I have never made a chaffle but I think I am going to have to give them a try. I have made Victoria's keto flour and it is amazing. I just hope the bamboo flour will be available again.
I made chaffles using 3 Tbsp Almond Flour, 1 Tbsp Sour Cream and a Lg Egg. They make great sandwhich breads, waffles with sweetner or just butter holders. 2 chaffles only 1.5 net carbs.
Oh you did what I do! I use Victoria's NKSF for chaffles all the time. I add blueberries and make them in batches (Keto Twins convinced me to get the 4 chaffle maker, lol) which I freeze just like regular breakfast waffles. I also make Victoria's mix with Lupin instead of the pecan/almond; it's lower in fat than those. Thanks for all the fun videos - when I open your channel I always say, "Y'all!" 😆 I live in Georgia so it's okay here, lol.
Thanks so much for trying out our chaffle recipe! We are honored ❤ and glad that you liked it. We will need to test out that bamboo flour soon! It’s been hard for us to find but it’s on our list for sure!❤
Wow! Thanks for stopping by to say hi. Big fan, here! You’ve got a lot of love here in these comments. And yes, the bamboo fiber is like powdered gold these days. (If this RU-vid thing dries up, I’m gonna start growing bamboo on my patio!) 🙃
I love the Keto Twins version! Super crispy. Their recipe makes quite a few and if I don’t have time to make the whole batch the batter stores well. If I make the whole batch and don’t eat them all, I store them in the fridge and reheat them by simply placing the Chaffle back in the mini waffle maker. The secret to making theirs is to under load the maker so there are holes in the Chaffle… it shouldn’t look like a waffle when you’re done but more like a Lacey waffle. Hope this makes sense.
I like the Keto Twins version. I don’t think I would be inclined to use the one with Victoria’s flour because of the amount of ingredients. I like to keep it simple & easy, when possible. I highly recommend everyone subscribe to the Keto Twins. They are a hoot & really test a variety of recipes. ❤
I love watching the Keto Twins channel, almost as much as I love your channel. With all their banter back and forth, you can tell they are sisters. 🤣. I prefer their chaffle recipe for savory over sweet, because I can always taste the mozzarella cheese. It may be mainly the salt, not sure. If you want both sides to brown equally, what I do is divide the batter into the number of chaffles I’m making. Then I roll each one into a round ball and put them in the middle of the chaffle grid and close it. The waffle iron will push it into the edges for you. That way both sides cook the same amount and will come out golden and equally crispy.
The Keto Twins rock!!! Go there! I like to add a scoop of vanilla protein powder to an egg with 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, a shake of cinnamon, and maybe some sweetener and vanilla depending on which protein powder you use. Then cook them in the Dash and top them with either sweetened cottage cheese or Greek yogurt mixed with fruit if you need the carb macros. Makes a great breakfast! I would never to to the trouble of making that flour. Life is too short. The other flours taste just fine.
I love watching the Twins as well. I have made their version with the almond flour, egg whites, mozzarella and xantham gum and it’s so good! I also made their chocolate chaffle and it is also quick and easy and delicious! For the Twins’ first one I mentioned I also sprinkle some shredded cheddar onto the Dash before putting the batter on and it makes extra cheesy crispiness. 😋
This is a good Chaffle for an egg fast. Mix together 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons mayo, 1 oz softened cream cheese. In your heated mini Dash sprinkle about 1 tbl. chedder or mozzarella, half of your egg mixture and another 1 tbl. cheese. Cook for about 4 min. Makes 2 Chaffles.
Alternate recipe using Victoria's flour. 1 extra large or jumbo egg (or 2 small) whipped. 1 to 1.5 oz of cream cheese (you can use a blender on pulse to mix but do the rest in a bowl) Add 4 to 5 tblsp of Victoria's keto flour. add 1/4 tsp cinnamon add 1/2 tsp vanilla 1 teaspoon of avacodo oil. You can add a bit of baking powder to help rise. Also if you are not gluten intolerant you can add a few pinches or a little extra xanthan gum. (you may have to adjust to your preference) Mix until is like thick cake batter. (Add heavy cream or coconut cream/milk to thin if needed.) Cook at least 5 minutes or until golden brown. Can be frozen and then dropped in toaster to reheat at a later date. can also be used to make ChanCakes.
I made chaffles with canned chicken, cheese, & egg. I used them as a bun for a burger. It was so filling I couldn't eat the last few bites. I would love to find a chaffle cook book with every variation possible. The best plan for success is being prepared for a hunger attack. Having a refrigerator or freezer stocked with premade chaffles is a great plan. I want varried flavors such as pizza, maple, pumpkin spice, chocolate, cherry vanilla, etc...
Thanks for trying your own version with Victoria's flour-with -the-long-name! I'm going to have to give them a try tomorrow for lunch - they look like they'd hold up to a burger (although it's been some time since I used chaffles for a burger bun! 😂 Something about that crunch...maybe I'll wait another day or two and make myself a chicken Parm sandwich on chaffle instead. Yum!
Since I haven't made the 2.0 flour yet someone should test it using the non cheese chaffle recipe for bread, lol. No crunch for me as a bun/bread replacement.
There are also some of us who choose to not use almond flour or others that are high in Oxalates too. I research a flour, nut or grain and even veggies (Spinach is high!) 😢
Almonds are not nuts. Technically. But the allergy doesn't know that ;) I avoid almond flour mostly because it's too calorie dense. I'm more low carb than keto, so counting calories is a thing :)
I've made a lot of chaffle recipes from Steve at Serious Keto. He has a ton of different recipes. I plan to try this one with Victoria's flour which I happen to have.
I expected a chaffle from Keto Steve the Chaffle King... Nevertheless, maybe it's time again to pull out the Dash Mini that's been collecting dust in my cabinet! Thanks, Wes, for trying these!
I'm fairly new to keto (5 months) but I've dove in BIG TIME ever since. A week ago I saw this video. I bought a big Dash waffle iron (4 waffles at once), all the ingreds for the Victoria's Keto Kitchen Version 2.0 flour, and made my first chaffles today. Man oh man. I'm hooked. Before I cooked my first ones I went down the rabbit hole in these comments and probably screenshotted 30 of the comments. So many variations and tips! THANK YOU EVERYONE! I made a bready chaffle today: 2 whole eggs, 1T Victoria flour, 1 cup finely chopped mozzarella sticks with a knife - (string cheese - 4 of 'em) and that's all. I am thrilled! They were delicious. Then tonight I made the same, but threw in 1/2 tsp of caraway seed and had a delicious pastrami sandwich. Wow. What a revelation chaffles are!
I make my chaffles with cheddar cheese, whole egg, almond flour, baking powder, garlic and onion powder. I use them as a bread substitute, add some salad and ranch dressing. I don’t go to subway anymore for my veggie delight since I can make a better sandwich at home. 😋😃😋
Another benefit of this recipe is that it is so thick I can make little "pucks" out of it and use it in my old square waffle maker to still end up with round chaffles, which I then top with cream cheese, smoked salmon lox, a fried egg, a drizzle of sriracha mayo, and some kombu flakes. Breakfast of champions (and old guys like me).
I love chaffles. here is my recipe. it is more like wonder bread 1 egg 1 T mayo 1 T Almond flour 1/8 t baking powder 1 t warm water cook 6 minutes makes 2. I do 8 (16) at one time and freeze and cook in toaster Let me know if you try it
I love chaffels and the Keto Twins. I use their crispy version but use almond flour and usually add 1 TBSP or so of Everything But The Bagel Seasoning. Just love the taste. Thanks for the testing video. I love watching you too.
Love Keto Twins! Love their chaffle recipe. It's one of my favorites. My favorite lightly sweet chaffle is LowCarbingAsian cream cheese chaffle. Highly recommend you try it if you haven't already. It's the absolute best for peanut butter (two ingredients - peanuts and salt, usually I get Smucker's organic PB) and strawberry or blackberry chia seed jam or peanut butter and a few Bake Believe chocolate chips (better tasting, melt better & cheaper than Lily's, 9 oz as opposed to Lily's 7) when I'm craving Reese's cups 😂.
Love the keto twins! I find beef gelatin gives a great crust. My fish cakes come out fabulously crunchy. I love cream cheese, avo and smoked salmon on my chaffles.
Making chaffle pizzas for dinner tonight! I love the Keto Twins recipe. So far my favorite is to top it with cream cheese, everything seasoning and halved grape tomatoes. Also, if u use cheddar cheese it makes it taste like a cheez it 😊
We fell off the wagon, and paid the price, but as soon as we said “ we gotta get back” your channel was my first stop. I’ve been seeing the videos since we went out, and always said to the thumbnail, “I know, we need to get back” here we are. Thank you for your channel and content.
This was such a great video...I use the Twin's recipe and freeze them but I hadn't thought of switching out the 'flour'. I might try a few myself now so thank you for the idea. My favorite fall seasoning is thyme to give it a 'turkey dressing' flavor.
Thanx Wes!! Another GREAT video - i'm LOVING that you are continuing to make videos using Victorias keto kitchen's "Flour" mix! Amazon has the Bamboo Fiber back in stock - but everyone should grab some while they can - because it sure seems to sell out fast. I'd love to see you do a "cook off" making 3 different loaves of bread (Or making hamburger rolls!) Because keto breads are the one thing everyone struggles to find a good replacement for. Thank you again Wes!! Keto ON!
I make the Keto Twins regular chaffle all the time. I use Modern Pantry Prefected Xanthem gum because it mixes better and does not gum up. I am going to try the Victoria's flour today to make some. I also use more mix in the waffle maker for a thicker and crispy one
My favorite chaffle recipe is from the Serious Keto channel. It is more bread-like with no eggy taste. 2 egg whites (I use boxed), 1 oz (2 Tbsp) cream cheese, melted, 2 tsp water, 1/4 tsp Baking Powder, 1/4 cup almond flour, 1 pinch salt. It might be even better made with Victoria's flour blend, but I haven't tried it.
Whaaat?!? Wes!!! No way have you not ever done a chaffel recipe and your channel was my go-to when I did keto for pandemic?! I swear I’ve seen one before and now gonna have to go through your entire channel to see whose battle I coulda seen because who else but you woulda/shoulda?! With the “new flour” and “at this point”, can’t wait to see the whole video and how they turn out…I just may dip into keto again! Btw, you look ah-mazing and LOVE LOVE LOVE your channels!! 🎉 ❤
The twins are great, lots of good stuff on their channel. I like my chaffles on the bready side to substitute for bagels, rolls and well bread. My freezer recipe is 6 whole eggs, 2 cups mozzarella, 1/2 cup whole milk ricotta, 3/4 cup of the flour mix I make, 2 TBLS brown Swerve or Sukrin Gold, 2 TBLS vanilla or maple extract, 2 tsp baking powder. I put the flour, mozzarella, and baking powder in a food processor like Serious Keto recipe and grind it all together. I put the eggs in a bowl and scramble them then add the rest of the ingredients and mix that up. Then I add the flour/cheese mix and stir it all together. 1/4 cup of batter per chaffle gives me about 14 chaffles on average, 13 in the freezer because I have to have one hot with cream cheese. All kinds of variations are possible. The last one I tried was throwing some pecans into the processor for the last few seconds of the flour/cheese grind, I will be doing this one again. My flour mix is equal parts of what I have on hand; this has included, lupin, almond, hazelnut, pecan, and coconut flours, plus I always use ground flaxseed meal, oat fiber and vital wheat gluten. Leave out anything you want, I like it like this.
I am so glad that you tested Victoria's new flour using bamboo fiber, in the recipe. I just made up a batch and was going to be testing it myself, but you did it for me! Thank you. I will be making these tomorrow morning.
Funny i just made a bunch of chaffles yesterday, 1 batch in the freezer and one batch in fridge. My go to recipe uses coconut flour which is highly absorbant so I bet you could also use Victoria's bamboo fiber mix. I use 1 cup mozzarella, 2 TBSP coconut flour, 1/4 cup water 1/2 cup egg whites, 1/2 tsp xanthan gum, 1 tsp allulose, or monk fruit/erithritol blend sweetener. MAKES 6. They are more like bread, not crunchy. Great for avocado toast. Cream cheese and Everything bagel season, use for soup, sandwich, or add sugar free syrup and butter, garlic toast for spaghetti or any saucy dish.😊
I make the original Keto Twins' chaffle, and love them better than any others! I have never tried the pork panko version but that's next for me! My chaffles are thicker because I use at least one more tablespoon of the batter for each. Sometimes I put chopped up pepperoni and/or garlic powder in the batter, other times very thinly sliced onion. That's as creative as I get! I love a hamburger patty on mine. It's so rich, I can only eat about half of it at a meal, so I save the rest for later. I have also tried the Wonder Bread chaffle before and I tend to make a batch of those once in a while if I want a deli meat sandwich. They aren't bad! I have seen Victoria's recipe and may try her flour concoction some day. Right now I'm too cheap to buy the ingredients (true story!) Love your videos! Thank you for your opinions and all your hard work! Best regards!
Great shout out to the Keto Twins. I started my Keto journey this year and it's amazing how innovative the Keto community is in creating new recipes. Watching channels like this and the Keto Twins has helped me stay on my Keto journey and try new things. I plan to make some pumpkin chaffles and cinnamon chaffles.
I just started making green jello chaffles. I lost my Mom earlier this year and she used to make green jello salad holidays and special occasions. Using sugar free green jello, 1Tbl of birchbenders pancake mix, 3 Tbl of egg whites and 1/2 C mozzarella. I grate one baby carrot and add 1tsp crushed pineapple. I’m not sure if anyone else would ever enjoy it but they came out so fluffy and yummy! Was like having a muffin. I absolutely love the Ketotwins! They took me from doing a keto diet to learning to live low carb. I’m only two months in and still trying to buy a few ingredients at a time. But watching you and the keto twins is inspiring me.
I haven't made Chaffles in quite some time. Thank you for getting them top of mind again. I just ordered bamboo fiber. It's coming from Germany of all places!
@caroleminnich8884 Yes I did. It cost more than the fiber. It will be traveling from Germany to Utah. I've paid more to ship from here to the east coast. Does anyone know of a domestic source?
I do the keto twins chaffle recipe and I add some potatoe extract and do it in a mini waffle bite maker and season them with seasoned salt... then I dip them in ketchup and they make a great sub for waffle fries. Have yet to try the panko chaffels... but i think I will tomorrow!!! Thanks for the demo! Oh- and Amazon has the Bamboo fiber... it showed up in my feed just yesterday.. not sure if it is new to Amazon- but there were several purveyors offering it
I made them using the crushed pork rinds. Made half of the recipe as you did. To me I could still taste the Xanthan Gum, kinda a slight slimy feeling. Next time I will just use 1/8 tsp.
Such a great video You are definitely the Star of the Show The chaffel recipes are great I love Victoria perfected flour recipe and used it to make bread which turned out great
Went off the idea of potatoe pancakes and make something with rice cauliflower cheese egg green onion and some almond flour. Got to get those veggies on somewhere
Been away from you for a few years but your visit to chaffles lured me back…and how great to see your slimmed down self. Bravo. I eat chaffles for breakfast every day….the crispy Keto Twins recipe.
OMG, are these great. I waited so long for the bamboo fiber and finally got it and because of Victoria's recipe for her flour, I have been baking up a storm and I am afraid I am going to run out before I can get my hands on more. Thank you for trying it in this recipe!
I subbed 2 teaspoons of Knox gelatin, in the red box, for the 1 teaspoon of xanthum gum. I also just use 1 whole egg. They come out crispy like original Keto Twins recipe.
I love watching Emily and Sarah and have tried some of their recipes. I'm not a fan of chaffles, so I make Deidre's Low carb bread or make waffles with your pancake recipe, by adding a bit more oil and liquid. I love your videos as well. Thanks so much for this Wes.
I got started with keto using the chaffle! I use it for everything! Lol I really enjoy savory versions, especially with a little added cheddar on top & bottom & seasoned with Italian seas & garlic and make a little pizza or just yummy Italian sandwich!
Made two batches using Victoria's flour. The first batch was just as you made it. The second batch I added another tablespoon of flour and egg white. My wife...who is not keto...and I much preferred the additional chew in the second batch. We are using a standard All-Clad waffle maker and they came out a bit on dark side, even after only 3 minutes. I put the shredded cheese, Victoria flour, and xanthan gum in my stick blender mini processor and mix them up that way. Then I mix in the egg white in another bowl. Works great for me. That's enough chaffle consumption for today. But the experiment will resume as there are a lot of egg whites remaining in the 8 oz carton.
I typically like the softer chaffle better and add some yeast for the smell/flavor to be a bit like bread. Also like the sweeter kinds...carrot cake chaffle with cream cheese icing...french toast chaffle, oreo chaffle. Blooming onion chaffle. You can really do almost anything.
Ok here's my high protein high fibre chaffle, I do like to experiment with different quantities but this is what I had today 20g milled brown flaxseed ** 20g. Alesto super linseed mix ** 10g. Chia seeds 5g. Psyllium husk powder 5g. Inulin powder 1/4tsp xanthan gum 1/4tsp baking powder 15g collagen powder (vanilla) 30g beef protein powder (banana) 50g grt. Mozzarella cheese 2 large eggs 5ml. Avocado oil 75g. Smashed avocado * Splash of lime juice I mix all dry ingredients and put it through my spice grinder but a little food processor would work. Whisk the eggs, oil, lime juice together and then add the smashed avocado and blend. Add the dry to the wet and combine well. Divide to suit your waffle machine I have a 2 large rectangular type and this fully fills both trays and makes 2 very substantial chaffles. * can be left out to give firmer texture. ** can half the amount and add 10g of your chosen nut flour (I like ground walnut flour) These will give you 79g protein, 14g carbs, 26g fibre and 59g fat and a full belly 😁👍
My favorite texture is simply whole eggs shredded mozzarella dollop of cream and either maple or vanilla extract and sprinkle of cinnamon. Top with berries and sugar free maple syrup. Sometimes chopped pecans.
Love the keto twins, already subscribed. Thank you for sharing these 3 versions. I’m trying to reduce almond flour so I like there are recipes that doesn’t use any. Have you experimented with the new craze chicken flour yet?
When i first started making chaffles as a bread replacement, i was worried about eating so much cheese. I found a recipe using lupin flour. I think the cheesy, crispy chaffles are great, but for a sandwich, i prefer softer bread. 1 T lupin flour, 1 t tabasco, 1 t water, 1/4 t baking powder, 1 egg. This makes 2 chaffles. You can add seasoning, omit tabasco, however you want. If you want a little crispy you put some cheese directly on the dash, then add batter. Recipe is from low carb inspirations. Thank you Wes. You are a gem. I think i need some crispy/ cheesy chaffles to go with my soup. ❤❤
I adore the Keto Twins. Emily is such a hoot! I subbed them when I first decided to go keto to control my T2 diabetes. Their recipes are delicious and simple to make. I even love their flubs!
I was watching your pumpkin bread video from about a year ago and decided to see what you’ve done recently and wow, you look Great!! You’re glowing and have such a different projection with your personality. I’m on a weight, loss journey and you are my inspiration. Thank you for all you do.❤
Wes, I never even heard of a chaffle before! I was brought up with most;y plain foods and even when I was married, we had waffles, pancakes, but never heard of a chaffle. I will, however, make up some of that flour you made ahead of time, and use it in other recipes. I've got a tiny donut maker like your waffle maker. Thanks, Wes, for all you do to bring us tasted recipes and giving us their links. They get to have their recipes out among us, and that helps them and us!
Using a Belgian waffle maker, 1/4 cup mozzarella, 1 ounce cream cheese, 1 tablespoon almond flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder and 1 whole egg. Makes the perfect "pan pizza" base. Better made in advance...😋 Will try the lupin and pork rind crumbs instead of almond flour 👍
Great video! I like to put corn extract in my mix to get a cornbread taste. I use the Keto Twins older version of the Chaffle and it always turns out good. I freeze them and stick them in the toaster to eat.
Okay i just made these, decided to try the pork rinds. But i didn't have any ground, however i did have some of indigo Nili's pork rind breading made up (egg white powder and gelatin) so i tried that. They turned out awesome and crispy!
@theresahudson8620 I followed his recipe but instead of the lupin flour I used indigo Nili's breading mix. Mozzarella, breading mix, xanthum gum, then added the egg white
Love the keto twins and their chaffles, they're my usual go to. I have made them also with Victoria's perfected keto flour since I have so much made and can't get my hands on the bamboo. Not as crispy, but very good for a sweet version.
You are 4 years late for it for real 😂😂😂 but you did a lot more since then! Thank you ❤ Also, I needed this now more than ever! And I have Victorias flour mixed already! Sooooo happy for this video!! Thank you again!
KETO TWINS!!!!! Love those girls so much!! I make their prior chaffle recipe all the time (Havent bought the lupin flour yet) and love it!! They are technically keto and proud of it!!
I love the Keto Twins as well but I found you first so I keep coming back for more broadcasts by you. I have wondered if one can take fresh raspberries and cream cheese and mix those into the chaffle mixture. Maybe that is a better spread for finished chaffles but it sounds so good to me to have it cooked inside.
