Funny enough I actually had a maths teacher who was kinda like this. When I first met him I was being a little shit on sports day, then I moved up to year 9 (8th grade for Americans I think. Please do correct me if I’m wrong) and had him for maths. He was an old fellow and when I first saw him I thought he was going to be as uptight and strict as the other maths teachers I had, I still remember how he introduced himself. He said “if there is something you don’t understand, I apologise. It’s my fault for not teaching it in a way you’d understand.” I had him for 3 years and he would explain problems and questions in one way, and if you didn’t understand, he would sit with you and talk you through it in different ways to help you get it. He would even write you specific questions on things you struggled on for homework for you to improve. He was an amazing man. My girlfriend’s brother had seen him before he left school and apparently the man looked tired and dejected. It’s a shame to see a great teacher go from that to this.

Music teacher was better he cared the whole time. This teacher literally only started giving a shit towards the end of the movie before that he didn’t do his job AND ignored the only student who tried in his class

It’s called character development. Believe it or not, people can change for the better

Easy to show in a movie for a 3 minute clip. Harder to do that 180+ days out of the year with 50+ minutes per class.

Time is a bitch thing don’t all happen overnight

My favorite teachers growing up were mr LaCoste and Mr Caluguiri. Mr Cal was kinda wacky and loved sports and books. Later took over as the librarian. Mr Lacoste was younger eccentric and full of life that kept us fourth graders engaged and smiling and productive. Best teacher ever. He later became assistant principal and then principal at another school. He had an accident and is now paralyzed after hanging from a branch playing with his kids and wife on a hike, branch snapped and landed on his head breaking his neck. These teachers inspire us and are memorable. They carry an impact. In my history male teachers have more passion or energy and enthusiasm for said subject. It can go a long way in learning and engagement of students. Reminds me of the song flowers are red by Harry chapin.
