Even if you were speaking broad Scots (northern) you may struggle to understand the Glaswegian dialect and vice versa, Glasgow-edinburgh-stirling-fife -dundee can usually intermingle without too much difficulty but up north like inverness and Aberdeen is a different ballgame .
