It's an old joke from a Kid and Play movie, "House Party". The Martin Lawrence character had notoriously bad breath and it was a running joke all through the movie. The audience got it.

Great fun ! He was probably an amazing street performer. His stretched out voice muscles are an indication for that. Street comedians had to use their voice for long hours, before portable microphones became more available to the general public.

Late 80’s and throughout the 90’s. Damn near everyone came from Def Jam. Martin, Bernie, Harvey, Belamie, Givins, Tucker, Rock, Hugley, literally almost every black comedian you can think of from back in the day was on that show and or started there.
