Your comment re: ‘looking at forums’ to get pumped up about a workout made me smile. It’s been a strategy I’ve used for decades (and forums have evolved into the Dan John podcast 😉)

Repping the overhead press with a kettlebell is magic for me, in terms of physique. I always struggled with pressing barbells and even dumbbells in terms of shoulder feel and just never pushed it as hard as needed. The kettlebell press builds the entire shoulder girdle, which is imo the main thing in male physique, and leaves the shoulders feeling better than before. It’s amazing. Edit, always unilateral for me though. Then I still feel I’m getting some stabilising and core benefit. Just can’t bring myself to do something that feels like it’s solely for aesthetics anymore.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, Dan, and with such a thorough answer! I'm grateful for your insights as always. In a convenient coincidence, you've recommended my favorite exercises -- the press, squat, and get-up. Yet I so often get caught up in my head about finding balance that I gas my resources on a swing day here and there. I will certainly pepper in some static hangs and walking with your suggestions, and I think I might have a nice routine for the next couple months. Best regards :)

Hey Elliott, thanks so much for the awesome question, I'm in a similar situation. I recently got a walking pad - with all the meetings I have, I figured I could get in quite a lot of steps while working. Also doing kettlebell work, but weaving in the steps on the walking pad while doing meetings is a huge difference. Maybe that's also something for you do consider :) And funny enough, even before watching this, I also kind of knew the answer would be press, squat and TGUs :D

Your 2-3-5-10 rep scheme has worked wonders for be incorporating the bicep curl work I needed to prehab my forearms and elbows before doing Kettlebell or Pull Workouts. I do concentrating curls, then an inverted curl focusing on the negative and haven't had the tendonitis and forearm issues that have haunted me for decades. Jon Mountain Dog Meadows recommended curls and tricep pushdowns as what worked for him, and your rep scheme allowed me to hit the volume in a fun way that's more engaging than grinding out twenty or more reps... I binged your podcasts and put the things you said to work...

Absolute gold here! I want to call this Dan’s "Build a Better Body with Kettlebells" Program Question with regards to the 2,3,5,10 ladder: what are your thoughts on using a heavier load for the 2,3,5 rungs then a lighter load for the 10 rep rung? Or is it better to utilize the same load for all rungs of the ladder? Thank you!

You certainly could, of course. For me, when I use double KBs, I just tend to pull two out from the rack. There's no real science behind my laziness.

Hi Dan, would this method be good with pushups and pullups (progressing with variations) as well? like the press+squat+pushup+pullup with 2-3-5-10? Also the rest is as needed or a set time?

Great video Dan, but when do I do my swings? ;-)
@electrolollipop

I think in this routine snatches can be replaced by swings, for example, first day presses and squats, second day two handed swings, third day turkish get ups, fourth day presses and squats, fifth day one handed swings or snatches, sixth day mobility work.
