Hello Tiho! Thanks for your interesting review! I have a question regarding EventX, and I couldn't find the answer anywhere. Could you please tell us if it's possible to record some playing with style, but not as an audio file? So I could change the balance/volume of the instruments in an already recorded song? I can see in the manual, that there is a function, called "STYLE SONG" recording. That looks like that, but it says: "Audio parts of styles cannot be recorded". How is that possible? If use a style with Audio drums, for example, why it can't be recorded like that? Could you please check this function, and let us know? I would really appreciate it. I would like to get the Event X, so I could record a song and jam along with it... but I need to be able to change balance, mute parts, etc. so Audio recording is not an option! And of cause, I would like to be able to use live drums, live bass, etc.
Hello Tiho . I have purchased the Event X And have it connected to my SD09 .is there a basic midi keyboard you could recommend that I could purchase that will connect with Event X .
Hello Tiho, thanks for your video, you make very professional videos. I would like to have your opinion about this: I still have SD9 and SD90 for 5 years already, so I am very familiar with them and I like a lot the sound of the styles in general. Now I am considering to move to Event and sell my SD9/90, however I am not sure if I will make the right decision, since I am not sure if the Event sounds better than the SD9/90. It seems to my ear that the Event sounds more processed and the SD9 more acoustic, which is your impression?. I also find the built case more strong and clean in SD9/90 than in the Event which is weaker/lighter and shiner/dusty, so even it is 1000€ more expensive has lower built quality. But I imagine that the Event should have lots of features more advanced than the SD9/90, beside active bass and solo playing instruments. Since you have move from SD90 to Event X, can you give me your opinion about the differences of sound, and if you are happy about the change or you preferred the sound of the SD9/90 VS the Event/X? Thanks a lot in advanced.
Both instruments, SD90 and EventX, sound great but different. I really can't say which sound I like more because I like both sounds even though they are different. I'm going with EventX because of the options and the new operating system. The possibility of having 128 user Instruments and the USER scale with the intervals I need are the reasons why I switched to EventX. Real instruments are Bonus, but I'm more of a supporter of MIDI patterns/Styles, which are far more usable and precise. Real Chords are the icing on the cake and serve as an addition that enriches the sound of MIDI patterns.
Tiho, Could you please confirm if user styles, ordinary user voices and registrations which we have made on an SD90 are compatible with the Event X if copied onto a usb stick and pasted into the relevant folders of the Event X. ?
Yes and No. you can use Registration, Some Styles ans Sounds, but you can't insert them directly from SD90 into EventX. I'll make a video about it in day two
@@Tiho2012 Thank you Tiho. Yes a video would be very helpful . I discovered that when I tried to copy and paste sounds and registrations from the usb stick it would accept them. Only some styles .
Do the SD90 and EventX have SST seamless sound transition? What happens when you play and hold down a key and then change the voice? Does the played key keep on playing? Thank you for this video.
Hi Tiho, because i am using the same novation controller and SD90 like you do I would like to know if there are differences in terms of programming templates for the event X. Sysex still possible etc. Is a Midi implementation chart available for event x? Thanks
There is still no official document on the EventX control, but based on my tests, I noticed that the control is the same as on the SD90. I also noticed that Performance cannot be controlled because even though I have control commands, they still do not work, the keyboard freezes every time I try to control Performance.
@@Tiho2012 Thank you very much for response. On SD90 I saw although that some sysex at a wrong time effects Synchronisation of live guitars randomly without any roule. I press midi reset quickly or change arranger to different one and sometimes it helps. But overall i'm happy with SD90 and SL 61 Mk2 .
Some functions/controls don't work for some inexplicable reasons and it's not because of Novation but because of Ketron SD90/EventX Simply, Ketron's information does not correspond to practice, especially if we are talking about tempo control or Fill control, then Voice2 and even other functions
Hi Tiho, thank you for this video. Can you please tell me what you use to switch between both instruments? Is it an extra controller? Best regards Albert
I have seen in videos that the fill in button is independent but can you program fill in automatic after pressing abc or d buttons? Or you gotta press it once fill in and later D”
You can activate the function to have an auto fill, but you cannot program which fill you want in which variation, but the fill from the variation will be played. Each variation has its own fill. When you go to MODE you will see options for FILL MODE
I always follow you. What about all the registrations I have on my sd90 changing over to the event? Having to redo everything is not wanting me to change.
Thank you for this comparison. When you do talk about registrations I’d like to know the following. How many presets (registrations” can you save? How do you search for registrations. Can you send a midi program change to the Ketron from an iPad and invoke a specific registration? Thanks
Have you tried the Korg Kronos with Karma? I find arrangers too inflexible, whereas Karma is designed more like super arpeggiators than rigid tracks or patterns - I could b3 totally wrong, that’s why I ask - these are very new but Karma has been evolving over 20 years or more - maybe not so much though now I think about it. Meh, what would I know, I’m an Engineer 😂
