are very good for the price. I always take the pastry off and cook that seperately under the grill til it is golden and crispy. It comes out lovely then. I love your videos Gareth, just what we foodies need to see in these times of rising prices.
I've had one of these Kershaws meals (the fish and chips one). Definitely the definition of you get what you pay for in terms of portions size and quality (though the fish was actually okay)
The standard of cheap ready meals lately Gaz... Are really very good indeed mate!... A 400g meal like this one... With a few added slices of Bread & Butter... Is quite a decent stomach filler for the money... I've tried a few of the Kershaws ready meals before... But i haven't tried this one yet pal... I'll be keeping an eye out for this one the next time i'm out and about... Thanks for the review Gaz... All the best... Cheers mate. 🍺
Eh up Gazza hows tha doin. Great video mate. Amazing value for someone who's on a tight budget I miss morrisons. Hope all is well with you. And your behaving. I'm a bit behind with the last couple of videos. Been busy gardening. I can think of better things to do. Lol. Have a good one mate.
Great review gareth I get these very often from morrisons and farmfoods as they seem to stock them more than other shops and that along with the cottage pie are quality but the steak pie is the best especially when done in the oven 👍👍🥧🥧🥕🥕
Thanks Gareth brilliant review £1:50 good price. Serves a purpose. Looks good for a quick meal for one . Thanks again Gareth. See you on the next one ☝️ 👍
Hi G man, have you tried the Cooks pie mash and liquor from sainsbugs? Had it last week and thought it was yummy with plenty of salt and vinegar. Cheers
these meals are a god send for old and infirm people with carers. thanks for the review. still waiting on the noodle challenge .soba yakatori for the win.
I always get kershaw meals fish and chips, steaklet and chips sausage and chips but im not a big fan of the steak pie but if youre not really hungry these meals are just ideal keep making the vids i really enjoy them.
looks awesome, salt meh, but one thing about chip n pie butty, an Irish Guy came into Chippy, asked for pie (mince I think), got guy to heat, then remove top, and put chilli sauce and put pastry back on, with chips n gravy, legend recipe, yr thoughts?
I had seen Kershaws in lots of different places and I thought if Morrisons are selling it, why not give it a try? I had the Kershaws Chicken dinner and though a bit sparse, it was delicious. Don't know why but I kinda knew what the gravy would taste like and it did, weird that I thought it would be so good, weel done Kershaws!
The Kershaw's products do list allergens but they also state just below that that they are produced somewhere that also has a load of other potential allergens. I'm sure they their best to avoid cross contamination but for me that'd be something to think about.
My grandad gets all these perfect for him he said sometimes he whacks up some more gravy depending on the meal , think he gets 3 or 4 for a fiver ideal for him
I've seen these in our local Nisa and they are also £1.75 each...no bargains though if you buy more than one. Was thinking these would come in very handy if you happen to be an pensioner living on your own and on a budget, at least you'd be able to afford to heat and eat.
@@BaldFoodieGuy only windowsill bay Gareth lol! No, nowhere atm, but planning a short break maybe next year. It's stoppington again for the time being though 😄👍🏻
They serve thier purpose these meals. I've got a cousin who's quite a bit older and on a small budget ,so when I take him shopping he buys a lot of the meals you've reviewed and he's more than happy with them . He sometimes bumps them up with a bit of bread and butter or some frozen veg . Cheers Gareth 🍻
It's like this when uv been working all day and you can't be arsed to cook a meal just wang one in oven or microwave with a yorkie pud job done and you can't go wrong with the price
For the price will try this one. Been to Morissons earlier and bought one of those 99p beef hotpots to try for tea and a chicken one in the freezer for another time xx
Looks and sounds good for a ready meal! The only think that bothered me was in the allergens it had mollusc! why on earth would mollusc be in it ? that puts me off eatting it.
Cheap as chips, ok meal for those at work or on a budget, pastry in microwave will nearly always go soft, oven or air fryer is the way to go for a crisp top and crispy chips. Is electricity expensive in UK? (I am in OZ, expensive here.) Not a great deal of meat, plenty veges. 8 from me.
People who criticize these meals should remember they are cheap...what can you buy for £1.75 these days? Not much. But these will at least stick a hot meal in your stomach without costing a fortune. Yes you can probably go and get a similar meal from marks and Spencers but it will be about £7
Not sure about that Gareth. Not my cuppa tea. But I've got another for ya pal. S/burys £4.50. 600g "WASABI" spicy Korean chicken wings. Best don't int oven for that crispy skin. Been neez pal 😋😋😋
You cannot knock what it is with budgets being squeezed then meals like this will become favorites, and not just available In Morrisons either you couldn't shop and buy them things individually which should be kept in mind. They also do other ranges in the meals that they do so spot on to Kershaw's
i like to put canned minced beef and onion or canned beef over chips for a meal. Hate microwave chips with a passion, oven chips can be ok but i normally just go full on traditional and deep fry. Cheapestasda own brand chips are my goto, taste like potato chips shoould and no faffing about.
Just looked on Morrisons website offer at the moment all Kershaws ready meals 3 for £5 sorry dont have time to post this on all your Kershaws reviews. Hope you are feeling better.
