I agree. From experience i know freedom. I am now an employee. I am still quite free. There is alot of bs amongst emloyees. I capitalize on the freedom my corporate employer allows and i can see i am not alone by a longshot. Its terrible really how many people have a job but dont know how to appreciate it and capitalize on their freedom

Haters tend to forget Kevin creates thousands of jobs a year and supports the modern economy. Kevin also states that the country is overselling education, specially post-graduate degrees.

being a business owner is NOT easy in an age of amazon with fierce competition along with risks of being sued, and of course shutdowns thanks to covid 19. every situation is unique and everyone has to make the smartest decision and live with the results. 40% failure rate for small businesses in america. that is really high. i haven't even gotten into shrinkage, employee theft of services (hanging out on their cellphones instead of working for the wage you are paying them), routine wear/tear damage, i can go on. it's realy not that easy nor simple.

and in the end we all die regardless of how much or little freedom or money we had. Enjoy life and help others. Nothing will matter 200 years from now for any of the people living today,
Once you start working for yourself, it's hard to go back. I get anxiety every time I do a job interview now just because I can't handle people telling me what to do for shit pay.
@CarlyKpdx I'm not so cynical, take it at face value. Never spent much time in malls let alone an ice cream shops but I see frequent cleaning of sidewalks in my town from gum dropped in front of college bars as incredibly self centered and unnecessary as that is.

Imagine being an employee at one of Kevin's companies and watch this haha man really said, “there's the people who own the store, and there's the people who scrap sh*t off the floor” 😂 🤣😂 🤣
Talk about a mic drop moment. A lot of people in middle management really think they're somebody, they strut around like they own the place just because they're in charge of a few employees. No no, there are 2 classes - the person who owns the place and the people who work for them. That's it...
Nooo, that's an easy reply. "Actually, Kevin... The two kinds of people are those who own the store and work there, and there's people who hold Bitcoin. How much for me to buy all your stores?"
Salary is a drug not money. Salary is a particular type of money. With your reading comprehension skills you'll never make it past scraping gum off someone else's floor lol
I also think there is something behind stability of good paying corporate jobs with benefits & healthcare. I was an entrepreneur, paid a higher tax bracket, ripped off by a medical biller, didn't have a very good CPA, and was actually an independent contractor when I was told I was an associate for a year. There are vultures out in the small business world and working hard doesn't always pay off- mistakes can be expensive.
I respect Kevin O'leary not just because he is rich, but because he is unapologetic about his success. Right before this I was watching an interview with Ray Dalio where he was stating that capitalism needs to be reformed. How convenient is that for Dalio after he used said capitalism to obtain billions upon billions of dollars of wealth. I value honesty above all else and O'leary is totally right. You should not feel the need to apologize for your success in anything and life, but rather embrace the system that allowed you to get where you are. I am so sick of guilt ridden hypocritical billionaires lecturing the world about how they should live your life. Everyone should have the opportunity to work hard to obtain freedom and I applaud O'leary for speaking that message.
My buddy Bruno was on shark tank. I interviewed every boss I every had to learn where every penny of every dollar was earned and spent. And I interviewed my buddies Mom Loretta Reosenmeyer back at community college who went back to school in her forties and built a woman owned construction company that made $550 MIL a few years ago. I improved myself by being a 100% commission sales person with Xerox training. I'm always interested in learning new thing from and about people and dreaming new things, ideas, inventions. There are lots of ways to make money. But best advice I heard was very simple - solve some other businesses problem.
Like Dylan said "sometime in life yo have to learn to serve somebody" I think it is an attitude accomplishment to be able to work for somebody sometime in your life to learn how to take direction from someone else.
I like O'Leary, but I am an employee at the VA serving our wonderful vets and I love it! I would NEVER want the stress and headache (not to mention the 60 or 70 hour work weeks) of owning my own business. It just is not worth it to me, and I don't care if my supervisor asks me to do something now and then. It's really not a big deal. But, to each his own. Entrepreneurs are a rare breed to be sure.
Thank you for watching Ryan, totally agree. Not everyone wants to have their own biz and that's perfectly okay! 🙏 Hope you're subscribed...if you tell me what else you're interested in learning I'll make another video recommendation from my channel.

Rich Kid I think we need all kinds of people… Doctors and dancers, musicians and accountants, entrepreneurs and factory workers. Everyone is important.
If you don't want to run a business, you can develop some high margin markets for your personal services. "The mistake personal service providers make is they do not realize they are subject to the same rules as someone who sells merchandise. You are a merchant of services." -napoleon hill. this is why I get $300 per hour as a accountant, because I deliver high value to my clients efficiently.
What is always forgotten in this kind of speeches is - you need a great team. You need a great support and a spouse that will give you freedom to do what you are doing. Somebody needs to raise the kids. But often it is forgotten, behind the successful people are hard working team.
it's not that simple,. i know new york city workers who make 200+ thousand dollars a year with full medical benefits and a pension coming up at half their salary for LIFE. sure beats working at a business as it is a 40% failure rate ESPECIALLY with covid 19. a city job is union protected. your own business? bankrutpcy thanks to amazon and govt. enforced shutdowns,.
i like how the interviewer guided him back to answering the question about how success has changed him when the guest started bragging again about his lenses and watches. the dude's got great advice but also beyond full of himself. no humility whatsoever
I came here to learn how to invest after listening to a guy on radio talk about the importance of investing and how he made $960,000 in 4 months from $160k, somehow this video has helped shed light on some things, but I'm still confused, I'm a newbie and I'm open to ideas.
It is possible to produce superior performance provided you do something different from the majority. However, most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.
Having monitored my portfolio performance which has made a jaw dropping $470k from just the past two quarters alone, I have learned why experienced traders make enormous returns from the seemingly unknown market.
Interesting. I have a lump sum doing absolutely nothing at all in my bank account, I wanna get something started with it. You seem to be doing excellent for yourself, how do you achieve this?

Or instead of getting on your knees every day and scraping gum every day, put a sign up and place several recepticles out. The sign says "Ice cream samples free if you deposit gum in the recepticle". Some people just adopt a broken process and never question why its broken - and they use it all their lives like idiots. Other people come along and fix the process on day 1.
Mr. Wonderful gives the honest truth about the odds the success/failure as entrepreneur. People hear about all the successes --- they rarely think about all the dead bodies piling up along the way of failed entrepreneurs who went bust. Successful people only make it look fun and easy.

I’m 17 years of age and currently in high school, I consider myself mature and ahead of my age for really digging through these videos. I believe school is not for me nor is college and feel as if it’s a scam. I really do want to be financially successful, many people doubt me, and I love it. I promise myself I’m going to do everything In my power to complete the challenge. I really do see myself successful, all I have to do is take action and have realistic goals. Anyone and everyone can do it, and everyone wants to be rich but no one wants to take action. I’ve learned so much from Dan Peña, and I thank him for teaching many things about life. By the way does anyone recommend a really good book about success???

Kevin is a no bullshit kind of guy. Tells you whats up straight to your face. People are not used to that so he is labeled as mean. Reality is he is telling you what you need to hear.

Kevin, with the ice cream story, you just told your employees (and junior partners) how little they mean to you... You are very confident that you are better than anyone, your judgement is stellar and your "guts" are made of a special material. Thank you to make me avoid all your products.
I have to thank Kevin O'Leary for helping me, when I was in a complete rut, following my 'dream'.... I was freelancing and I wasn't making enough money to survive on, and then one day, I *do* call this divine guidance, I was on LinkedIn and I follow Kevin and his post was something like "If your business isn't supporting you after 3 years, it's not a business, it's a hobby". Right there and then I decided enough is enough (because I really like and respect Kevin, and I took notice) - I said, "he's right"..... and I found an alternative income stream, calling my 'business' a hobby (and held it in my mind that for a hobby, it provided an additional income to 'have holidays and do stuff".....). I turned my life around, thanks to that advice and my 'hobby' actually started making me more money as a result. I've never lost focus of that advice I read that time and I still keep it in mind. Thank you Mr O'Leary.
He thinks he's all that. On our death beds we all realize what a sham life was. Or at least the life we thought would make us "successful". Money is a piece of paper, that's all.
Good words. Investments has always been the ultimate option, it benefits even more when you have several investment which gives you greater advantage and more source of income.
I realized the benefits of investing during this period. My source of income had previously been my job. But I lost my job when the pandemic started and I had to live with the little I had in my savings which really affected my plans.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. For the past four years, my income has never been dependent on any firm or work place, because I chose to invest and the more money I get the more I seek for new investment opportunities.
I believe the story @10:39 was by far the most powerful. Experiencing such a extreme change in mindset and realising youve become something that youd never believe you would be.
Have much respect for a man who knows his worth and has a solid plan for every step of his life..Thumbs up to my beloved country for its recognition, didn't even.know he came to Botswana for a safari tour..guess our country is well recognised for what it has to offer
It's not gonna happen as 99% of wanna be entrepreneurs are gonna quit after just 3 months. It might sound easy the way Kevin talks, but it's a hell of a lot of work to get there.
Kevin is right. And I stopped working for other people as well. Unfortunately, this made me broke. But only others see it that way. I prefer to view it as, I'm seeking my moment.......it's turning into a long hunt...
The sad reality is we can’t all be Generals without any soldiers. Sure it sounds great that we all own our own businesses but someone has to cook the food, change the tires, clean the tables, work the floor, deliver the package you ordered…
I've felt very similar for as long as I can remember now, notwithstanding the fact that it can be very difficult to build a business without adequate capital.
Have you ever seen Shark Tank?? The way Kevin negotiates for any deals in the show could get you developed with respect to dealing with your deals with the skill he teaches you.
Cool time to see this interview. I was talking with my friend's brother recently about video games and I told him I would rather work on a little side hustle I just started on involving a chemistry newsletter than play video games. I think the pandemic put into perspective that we are just at the whims of shareholders. It's better to be in control of your own destiny than at the whims of some institutional investors who want to see the company you work at go in a different direction.
Business broker here. Only a small % employees have the mindset & marketable skills/products to survive & make a buck in the brutal business world. Prepared to work twice, 3x as hard to make the same money, or no money at all !!!! Often the biz owner take home less than the workers they employ.
There are two types of people . People who own the store and people who scrape the shit of the floor --Kevin O'leary lol but hey man you start somewhere. sometimes i feel i underestimate what it takes to be successful .
True, we all start somewhere -- and gum scraping or trash collecting is a noble job if that's what lights you up. I think Kevin's point is about thinking about how short-term compromises can have long-term implications. But there is no one-size fits all. For example, the fictitious characters and storyline from one of my favorite shows, The Office. Jim is stuck and clearly not living up to his potential. But Jim gets what he really wants--that's Pam. He sacrifices his career goals in the short-term to get his dream (girl) in the long-term. I believe there's many ways to get what you want in life.
I agree. This is why I became an entrepreneur. I am currently renting tables, chairs, tents, linen, props, setting up dessert tables for all occasions, and more to afford a venue next year. I have been documenting it on my RU-vid channel. It's hard work, but I know it will pay off in the end.
