im on my 8th treatment. i lost over 10 lbs by simple change of habit due to lower depression symptoms. r-ketamine is banned for psych use only s-ketamine in my area of the world
This treatment I did back in 2019 and was mind blowing literally hahaha my insurance won't cover any more though but very effective in suicide ideation!!
Ive had ketamine quit a few times and ive noticed every single batch they i get feels different. Ive had it where it feels nasty and am frozen and cant move and feel like everyone out there to get me. And ive had an other ketamine that makes me feel really lively happy and am of me head tripping but it feels like everyone loves me and feels amazing but am not sure out of them feeling's which ones s or r or RS it all confusing me but i would like to know which one is it that the one that makes you lively and happy and trippy. As i dont like the other one where you cant move and feels horrible
Generally the s ketamine is the one that has made me feel like I can't move and paranoid, the r ketamine feels good and makes you happy, but when you get normal racemic ketamine that's what I like, it's the perfect mix.
Wish i could tell the difference, but on one type my appreciation for music is greatly enhanced, the other not so much. But both have helped me to escape my state of mind by their dissasociative effects allowing me a break to reset. I have tried a near endless list of antidepressants previously with no luck, but K is something else.
Can confirm IV ketamine is better then Intranasal, IM is also good but im less comfortable doing that to myself then i am IV, Plus IV works faster and hits harder.
My friends take K recreationally is there anything thing better than this for recreational purpos coz K is usually taken by injection and i don't think people high on K have any scence of dosing. A video on pharmaceutical drugs with most recreational effects is much appreciated..... You are doing a great job...👍
I have diagnosed depression symptoms since 8 years old. I had times without it but it mostly lingers around. 10 years ago i got into recreational drugs, LSD, mdma and amphetamins first. I liked basically all drugs except opioids (lucky me). I always got and still get excited about ketamine, long time since i had it, generally my drug intake has massivly reduced. Ketamine never really put me down like mdma or a intense acid trip. Really makes sense now, u just blast through all your happy feelings with mdma while on ketamine something diffrent happens. I hope i get to try this in a real medical setting someday, with a professional by my side. I wouldnt say im completly treatment resistant but my happy mix of pills i have to take dont really seem to work the past 2 years, but they worked almost 4 years better then anything before, so we are quite wary of changing medication. I really appreciate and enjoy your youtube channel, thank you!
I like how that nature article labeled esketamine as a "party drug". Depression is a horrible curse that most just don't grasp the severity. I wish I could receive a Ktreatment.
It IS a party drug for a lot of people. And a ton of people (mostly kids) are trying to get ketamine before running through any other treatment options with more research and better safety profiles because they snorted it with their friends or because they are "anti pharmaceutical" or whatever. This is an interesting drug with unique properties for people who have gone through other options. Drugs need extensive evidence to be first line treatments. I was suicidal and I've found a ton of success with what I'm on.
It's quite expensive, That has always been my complaint for drug addiction treatment.... that the effective treatment is not affordable to the people who most need it. So as usual anything successful isnt available, which makes you wonder why its not made available to them.
Shrooms microdosing helped me overcome my life long addiction to cigarettes and alcohol, I just relocated and they're so hard to come by here, I really need to buy some
I was looking into ketamine infusions for my treatment resistant depression. It’s like 400 dollars per infusion and can’t be covered by insurance, I assume because it isn’t widely accepted as a treatment. I may try it out after I get my tax money.
so i have this question DCR guy i have heard of K being used for Pain Management i have a T10 to L2 fusion with T 9 and 8 Kyphoplasty from completion fracture L5 S1 Laminectomy Discectomy THAT HURTS LIKE FUCK TODAY and a C 3-4 Discectomy and Artificial disc any thoughts on K in regards please thank you in advance
Wow. This video is incredibly informative, while staying trustworthy like they always have been. Glad we have you back. Keep the great work up, I hope you release more brain food for us soon.
Ketamine is the fucking best yo! SSRIs are junk & other psychedelics don't come close. I think S-ketamine worked better for me but there's no way to really tell which enantiomer it is.
Ketamine literally took away my will to die. I've been trying to self-medicate for like 8 years now and in retrospect it's only put me further into my hole. But I got some S isomer a while back and it literally took away all my suicidal ideations. Its been a long time since I've looked forward to life. It's honestly a fucking miracle drug. Everything you've heard about the antidepressant effects are one trillion percent true, and it's a fucking good time while you're at it too
@oldschool rap Clonazepam isn't even an anti-depressant it's a benzodiazepine (anti-anxiety medication). I'm sure if you have anxiety issues you do think it's the best, but for people with severe depression it's not. I mean it feels nice but it won't cure severe depression. Also it's worth noting that in the past 20 years, doctors have more and more been greatly cutting back on prescribing benzodiazepines long term because it has a number of really big problems. It's carcinogenic for one, it's also extremely physically addictive (you can literally die from clonazepam withdrawal). It also makes anxiety worse in the long term because it's basically the exact opposite of "exposure therapy" (which is what is replacing long term benzo use, and actually cures people instead of just masks the symptom). If you have had panic attacks for years though and take a benzo every time you get anxiety, it will literally just make your tolerance to anxiety worse and then without it you'll be sweating bullets doing nothing but sitting in line at the grocery store. So be careful of thinking it's a "golden ticket" out of your problems, because that's far from the whole story. @Mikael Herbertson If you are in the US you don't have to wait at all, you can go schedule an appointment at a Ketamine clinic and be in a medical K hole within a couple weeks probably Look up Ketamine Clinic Directory and you'll see a map of the sites in US that offer the treatments. It's totally legal and medical and done at specialist doctors offices, though it's usually not covered by insurance and it's very expensive( one clinic I saw had pricing and it was like $1,950 for pain related K treatments and $600 per session for depression related treatment). And a lot of the time they want you to go about 9 times, once for a big "flood dose", then 6-8 subsequent sessions for lesser doses, so it's really expensive for what is in the end probably able to be done at home for quite cheap. *TECHNICALLY, I couldn't recommend anyone to do such a thing, but I know people have. It's not even that complicated though, they literally just inject you with Ketamine in a dark room with a blanket and in a big comfy laying down chair and you can have headphones or whatever for your session. You could probably get a similar benefit just from being a raver in the UK for awhile and using loads of K it sounds like lol. At the clinics they also offer therapy to help people work through the issues, the chemical effect is what's truly miraculous here though. The FDA even said it was the "greatest breakthrough in the treatment of depression in 50 years". Make that ever.
Hey Seth what do you think of the usps’s new ban on vaping products (including nicotine and cannabinoids like cbd or delta-8-thc). It’s really rather silly and contributes to the misinformation about the safety of vaping.
Can someone please tell me: Does ketamine trigger epileptic seizures? I had my first grand mal seizure when I was 13, my last one was september 2018. Since then I'm on medication again and I never had a seizure again, no aura, nothing. + I never had any "triggers" for seizures. They often came out of nowhere. Maybe it was stress or something. I got kinda curious of ketamine, that's why I want to know. Does it only happen with intravenous infusions, or is it also possible if you take it nasally? Or if you take waaay too much, or poly drug use? Or something else? I would appreciate it, if someone had an answer to this :) And please don't answer "Ketamine is dangerous, don't take it!!!!", this is not what I was asking :D
Don't take it if you're susceptible to seizures. Do you by any chance take any anti-epileptic drug? I.e. lamotrigine or gabapentine kind of substances? If you do take ketamine anuway, if you can get ahold of flumazenil nosespray and a sitter who can give you a intranasal dose if you do get seizures.
@@pgroenable I take Levetiracetam since my last Grand mal seizure in september 2018. Since then, I never experienced seizures again. And I "only" had 4 Grand mal seizures in the time interval of 5 years. Let's say I sniff ketamine. Is it only dangerous at very high doses like 120mg and more as far as epilepsy is concerned? Or could you even get a seizure if you only sniff like 25mg?
Persistent or " heavy " Use of Ketamine as " Vetala" or " Ketalar " is so unpleasant I can not imagine that the user/ abuser mentioned is taking a batch controlled, serial numbered product as a pure chemical.
Hey can you make a video about valproic acid/Depakin, the long lasting version, the sperimental one with soy lecitine and the effects if taken with oder drugs, nootropics or stims? I've just discovered this channel and I'm loving it, good work!
Since you've done so many videos on ketamine and Psychiatry could you consider doing a video on ketamine and chronic pain. Especially off label use of compounded ketamine troches and intranasal spray. I use it for my severe nerve pain and have read a lot of promising research on it. Thought it might be your kind of video!
i know its kind of an obscure substance but you should do a video on 2-methyl-2-butanol at some point. Chloral hydrate would be cool too, even though its pretty much impossible to find now unless you work in a lab that still uses the oldschool hoyer's medium for microscope slides.
s ket is excellent....used to get it from a certain brand of animal ket....racemic gets you stuck and you usually black out...s ket brings you on a journey and you can remember it!
When? Where prescribed and not in medical setting. For all the ketamine I have used in late teens early 20s I can say I could and still know it would allow me to walk away from any addiction but also help with anxiety and depression. I say to anyone i would drop any illicit or prescribed meds for a proper prescription for ketamine. Pharmacy script nasal spray I’d try. I always IM’d it not counting snorting in beginning but taking all recreational use out of it I personally know what hope I would have
I did 6 ketamine (Rescamic) infusions as my induction. the first week. I did.6mg/KG going up .1 each time. 3 weeks tuesday & thursdays. My Benzo use cut in half, My stimulant use completely stopped. My opoid use was unaffected although my view has changed & My PTSD symptoms were reduced by 75%. Ketamine saved my life. I was super skeptical @ the beginning but It was one of the best treatments ever. I hope anyone out there struggling can find help. Thank you Seth to helping me learn more about finding a new way of living. Its no Cure just another tool. Except this tool was the best glass breaker Ive ever used. so many variables as to how it helped but it did & I want to share hope is possible. living doesnt have to be a chore.
@@wes11bravo yeah the first ketamine clinic I went to it was like 350 out of pocket each visit. Now I go to a different place that takes my insurance it's only 25$ copay. But when I reach my deductible I don't have to pay at all. ! Maybe it varys state to state but in MN it's covered.
This is a much more interesting comment to me than most of the woo woo hippies hyping up ketamine because they snort it, or see it as some "alternative treatment". This crowd has made me pretty skeptical of it. I've found great success with bupropion (and daily exersize which is a big part of my routine for depression) so I'm a big proponent of all that. But it seems like it really has helped you. Would you mind elaborating on how it makes you feel?
Great overview of the research, I was not aware of some of these studies! You said (and I've read) that hallucinations and disassociation are undesirable side effects of S-ketamine but I've also heard that disassociation is necessary for an antidepressant effect. Do you know if there's evidence for that?
There's probably a complex interplay here between effects (leaving out 'side'), results, and the individual. One could totally imagine that a wise, experienced psychonaut could handle hallucinations and dissociation while potentially benefitting from them, but a young naive patient with depression might respond in many possible negative ways, the worst perhaps being avoiding further treatment if they're already treatment-resistant.
@@flowerpt I see your point, however I've heard from friends and other therapeutic ketamine patients that the antidepressant effect is correlated with the dissociative effect, or at least that you have to experience some dissociation to benefit. Maybe dissociation is simply a proxy for something else that could be achieved in another manner.
No. Dissociation is not necessary for an anti depressent effect. Curious where you heard this because it sounds completely made up. Dissociation is by all means a negative and undesirable effect. I've been on many antidepressents and settled a while ago on bupropion. I feel alert, probably the opposite of dissociated, my severe and suicidal depression has been pretty much alleviated along with daily intense cardio and weight lifting. I think you are misunderstanding what antidepressents do. If you are referring specifically to ketamine it wouldnt make any sense why it would be different. In both cases dissociation would be an undesirable effect, and if the disassociation is PART of the anti depressent effect I would say ketamine sounds like a far inferior option to something like bupropion.
In most cases it is mind over matter at the end of the day if you are depressed and diazepam isn’t working maybe try ketamine but make sure it is proper ketmaine
Welcome back man! You make me realize how little I know and how far my pharmacology knowledge has yet to go, which is invaluable. As well as learning about the video's topic itself too.
I used to take it, switched to adderall XR and IR. It's the same thing as dextroamphetamine and basically the same as adderall chemically, although adderall has 25% levoamphetamine and 75% dextroamphetamine. Only difference is vyvanse is a pro drug, meaning it turns into dextroamphetamine in the liver, meaning you cant snort it, because its inactive until it reaches the liver. Basically it's for preventing drug abuse. Which never worked for me, I would just take 3 or 4 and it was plenty abusable.
Psilocybin really helped my depression and helped me with using cannabis medically instead of abusing it. I'd highly recommend it, ketamine has always just been weird to me but I could see how it would help with depression.
@@michaelreynolds7469 kindof outta the blue here but i put my weed in the oven at 115° celsius for 40 minutes and sprinkle a pipe worth of it on a pre-heated cracker with peanutbutter. You might already have heard of it its called a firecracker but it makes it so much easier for me to use medically instead of smoking. Just putting this out here because i have too much weed at my disposal and sometimes use impulsively and regret it but dont have that problem with this edible and think others could greatly benefit from it by doing it this way. Peace
I did lityle bumps of ketami e while geeking on modafinil once was fun but end of night had chest pains and atthe time wasnt aware of how important it is to pay attention to health and limits
Would you consider doing a video on an antipsychotic medication called clopixol (zuclopenthixol deccanoate) I’m on 200mg a fortnight by depot injection
From my personal experience, S was much more effective than R and I only needed approximately half the amount to get the same effect. It's much easier to hole on S, whereas R never quite got there and was like having blue balls or a sneeze that won't come out. I guess it depends on what you're looking for, although I haven't tried to potentiate the effects by drinking any grapefruit juice to inhibit CYP450, so that's worth a shot.
Do you go to a clinic or get it on the black market? I'm a former recreational k user but I distinctly remember what it did to me and I really miss how it made me feel more at peace. I've been considering going to a ketamine clinic but don't know what to expect.
This is interesting. As someone with long term depression it sounds like a promising start but feel like it wouldn’t be really worth it unless you were really badly off and non-functional because of your depression, since the effect doesn’t last that long between doses, and doses involve getting f’d up in a doctor’s office once every week or two lol. But maybe they can refine it to work for longer or not have the hallucinogenic side effects in the future?
yes its a fragile line the difference between neurological issues and physical side effects causing symptoms. A lot of mild depression can be healed with simple diet and life changes.
I was rejected from trials for taking Xanax. I used K in the 80's and took it one last time in 2000. I said as I looked at the Delaware River , I could take this drug everyday. Strange it didn't effect me badly. I could drive , eat , and appear coherent. 40 years of benzos is a bitch. BTW The R sounds more effective.
I looked everywhere for a clinic in a reasonable distance from where I live that did Ketamine infusions for depression, and when I finally did, they told me my insurance would pay for it. Except, they wouldn't. If the Ketamine is used to treat pain, then they will. If it's used for depression, they won't. Eventually I just said "fuck it" and paid out of pocket for multiple treatments. I made it through two and said "NO MORE!".. Was one of the worst experiences of my life. And I'm beginning to think it wasn't even ketamine. Or even the right kind? I felt so sick, dizzy, sleepy, and just mentally and physically DEAD for the next 3 days.... From what I heard, read, and was told, my experience should have been much different.
That's ketamine dude. They use it as an anesthetic. Anesthetics are used for surgery. Go to a real doctor/psych and get some actual depression treatment that's not some hyped up hippie bullshit without enough research to back up the efficacy
@@vanteal I'm pretty left leaning. But It's true, if your gonna act like recreational drugs with no studies to back them up are "anti depressents" you might as well just use heroine. Not sayin that's bad I'm an opioid addict myself hehe
I would and have dropped any habit forming drugs like opiates mainly w detox. I look at this as a life savor drug for me. I’m trying to get it for multiple symptoms I’m dealing w diagnosed over my whole life from preschool. It helps my depression add and aspergers overwhelming me along w pain neurological and physical. I always I.M it but snorted way back when. I pray I can get real help. It blows benzo sour too for me so I don’t have issues w lethal withdrawals and naturally a physical dependence over time as I’ve been on the over 15 years now. I pray people really see the good in this and more than a rave drug. I know it’s legal where I am w clinics but won’t take insurance and is ridiculous prices wow being rich like truly rich to pay the weekly price I would have no home food or transport so please I gotta see this get easier for help. If anyone knows anything please let me know
One of the issues with rodent studies is the unique effects of breeding for laboratories. I'd recommend looking at the discovery Bret Weinstein made about shortened telomers in mice populations in the wild v. for scientific use.
