My older Keurig machine was on it's last leg. My son bought us a 2.0. I was kinda disappointed when I couldn't use my refillable cups. This hack worked perfectly!
I saw this machine in Target tonight, was thinking about buying it until I saw this. It's bad enough the machine cost so much, now you don't even have the freedom to choose the coffee you want...seriously
Thank you so much! I just bought this machine, and not knowing I couldn't use any K-cup, I have about 100 non Keurig brand coffees that were going to waste. Thank you so so much for sharing! I am going to try this right away!
Very, very good. Google will not give any answers how to solve this problem but, RU-vid does. I am much older and my hands tremble and it took me more than one hour to do this and still not 100% done. But with your help and people like You (and me) we can solve many awkward problem like this. Thank You very much for Your willingness to show us how it is done!
I tried it, it WORKED FLAWLESSLY!!!!!! Thanks for the video! I tried it with carafe as well and didnt have to remove the tape. Just make sure you use good tape so it doesnt come off. Again a HUGE thanks!
Thank you! I was just able to use my off brand K cups since I did not realize there was a sensor mechanism was on the 2.0. It was an easy and quick fix!
This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ru-vid.comUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.
i did it several times, faster, slower, and nothing worked. do you have a video showing how that's done? is that functionality on certain models? i cant imagine why anyone would go through all this if it was that easy :)
Update: my freedom clip arrived yesterday! It's amazing and absolutely works!!! It's a clip so you have the option of leaving it in the Keurig or taking it off! It also came with 3 coffee pods ! Guys if you haven't order your clip do it now!!
+MakeAcupCake As I said before, it worked but kept falling out and noe it is bent on one side. no it no longer works. By the way, mine is the keurig 250. it looks like they changed it again so some of the hacks now don't work. I hope they go out of business. I heard that their stock has dropped.
Oh hell yeah. I was trying to use a refillable pod tonight and I kept getting an error message. It usually works okay, but this saved me! No more errors. Thanks!
Thanks for this. Simplest workaround I've seen. After over 1.5 useless hours with Keurig tech support trying to get my "universal" Keurig brand refillable My K cup to work. I started searching the web to figure out what was wrong. Contrary to what the tech support was suggesting...It was that the Keurig brand refillable K cup was not getting by the sensor. INFURIATING. Thanks again.
This lady has the most beautiful set of hands and As well . thanks for the very informative tip. . I just bought one second hand for 15 bucks.. this video is awesome.. thank you kindly for sharing. best regards. steve.
It works!!! We picked up an older 2.0 at auction CHEAP; same as the one in your video, but I much prefer my regular coffee and not the pods. I just tried this and VOILA - it worked! Thanks!
I just did the hack and it works great, as we have some instant coffee and hot chocolate left, now theres no more waiting holding the button down to get hot water. I just upgraded my Keurig 2.0 TY.
Worked for me, thank you! An easier way to get the tinfoil label, though, is to simply cut the excess plastic below leaving an inch of plastic below the label, then cut as close as possible to the label using nail clippers and sand it down. It's perfect and much quicker. :) Thanks again!
I love this! I use this is my machine (k575). I used to use a freedom clip type clip in my k 500, which sadly broke. Unfortunately the clip no longer works, so now I use this hack, which has lasted a week with no issues, alongside a magnet, so I can use all pods and get the full menu.
If you open the next section where the display is connected you will see a wire harness that clips into sensor . I unclipped it not cutting any wires and it works perfectly! 😊💪
So many jealousy people on here comment about her rock. Rich or not who care. Purpose of this is how to use non k cup that u unable to use now you can after this video. Appreciate the work thanks.
Thanks for taking the time to post and figuring it out! I can't believe reading the comments that people think you have to do it every time :( The 2.0 is the better machine....
Thank You Sooo Much !! We Love our New Keurig ... Sad to find out that it wouldn't use our existing K-Cups... Now My Frown is turned upside down thanks to your Permanent Hack ...Yippeee !!!
Took seconds to do and it works well--only thing is you cannot make a carafe with this in place, as it needs to read the green dot on the larger K cups, and must then be removed to make a pot--not so handy! However, if you only use the refillable Solofill cups, you can permanently install the foil on top of those and remove them to use a carafe cup pod, which is likely what I will do soon.
Don't forget the magnet to get the full menu as well! Who has a magnet? You can find one in your shower curtain, at the bottom on either corner, most likely. Snip it out of there, find a video on here to show you where to place it. Best of both worlds. I've not done the lid hack yet (out of laziness), but I plan to tomorrow, using your method.
A lot easier then my method. I cut out some of the plastic, and basically made a little donut, then just dangle it over the top of refillables that are partially in the slot, close the lid into it. Usually works. It's an option for when you can't tape up the keurig, like if you're using a community set at work.
I was startled when I saw your beautiful nail polish & female hands. 😂 So I had no idea that this has happened...that Keurig really did this. Thought it was a rumor long ago & that the co. wouldn't dare. Just ordered the smallest machine from QVC. Better not have the same problem! Grrr. Have a nice day hand model. Hahahah.
thank you thank you holy crap bought the 2.o had to go back to store to get 2 different reusable cups and still didn't work....thanks to this hack I now have 2 reusable ones hahahahaha HACK ON! love the way the coffee tastes but not gonna spend 20$ on a special one
Thanks for this tip. I have to return mine now because it's stuck on 8 oz and won't move. None of the buttons work. I'm so done with this machine now. I did like the hack, though.
you could do this temporarily also, by peeling off a used kcup foil top & placing it just barely above the non kcup, then fold the foil over the top to make a tiny lip. Just close the Keurig & you're in business per cup instead of permanent.
Be careful using the hot chocolate K-cups......I've been told they will clog the machine. Not sure how or why but I have been told that by others. I only make coffee with mine but just wanted to let you know!
I just used a piece of tape, 1x1 in. piece of paper coloured using a Sharpie yellow neon highlighter, tape it below the camera & never touch it again. You get full menu & use any kcup you want, plus water heats 5 deg hotter.
THANK YOU for this... I was really pissed off to find out that all my K-cups were useless, even the Keurig branded ones that had the logo but not the ring around the edge. This stuff is anti-consumer, anti-competition garbage.
We just stopped using our Keurig. It was costing (for 3 of us) over $90.00 a month. We went back to bagged coffee and are now spending $15.00 a month for the same amount of coffee. Keurig was convenient but very expensive and wasteful. I cannot believe Keurig got away with non-recyclable cup for all these years.
My wife is on a never ending hunt for the K-cups at a 'decent' price. We have an earlier version machine that is not so picky with the camera, etc. I tried the reusable K-cup and it didn't work worth a damn. My hack is to use the Keurig machine to make hot water into a simple french press, like this one: Grosche Zurich French Press (Large (1000ml - 34oz), which is available at Amazon for a measly nineteen bucks. I use the Folgers Gourmet Supreme coffee. Dump a couple of scoops of grounds in the beaker and 'brew' a batch of Keurig water into the beaker. Remove the beaker, stir it up a bit and then replace and hit the brew button again. Remove from Keurig and squish the coffee down, pour into my 20 oz MojoEmo 20 oz. thermal mug an be on my way. Whole process takes a couple of minutes. IMHO, French press makes the best coffee.
I had one of these things for a short time I like real coffee so I make real coffee in a coffee pot it its better Sunday morning ritual I make espresso from a stovetop espresso maker these devices Get near that flavor in texture but I enjoy your hack and if I am hanging with some friend who is a victim of this machine will show it to him
Complaining souls HERE, please just stop! You're spreading negativity and making cruel comments that are out of line towards the folks who made this video. If you appreciate the tip, say thanks and move on. If this is not for you, just move on. Don't be such mean-spirited people. :D Enjoy your day. Thanks for the tip!!
Paying 200 for a coffee machine that isn't backwards compatible is just sad. I just now received a broken machine for free (broken screen). I took it apart and reverse engineered the operation to act like a normal coffee maker. The 2.0 is the most over-engineered mess of parts I've ever seen. It even had a phone jack On the bottom.
if u can find someone who has a Costco membership you can get the regular donut shop coffee 80 pods for 30 bucks or you can get 5 4 4 the same price also sometimes they have holiday edition
I have some reusable pods with orange rings around the top that trick the sensor, whenever I get coffee in unofficial k-cups I just cut them open and dump the coffee into a reusable one.
Thanks for uploading this workaround. One question though, does this restrict you to be able to brew only single servings or can you still use the K-Carafe function? Thanks!
Keurig replaced 58 old style K cups when I purchased new machine, about 30 Keurig Brand the rest off brand I received something similar, a better hack would be how to use the cup for your own coffee.
Weird, I do have a 2.0 K425 Plus and have had no problem using any kind of pods. I should say that with some brands the descaling message appears more often than with others.
I have this same coffee maker, I faked the lebal out before, biggest problem I have is some how grounds get into the chamber, that stops the Coffee maker from making coffee, I have to constantly clean it out. Crazy.
