After watching this, I bought a set of new kicks, a new ball and went straight to the courts again after 1 full year of not playing a single basketball game. Well put together. KG!!!
2008 Celtics was one of the greatest teams ever. If we stayed healthy, we would have destroyed any other team. The Chemistry this team had was unfathomable.
You all had an All-Star team...Kobe had Pau Gasol, a dude with no knees, and a coke head as his supporting cast.... You should've won without Kendrick easily that's a bad excuse. Kobe didn't have Ron Artest in 08, does that mean they should've won? Injuries are part of the game my man, get over it.
Nowadays people say that KG is just a crabby old man. I was one of those people. I now realize that he was either betrayed by or just lost some teammates that he grew close to (Marbury and Sealy). After Ray Allen left Boston, that was probably the last time he decided to get close to any teammate. This is why I think KG has a bad attitude towards players around the league. People just need to cut him some slack.
^ he didn't say that he just RECENTLY became an asshole.. all he said was that he understands why he doesn't get close to teamates and is a asshole TO HIS TEAMMATES KG was always a good team player until his later years... don't be a little prick to get some likes
you couldn't be more right, KG is the ultimate team player on the court and out, it killed me when he left boston, the intensity level he played the game will never be match,
Scary. If it wasn't for some truly BS calls in Game7 of the 2010 Finals, and KG going down in 2009, Russell could have been right with the 2-3 rings prediction.
Love KG so much! Best Power forward to ever play! He deserves more rings. I wish he was still in Boston. Love KG he's a true champ! CELTICS ALL DAY EVERYDAY MISS KG AND THE TRUTH
To really understand Some people one must be an extremely Loyal person and Kevin Garnett is definitely one of those people. Most people misunderstand him cos most peeps nowadays are snakes... That's why people like him do not keep or get close to many people and I can honestly relate to that.
if KG had been drafted by a real organisation like the celtics from the beginning or the bulls or had been paired with another all star like shaq, kobe, pierce, for longer- he might be in the conversation of the greatest player of the past 20 years. I'm serious . the man has all the tools, all the talent, all the game- he could do everything on the court, he just didn't have anyone to back him up in his prime years. his 2003-2004-2005 years were stupid. I'm talking 24 points, 14 rebounds 5 assists a game. that was crazy. people talk about lebrun doing it all and dominating all box scores, kg did the same thing. he hasn't underachieved or anything, but i truly believe he could have been top 10 all time easily if he'd gotten a bit of help. in terms of talent, only trails MJ , shaq, and lebrun in my opinion, and in terms heart - only behind mj and kobe and magic/bird
He is the best and real organization did draft him and pay him over 120 million for 12 years. Got to the Western conf finals and won MVP 2004. He even respects the TWolves so much he has now returned. And the feeling from the organization is mutual.
Le- Minh yeah, i totally agree but i think it was for the better (that he was drafted by a below-average organization). he played for the Timberwolves even though the team was losing quite badly, he didn't complain, he in fact agreed on a contract extension (heck he didn't even wanna be traded, Flip Saunders said in a magazine that KG turned down a trade offer to the Boston Celtics twice and if the Celtics wasn't rebuilding, i doubt that KG would have agreed to be traded to Brooklyn). i hope that aspiring players would learn from KG, so far i haven't seen any player with the attitude and mentality like him. people just don't get it, competition ISN'T about winning, it's about HOW you managed to overcome the obstacles and achieved your goal which is winning.
Dennis AML yeah true- even though he only won one ring- i think he s one of ht most respected guys in the L. people respect him and Pierce more than Kobe in some respects- cos they might have only got one chip- but they did it with class, never blamed anyone or anything, never complained or threw their teammates under the bus, and never sold out to win a chip in an easier place- they did it the right way. total respect. of course- respect is different from like- and i think KG is also loathed by a lot of young players- who might have looked up to him, then go to the league and been bullied or trash talked to , by him. to them i say- you're a soft bitches. all these aau softies make me sick- i love that kg is old school hard competitive- thats the way he learnt it from barkley and malone in the 90's and thats the way he passes it on. unfortnunaltey its a different era now, and i don't think it ll ever change. young players start getting fmiliar all the way in high school- become best buddies and aren't gonna be grudging. they become international stars by the time their in high school- sophomore year. whereas bakrly and malone where like- i heard about this guy on the other side of the country- who people say is better than me- i hate that fuckin nigga. that was awesome that rivalry. anyway i digress- just sayin i love KG= he s true school man.
+Le- Minh i still remember the first thing KG did when they won the championship in 2008. he ran to the center court and kissed the celtics logo (not quite sure if this is the right term to use). you can see how much it means for him to win a ring. KG is being disliked for being a trash talker and yet most of those who disliked him idolizes jordan, bird, and magic. they didn't know that those legends are also known for being trash talkers. the old school basketball was played by real men unlike now, the younger players are acting like sissy girls, they would whine over a weak slap or push. before, push and elbows are common in a game but now when a player pushes another player or throw an elbow, you would surely get a flagrant foul or even get ejected right away. man, i wish i could watch some old school basketball, too bad that the only thing i could watch are documentaries and highlights. T_T
Kevin Garnett is my idol and my inspiration and the reason why I go on the court everyday and give it 110% all day everyday and I hope one day to be like him
This is beautiful, the spirit of God led me to two players to study em, both celts, larry Bird and Kevin Garnett, great men of character God used on the hardwood, mightily anointed on the face of earth to do great things, I pray thee we learn much from these two excellent individuals and may the spirit of God lead you too, Amen!
Kevin Garnett is a basketball player I was thankful to see growing up, and I'm gonna miss him as I grow to be 20 in 2 months. KG you were true to your feelings, heart and motivations. 🏀💪 #RIPMaleek
I'm a Lakers fan, but man... When KG shouted: "Anything is possible!" after winning the NBA Finals FINALLY, I actually nearly cried, because once again like he said: "You appreciate the ending of the story, because of the struggle." And that is just too true.. He's always been an inspiration to me and I respect him as a basketball player, and as a person.
this is an old school player that could have fit in with the greats of the golden age of basketball. Hustle, hard work, and although he may have won less because of it loyalty puts him in that class. Moses Malone broke this trail and god rest his soul I'm sure he was proud of a guy like this.
Man, this really hit home. If KG doesn't get injured the next year we would have the threepeat. It has been an awesome ride to be a Celtics fan the past 17 years.
Huang Jeff You put KG in Duncan's position with his coach, their system, supporting players, even the medical staff and Garnett wins twice as many championships as Duncan. KG's career numbers in all categories are unfathomable, especially being on a god awful timberwolves team. Garnett was abandoned by teammates, ignored by the timberwolves front office, scrutinized by the media and his franchise, and left to carry an insurmountable load by himself. Tim Duncan encountered literally no adversity his entire career and expended like no energy because the spurs offense made his life so easy. Meanwhile Garnett is forced to score, rebound, and orchestrate the offense and defense of a no-name team all while entertaining fans. You wanna see what KG had to do to just win a playoff game? watch KG's game 7 performance vs the Kings in 04. KG > Duncan. Duncan was just lucky...
Always have been a huge inspiration. Toughnosed and always ready to lead and go without any real arrogance but always ready to step up and do what he can!
some people were just born with great basketball talent.... KG was born to be a great basketball talent, the way he dedicates himself to the game and takes it so seriously in something thats self motivated... great thing to see in an entertainment business/sports
the Bill Russell "I'll give you one of mine" moment is trumped only by "I got my own. I got my own. I got my own." so glad KG got his. proud it was in Green.
From the Best Player in the league in 04 ... averages a double double almost everygame in his prime... to a aged role player in brooklyn ..... KG is still one of the greatest player bigman and champ.. that ever stepped in the NBA .. there will never ever ever be another KG ... my top 3 most favorite athlete
Man I'm just imagining KD with KB.. Those two tigers will be a friggin dynamic duo. Imagine the intensity they will both bring to the game. Makes me shiver!
My friend sent me this link, his hero is KG and he always raves about him, but I'm not much of a basketball fan so I never completely understood... I do now
1:14:10 KG in the bench was shouting, "top of the world", seeing that you can tell how much it means to him to win a championship.. 1:14:34, KG kissed the floor after the final buzzer in Game 6 of the 2008 NBA Finals.. that made me cry.. man, this guy deserves more ring than anyone else, i really hope he wins another one in Brooklyn.. KG is definitely a winner..
I can't man this is the type of motivation that I will never be able to use because it is so powerful to me Im just glad it exist so that one day I can look back on it at ease when it is all said and done too many if and or but moments every time I look back at these times maybe after #18 it will sit better till then it's the story of the sweetest misery that made it all come true flashing by way! too fast with very little regards
Ya know, I still know a lot of haters that deny saying that "kid" would never make it in the NBA, when Kevin was drafted. KG - The struggle continues... stay in the ear of those rooks, yo.
