@niqowyd

@@eobardthawne6921 yes, risk everything. Yuta was undrafted 4 years ago and spent his first 2 years on 2-way contracts with 2 different teams. He can’t take a possession to rest or play lightly because he wants to earn himself a roster spot, he wants to belong on a nba team and not be stuck in the g league for 10 more years and end up wondering what would’ve happened if he played harder. Risk that injury balling out or be safe and never reach your potential??? What would you pick?
@milktea2422
@milktea2422 Год назад
@@eobardthawne6921 I think it’s more of the fact that, even if he doesn’t sign with the nets after this season, he’ll probably be picked up by a team that needs his abilities and will likely lead to an actual contract instead of a 2-way deal. He’s tryna establish himself as a hard worker that can do a little bit of everything, even if he dips a little bit in scoring he’ll probably get a real contract as long as he keeps it up for the rest of the season.

It's not "easy for KD to say". It's not as if he hasn't worked hard himself to have the career he's had. And it's not as if KD doesn't have first hand experience of how devastating some injuries can be. If Yuta gets injured badly that will hurt Yuta's career a lot more that getting called out by the coach for not doing his best Superman impression on every posession. How hard did Kobe and Derrick Rose fall off after suffering from a severe injury? If that happened to someone who's not a household name, like Yuta, he'd _never_ get a chance again. As long as Yuta stays healthy, he *always* has a chance at being in the NBA for the rest of his career.

Definitely some conflicting points of interest, but I understand KD's heart is in the right place. He respects the hustles and everything Yuta does for the team, but he doesn't want him to get hurt or tire himself for the back half of the season and the playoffs. Meanwhile, Yuta is fighting on every possession to show his value and secure the bag similar to AC. I love seeing undrafted talent thrive. I really hope the scouts and front office take notes and consider reevaluating their future picks.

there are also times where going for blocks/steals/rebounds hurt your team more than help. steals can lead to free drives, failed boards can lead to the opponent getting possession, blocks easily lead to and 1s. sometimes not doing anything is more likely to lead to a good outcome. there is almost no reason for example for a role player to jump against say embiid, any 50/50 call will go embiids way because they are a role player and he is a star. so trying to block his shots if you aren't in the right position to do so is just a free and 1. think that's another thing he is trying to teach not just the injury risk
