This man is the absolute epitome of transformation from a ROSE THAT CAN GROW FROM CONCRETE... Kevin Gates went on a Mike Tyson interview and revealed he was molested as a child, which created an atmosphere for other men to feel safe to share their experiences as well. The "Big Gangsta" was able to make a space so safe that it allowed Mike Tyson to actually reveal that HE WAS ALSO MOLESTED, and then Mike Tyson began crying on his own show! There are so many people that are against Kevin Gates, but I pity those people because they are truly missing out on an opportunity to learn, heal, laugh, sing, dance, vent, meditate, and pray - all at the same time. Kevin Gates is not just another "rapper." He's not even in the category of "rapper" - he's just an ARTIST. He can do it all. He sings, raps, he writes poetry, he has been featured on country songs (with Colt Ford, it's actually a pretty cool song - called "Hood"), has a farm, he hunts, fishes, runs a farm, owns his own coffee brand ("The Ritual") owns a legal marijuana dispensary along with a legal farm for it (since he's a Native American he's allowed to grow certain strains for "medicinal purposes" as his Natives - the Tainos as well), and also owns other merchandise. How could anyone even have the balls to say anything negative about someone like this when he has made such a miraculous transformation? The people that speak negativity about Gates are the ones that hold onto his past, have preconceived notions that are untrue, or are just blatantly prejudice in some way, as I said already. If someone like Gates has attempted suicide twice, especially by literally shooting himself directly in the head with a .38, and still has not been taken off of this earth, God has him here for a Greater Purpose. I, myself, believe he is a spiritual being with a spiritual purpose here. Maybe he's here to help heal the world full of people who suffer; maybe he's here for some other purpose, but I believe that everyone on earth is here for a reason. And since Gates is still walking around with that .38 slug in his head and is not 6 feet under, I believe he is a spiritual being, just as he states in his music and interviews. I know he sounds weird when he says it and maybe I do too, and everyone probably thinks it sounds crazy because no one ever discusses spirituality or our Greater Purposes here on this earth. Maybe some people don't believe there is a purpose for us here, and we're just here because our parents created us, but I believe we were created for a reason, and we continue to defy death throughout the years - by avoiding car accidents, for example, or having terrible health conditions like heart attacks or cancer - for a Greater Purpose here. I was introduced to Kevin Gates around 2012 or 2013 I think, and I was going through the same kinds of personal things in my life as he was at the time - street life, drug addiction, trying to establish a family but having some things in the way. And his music was appealing because it was different, and something about his eyes just drew me to him and showed me he was different than other rappers. I looked into his background, and I saw that he really did live the things he talked about, and he was not fake like the other rappers. I saw that his music was therapy, and he wasn't rapping for top chart numbers; he was making music because he enjoyed it, and he wanted the listeners to really FEEL that song too. The songs of his that made the radio always seemed to top the radio charts when he was in jail, and then I'd see him on an interview when he'd get out of jail, and he'd have the jail mentality and be saying, "Please don't touch me" and "Penitentiary rules in effect." But when he'd open his mouth and actually speak in those interviews, he would share about how badly he wanted peace in his life. I could relate. He wanted a change. He wanted a family. He wanted to get sober. He wanted his kids to be happy and with him always and he wanted his kids to see him as a great father. I was on that same path. I wanted to get clean and have my kids see me as a great parent and have peace and be out of the street life. I wanted no affiliation with the streets, and I wanted the white picket fence and college, etc... It didn't come for me then, and it didn't come for Gates at that time either. And I stayed tapped into Gates, and I continued to watch his journey, and it was just like mine. He released that song "Betta For You" that he wrote for his daughter, which I told my daughter makes me think of her when he says, "Seems like every day you're growing, I'm like wow - I love to see you smile, bae, it kill me when you cry - I wish I could hide you from the world but I know I - Can't stop none of this pain you bout to feel cuz I'm not God - Bae I wish I could be betta for you, betta for you, Bae I wish I could be betta for you, betta for you - Maybe one day I'll be betta for you, betta for you - Baby one day I'll be betta for you, betta for you..." I apologize for posting such a long reply on your comment for this video, but when I see someone who truly appreciates the art of Kevin Gates, I love reaching out to them because I feel like they are a different type of person in this world. The people who truly FEEL and RELATE to Kevin Gates' music, and have used it to heal, are people that I can relate to as well because I can see myself in you. I have been through every imaginable struggle in life; I should write a book or make a movie. Instead, I have gotten to know Kevin Gates - better yet, let me correct myself - KEVIN GATES HAS ALLOWED ME TO GET TO KNOW HIM THROUGH HIS HONESTY AND TRANSPARENCY THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER AND PUBLIC BROADCASTING - WHETHER IT BE TV, RADIO, INTERNET, CD, INTERVIEWS OR CONCERTS - and because he has allowed me to get to know him and follow him on his journey, I have (ironically) followed the same path as him. He is now on this amazing journey of transformation, and I am as well. I have turned my life around, am pursuing a very big college degree like I've always dreamed, I have a great job that I never thought I'd be able to get, I have a beautiful home and my kids are absolutely wonderful and so happy that I am clean/sober (for years now), very well employed, and pursuing a major medical college degree like I always dreamed when I was a kid. I had a big turning point on learning to love myself, which is how I can relate to this song. Here's my spiritual awakening that I learned from God through Gates: On March 25, 2021, I was in a near-fatal car accident; I wrecked my car driving at a high rate of speed (at the speed limit though) and wrecked into a telephone pole head-on. I never even saw it, so I never hit the brakes. The engine of my car came through the car and crushed my right leg while it was on the gas pedal. The pole started tipping over and I immediately began bleeding internally but didn't know it. My leg was obviously broken as well. The medics and rescue truck came to force my door open and get me out before the pole fell over all the way and got me in the ambulance. By that time, I had no blood pressure, indicating severe internal bleeding. They rushed me to the hospital at super speedy rate. I had emergency surgery and had my spleen removed because it was cut in half from the impact of the crash. My leg was also broken, which I needed 4 surgeries on. I eventually ended up with titanium rods, screws, and plates in my ankle and tibia (lower leg bone) and was in a wheelchair for over 6 months, then had to learn how to walk again. During this time, my fiancée was taking care of me, and he was able to do absolutely everything I needed and more; he took care of me great. But he argued with me for no reason very often and was emotionally abusive and jealous and insecure. I enrolled in college when I began walking with a cane and was going to school online, and my fiancée was jealous that I was getting an education because it was taking attention away from him. At this time, I'd also listen to Kevin Gates while I'd study or when I'd clean, or I'd watch his interviews. My fiancée would get so jealous. I wanted out but had no way out. I didn't have the money or anywhere to go. Then, right after New Year's 2023, I watched a new interview of Kevin Gates, and it was about his spiritual journey. I was so depressed by this point, and God had sent him to deliver this message at that exact moment. He said in the interview, "Choose you first... Do not stay in a relationship and suffer in silence...
