Kevin Meade started contracting 20 years ago and got into silage around 2005. When they first started out it was with a trailed harvester before progressing to a wagon and working up to a competitive brand self-propelled harvester. At the time Kevin was dealing with McGee Farm Machinery for the straw side of his business and agreed to take a demo of the Krone Big X forage harvester a couple of years later.
“We’d been running the other brand of harvester since 2015 and always found it good until we got the Big X 580,” Kevin explains “the same driver was on the two machines until he got used to the Krone and now I can’t get him off it. Both machines we have had are powered in the same ratio but the Big X just seems to be a better machine for working and for driving all day it’s a more comfortable machine and easier to operate.”
