I might put it in at the end of Tuesday's vid. But basically, I think they're saying that they're going to go quiet for a little while. Probably while they write music.

+Mike Craig-No, to me, it is painfully clear this song is a gigantic fuck you to Dr. Luke. A final kiss off for everything he has put her through (he clearly was AT THE VERY LEAST verbally abusive and manipulative-to where he contributed to an eating disorder-because he told an already frail and skinny girl that she was "too fat. . .") and that at the end, she will wash her hands clean of him. He will never be a part of her life ever again, she will never hold any love in her heart for him ever again. She will erase him from her life and eventually forget him entirely. And when she says that she hopes that somewhere he's praying. . .she's wishing, hoping his day of reckoning will finally come. She wishes for the day he will finally get what is coming to him and that she can see the fear in his eyes, the same fear that she used to have for him. . .That the last thing she will ever have to see from him and eventually phase him out entirely is knowing that he is afraid, afraid like she used to be. This song is definitely not about forgiveness, rather it is angry, vicious, bitter and outright hostile. . .This song is less about forgiveness but more about healing. To learn to finally love yourself, to learn to heal. To love again. . .But she doesn't wish Dr. Luke well and never will. . .Until the day comes where Dr. Luke finally gets his, she will live her life again and be able to. . .just be herself again.. . .
She's laying on that raft the exact way Jesus was posed on the cross. She was wearing a fish net on the land - Jesus was "Fisher of Men." At one point she is wearing in the net the EXACT same colors as Mary. The special light blue and white. I think that hill represents something about Mount Sinai, where Jesus was able to "see God's face" - which is SUPER HUGE that the hill says God is Love - kinda says it all. I think there's a sign that says Holy Bible on the foot of the hill. There might be other signs too on it but I haven't paused it to see what they say. The whale is also really significant BC of the story in the bible about Jonah and the whale. I do agree with you about her love of nature and love is God etc. too. But as someone who didn't have a choice and went to 16 years of Catholic schools - I was literally STUNNED at the amount of details and references to everything Christian/Catholic/Bible related. I'm pretty sure I'm just skimming the surface on all of it in this comment. Her love of nature and love of love for all things and New Age stuff is not mutually exclusive to the core beliefs that founded Christianity thousands of years ago. The general message of Christianity and Catholicism is so kinda lost today - the basic core of it truly was and will always be love. Politics and crooked people and misunderstandings screwed it up. But its true message will always be the same. LOVE!!! Her video rocked me on every single possible level. I also like the presence of butterflies in that moment right before the song starts really building. Sorry for rambling... I dig your channel a lot man!!!
She is only allowed to release music without any input from Luke but the album will still be released through Luke's label Kemosabe and it's parent company RCA/SONY
Great analysis. I've been trying to figure out if it was Dr. Luke symbolism, or a more vague symbolism. But it makes sense that it's both. Btw, I was wondering, what's the pic in the background toward the left?
THIS IS IMPORTANT: Kesha has said that the law is she has NOT been released from the contract. Even Sony can't do anything because the contract is between her and Dr. Luke, so only Dr. Luke can do it. But, Kemosabe has gotten rid of Dr. Luke as CEO and now she doesn't have to do anything with him, he can't influence her album release anymore. He still gets royalties though.
Hey! Cool shots of you doing the whiteboard and the speed-drawing. I'd like to see more of that kind of analysis. Still, do what you think is best. Keep up the good work!
Great video! I love this new format! I really believe that great music is a marriage of lyrics AND melody, rhythm, harmony, form, dynamics, etc. It's why I'm not a huge fan of pop music. Most pop music is more like a cheap relationship rather than a marriage. This song is really great. There is a hint of gospel music to it and the emotion in her voice just sells it. Not a typical pop tune at all. Anyway great job on this one - love it!
Thanks so much! I don't know if every vid from now on will look this good, but this is getting closer to the bar I want to set. And I know what you mean about the relationships of pop music. It's nice when you get one that's actually real.
Keep up the hard work Professor and a little pretentious you is okay with me who is a purist at heart like you. Nonetheless, 'best practicable' any day over 'the best'. Foolish to sacrifice good in the quest for the unattainable best :) Good luck! Keep learning, keep growing.
